What do you do if a meal is comped?

In fact I have done quite a few restaurant shops where they do want you to tell the restaurant if there is something incorrect with your order. Generally you do this inside the restaurant when you are eating in but the shop I did was an outside pick up from the car pick up area where I had to stay in my car and wait for them to come out so the only way to say something was missing was to call them. There are also restaurant shops where you just eat what you are given even if it is not what you ordered. I have come across very few of those.
Yes many locations certainly do want you to let a manager know when something is amiss so you evaluate how they handle a complaint or matter that needs attention. I think for the ACL reports, that is how you would get your entire meal comped. But I have also seen those guidelines which state you are to never ask to speak to a manager. That being said sometimes it is outside of your control as a server will be proactive and bring something to the manager's attention. I'm also told to just go with the flow and I always insist they not comp items but they usually will anyway.

Doing what I can to enhance the life of my family! I LOVE what I do smiling smiley
Interestingly I have never had a full meal comped with an ACL client. The server has had items replaced that were poorly prepared or the wrong thing. The manager has sometimes gotten involved. When the manager gets involved the item may be replaced and comped and sometimes a voucher issued for a free item next visit. We collect up the vouchers to use on a personal visit with no report to write since they can't be used on a shop.
