That's grest. Makes you feel appreciated, huh? 
If it comes in the mail, that means they really cared.
1. Remember ahead of time, as the post is 3-5 days.
2. Buy the card.
3. Write instead of type. Extra points if its good loopy cursive as the young kids today can't read it.
4. Find a stamp.
5. Drop it in the mail.
Of course, if the person is over 60, then they probably buy boxes of cards 50 at a time, and have "forever" stamps already affixed to them. Then they have a physical calender that is 20 years old with all the birth dates of everyone they know and the current address and phone # and now email address scribbled on it. My mom has everything in her phone and synced with Outlook and reminders set for every birthday. She can't part with the paper calendar. She does not trust the electronics, and has had enough hard drive failures and viruses for me to understand why.

That's really nice. I've gotten some e-mail thank yous. A card is a really nice touch.
Definitely much better and more appreciated than a Hero citation.

I received a snail mail thank you card from a company with a gift certificate attached. They were thanking me for going way beyond what was expected of me. I must admit, it did make me feel good. Now that company is the top of my list.
The one thing that really stands out in my memory was when the MSC backed me up, not once but twice and a note that even the CEO was behind me. The email that the official sent me asking me to continue shopping for them was more than I expected. I think that shoppers deserve at least a pat in the back when we do our part beyond the call of duty in keeping our part in this hopefully symbiotic relationship.
You hear a lot about your being a highly regarded shopper when your services are needed desperately but when the deed is done, you become just an entity that could be brushed off by the MSC because you are an independent contractor. Come on! Show us that we are an integral part of this endeavour known as mystery shopping and we will return the favour in heaps and bundles.

Hand written with a stamp that was obviously purchased. I felt really special. I emailed and thanked him for sending it. He seems to think that I help him out but it's them that are helping me out.
