I had that happen at a hardware store. I am fully involved with the associate, when a customer walks up and starts giving his opinion. The hardware associate was taken aback, as I was, and became silent. The customer was a real know-it-all and just kept yakking..and yakking. I kept ignoring the customer and directing my questions to the associate. The guy could not take a hint! What was I supposed to do, evaluate the customers skills? lol....Thankfully the hardware associate corralled me back!

I was at a hardware store Sunny! It was kind of funny, thank goodness it's not too far from my house.

I think it's a hazard of hardware/home improvement. I've had it happen to me too. Maybe it's the old guy version of a sewing circle.

Or you might want to say to the butt-insky other customer: "Excuse me, don't get too close. I have Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis, which is a contagious lung disease, so stay back!"

Oh, no! Actually, in truth, chances are they would have had no memory of your face!

I don't know why these customers think they need to get their "2 cents" about what we are purchasing in these stores

That's a good attitude to have.
