Are you sure it's her? I saw no mention of wine in the whole article. smiling smiley

Great info, BTW

Funny!! I loved the article. I would have liked more details, but I respect her privacy. Thanks, Lisa, for doing the interview.
There were several paragraphs on the importance of wine to mystery shopping. Blame it on the editor.

Great article! I would love to know people's opinions about which companies see you as just a number and which ones foster relationships with their shoppers. I'm new at this, so I haven't figured that out yet.

In addition to thanking stilllearning for help, I would like to give some major kudos to a forum member who goes by the handle ShopperBob. Bob is a long time business person and never loses sight mystery shopping is first and foremost a business.

You put a lot of work into those interviews, Stilllearning, and came up with some really good questions. Thank you.

There are two types of people in this world: Those who can extrapolate from incomplete data.
This was a very thought provoking and interesting interview. I have shopped since the late 70's and fax machines. I found the information to be motivational. The ability to make four grand a month shopping is very possible for me. I just don't have the skills (fastidious) skills needed. I am so happy to hear of anothers successes in the MS arena.
New shoppers, she is far above normal and it took her yeato achieve it.
GREAT ARTICLE, THANKS FOR IT! smiling smiley

It's great she and others are making that kind of money. I've been shopping for a little over 7 years and I haven't built up the reputation yet to tell a scheduler, "Sorry, I need at least XX for the shop." and get it that often. At least two companies I know of and work for will pay the ferry/toll fees to get to other places at least, plenty of work with them. Best of success to you all!
Very interesting, and excellent questions! (:

Always like the interviews with forum members and MSC people.

I loved the article Lisa! I will never forget how much you helped me when I first got started. It was a great read, thanks to the writer and the subject.

I'm very new at ms but I hope to get some advice about the different companies out there and whether or no becoming certified by the Mystery Shopper Association would benefit me with getting more shops?
AustinMom put it best when she said this site is designed to learn at your own pace.

In the New Mystery Shoppers forum there are a dozen or so threads at the top of the page which will guide you through everything from registering and getting shops to record keeping to taxes. At the bottom of every page is a link to the Official List of Mystery Shopping companies. Each entry has a link to discussions about the individual company.

Lastly there is a search function which you can use for discussions regarding certifications. The opinions vary. To me a lot of relevant information is provided to allow you to make an educated decision. Make sure when using Search to change the default from the last 30 days to all dates.

Since you're new, it probably will increase your offers because it will make you more visible. Bear in mind this is not a guarantee and it may take some time for you to see the benefit of certification. Some say they didn't see any benefit from certification, but I saw more offers after gold certifying and eventually picked up one especially lucrative recurring opportunity that netted me some respectable income.

Gold certification may increase your chances for shops, but the most important thing that will benefit you is to be reliable and thorough.
