New Gas Audits

I just logged onto an MSCs jobsearch page and the gas station shops which used to only require a purchase of both gas and an item in the convenience store now have been changed to revealed audits. Has anyone requested the new audits and what types of pictures are now required?

I noticed that last night too....and for the same price as the nonreveal shops. Once upon a time they had both kinds and I did ONE of the audit ones for an extra incentive amount. It wasn't that bad as I just had to take pics of the pumps, signage, etc. The only pain was that the gas station closed for a state audit at exactly the same time I pulled up to do my audit. That was a weird coincidence.
I did one on the last round for the initial fee, then waited for the numbers to go up before taking on more. About 9 photos are needed, plus some extras for any issues found, such as improper stickers and signs.

There is quite a bit of detail in the substantial guideline document, though I worked up my own checklist of the details to review and got the time down. Organizing the photos and scanning the validation page took me longer than I'd like.

There are some tempting locations on the new list, though I will wait to see whether the fees go up before applying.
@snoopycoupon, A few weeks ago I did 4 of them, but they were only to be revealed IF the attendant catches you taking pictures. You must take a picture of the pump you used as well as the full restroom and any close-ups in the restroom of bad items, these are easy to do. Then if you find missing, wrong or damaged signs; repair issues; dirty; ... you must take pictures of those items as well, all while "...being discrete to not capture any ones attention". Of the 4 shops I had to take extra pictures at 2 of them, and both immediately asked me what I was doing LOL, good thing I had an LOA but now I can't do shops at those stations again as they know who I am.
There's more than one version, depending on which MSC you're working with. Some are required to be revealed before taking any photos.
I just did a reveal audit that turned out to be a lot harder than my research showed. I had to purchase two gallons of gas and an item in the store before putting on my safety vest and revealing. The number of pictures I had to do took a long time. Completing the form was not bad but every single picture I uploaded disappeared when I submitted the report. That was late Friday night so I am sure I will hear from the MSC Monday. I did email them about the problem immediately but I am sure there is a lot more work to do to get this fixed. I think I've learned my lesson!!!

Thanks, y'all. Just wondering if these were actually WORTH it since they're going for the same price as previously when they were just unrevealed. The unrevealed ones were really nice, but these sound like they' aren't as good of a deal.
It was for Maritz. The report was not bad but uploading the pictures.......awful!!!

Huh. I have never seen an unrevealed audit for Maritz. Not in the last 7 or 8 years, anyway. (The sneaky ones a decade ago were fun because they wanted "discreeet" photos of pumps, the sign, the loo, etc… CORI had unrevealed for a while, but it's been years for those, too.) The only unrevealed I've done lately was for MF. That chain, around here, anyway, alternatives between revealed and mystery shops.
There is another MSC that has both mystery shops and audits for the same gas company. The mystery shop usually takes me about 9 minutes total while the audit takes about 20-25 minutes plus a longer report. They usually start at the same base rate of $9 plus reimbursement. I think this is a decent fee for the mystery shop, but the audit should be paid at a higher rate. Off the top of my head, I think about 8 photos are required. It's pretty easy once you get the hang of it.
Thanks; THAT'S the one I was talking about. Hadn't ever done the actual audits, so I appreciate the info smiling smiley
Seriously just don't understand why people don't either name the msc or client. Makes things so confusing.

They have LOTS of these in my area now offering a bonus. I just don't think there is probably a big enough bonus to get me to do any more of these.

Since we're not naming the client, the MSC is Market Force. I just did one of these "MS followed by a revealed audit" on Sunday. Despite the low pay, I took it for several reasons: It was one mile from my home, free gas, and I've never completed a gas station shop so I'm trying to gain experience as a newbie.

The shop guidelines made the audit part seem a lot worse than it really was. However, uploading the photos was a pain in the butt. The location I shopped did not have a convenience store and the office was closed, so that did make things simpler for me. Not sure I'd be doing this one again for the base pay, but would definitely take it at a bonus.

KimRod, you may be able to load all the photos at one time by holding down the control key, clicking each photo, and then double clicking the last one twice. This usually works for me. Sometimes I have to go back and load the last one individually.

Mary Davis Nowell. Based close to Fort Worth. Shopping Interstate 20 east and west, Interstate 35 north and south.
Finished one yesterday. They are the same from last month with more requirements and more piks but the same pay. Well they have gone up a bit but still....

@MDavisnowell Once they're on my laptop I can do that. However, it's the downloading from my phone to my laptop that was a pain. And I'll admit that I did this in a really stupid and inefficient way. :-) I'm used to dealing with only one or two pictures for shop, so emailing them to myself is not a big deal. However, I think if I do anything like this again I'll use my digital camera, or the external memory card on my phone. That way I just plug it into my computer to rename and download all my pics.
