Chipotle shops now have a reduced fee of $21 sad smiley

I just saw that. I guess I was censored! I wish they would at least send me an explanation of why they thought my post was inappropriate.

One of my biggest disappointments with how the MSC treats its shoppers is the way some of its moderators delete posts/threads in its FB group. I understand when things get nasty and posts get deleted to stop a flame war, but relatively innocent threads/posts are frequently deleted, too--without any warning or heads up. If a shopper then posts to ask why his/her post was removed, those questioning posts are removed, also.
My guess: your thread was removed because the moderator did not want shoppers to try to game the system.

Let me throw another thought into the mix. We are supposed to not only evaluate based on appearance but taste. The concept of a large taco solves that. The shopper gets a bite of multiple ingredients (one protein) and can better gauge how the food is prepared. I get the tacos when I am not hungry and limit to two-three ingredients (salsa on the side) because if it is more, the thing turns into a sloppy mess. This concept of getting a loaded taco solves the problem. Chipotle should applaud the solution rather than seek to censor it IMHO.

Wait - explain why it is "gaming the system" to order the food I want on the food line of a restaurant. When I am a mystery shopper for this chain, I order the required bowl and chips. When I am not, I order what I want. Now that I can order what I want, that's what I will do, but I don't consider it gaming the system in any way.
I am not saying it's gaming the system. I am saying I suspect whoever removed the posts thought so.
The report is extensive. It requires a lot of detailed observations that need to be made as you go through the line which are difficult to keep in your head - I am an experienced shopper and did these for a while but finally just didn't have the patience.

I don't post on their Facebook page but my brother-in-law frequently does. He complained to me in the past that a couple of his posts were deleted and he didn't understand why. He said one of the posts was about the timing requirements. The msc FB moderator deleted it, and then sent him an email stating that it was deleted because his question was only pertaining to his particular shop. That makes no sense to me. He didn't understand it either.
Question: when you order the kid's taco, aren't you limited to like 2 or 3 ingredients? If that's the case, we should now just order the kid's taco meal, as our "taste" evaluation will be shorter.
The time in restaurant needs to be shortened. Spend 30 minutes in the restaurant with one taco and some chips? That are gone in 5 minutes?Won't that look odd?
Job fees will go down until they get to a price low enough that no shopper will shop them. If you don't like low fees, then urge everyone to stop doing jobs for low fees. That's how the economic law of supply and demand works.
There are lots of shoppers out there who don't read this forum. How do you propose to urge them to stop taking jobs with low fees?
I agree that 30 minutes is a long time to sit there eating one taco and a kid's chip. They don't have free Wi-Fi and I'm not going to use up my data on a shop that has lowered it's fees. I used to average 6-8 shops a month. Three of them were downtown which involved paying for parking. I un-assigned myself these three shops. Parking is $5. It's not worth it to me to do these downtown locations for a taco and kid chip. I also wish they would do away with the phone portion of the shop. Half the time I can't understand the employee's name because they speak so fast and it's noisy in the background.
Dare, when I can't understand the name on the phone portion, I ask for it.

Granted, I only have three shops under my belt, but it works so far.

I also ask and still can't understand them sometimes. I just report that info and have never had a problem. The last shop I did, I asked her name at the end of the conversation but she had already hung up on me. I submitted the report with no name.

I don't urge other shoppers to stop doing jobs for low fees. What they do is their business. But I certainly don't do it myself.

Edited to add: I don't really care what other shoppers do shops for. The more shops they eat up at low fees the more bonus money is left at the end of the month for the hard to fill locations, which is what I like. On top of that, the more time my competitors use up doing low $/hour shops the less time they have to eat into my high $/hour shops.

I usually make the call from the parking lot after the shop. I do ask politely for the name to be repeated and then use it in conversation. If it still isn't easy to understand and it sounds a lot like the name on the receipt, I use that name. (If the name sounds like "Ismael" and the name on the receipt is "Jessica" that does not work.) The cashier is the one who most often answers the phone. The phone call doesn't bother me. I am amused at the variety of responses I get to the same question. I assume Chipotle wants to know what the public is being told and if the response is helpful or mechanical.

I also noticed that a lot of the time the cashier is the one answering the phone. But, not always.

Regarding the lowering of the fee, I think the problem is that the fee has been lowered twice in a year's span, which gives a feeling of let down. If you were to start today at $21 for the shop, you might not mind. If you are used to $27 for the longer report, and then $25 for the new report form, you hear the fee is getting reduced again and it seems unfair.

It still might be worth it for me to do it at the new fee. Ironically, a new location is being built in my area and I was looking forward to having somewhere new to go. There are only two locations here and I have been alternating them monthly since the move.
It's actually cheaper to order a single 'adult' taco (chicken $2.40, chips $1.35) then a kids meal ($4.75). Has anyone asked if we can actually order a kid's meal? I took the announcements to mean we could order a single 'adult' taco, not a kid's meal.

Most restaurants have age restrictions on kiddie meals. Mickey D will sell it to anyone. Anyone know if Chipotle has an age limit on a kiddie meal?

The owner of the MSC said on FB that the kids meal is ok. As discussed in prior posts here, I think a single flour taco plus kids chips is a better deal even though the kids meal comes with a drink. With the adult taco you can get multiple toppings rather than just two with the kids meal. Portions may be larger too.
Here is excellent advice on maximizing a taco.

When I order a single taco, I actually order exactly the same ingredients I order in a bowl. The only difference between my taco and my bowl is that the taco is served in a soft flour tortilla, which I usually discard. When ordering the single taco, the server asks if I want flour or corn and then asks what I want in it. In my flour tortilla, I get rice, beans, one meat, green salsa, corn salsa, cheese, and lettuce. I ask for sour cream on the side. My taco is usually so so large they put it into a basket but it still has the single-taco price. Servers seem to have a problem gauging portion control on a build-your-own taco, so my taco usually ends up half, or sometimes more, the size of a bowl.

There is no age limit for kid's meals, and the owner of the MSC stated that it would be fine to order a kid's meal (with chips) for shops. There are two types of kid's meals. If you don't care about the food and your primary concern is profitability, the quesadilla kid's meal is about $4 + tax. You can go to online ordering for more details about that kid's meal.

The MSC said you can't order a quesadilla kids meal. It has to be the kids meal that has tacos.
I'm sorry but I just reread all the posts in the thread about the new requirements and can't find where the MSC said we can't order a quesadilla kid's meal. The only caveat I see repeatedly is it has to be a kid's meal with chips. Can you please tell me where to look? Thanks.

I'm guessing is on the Facebook page.

That's what the owner of the MSC posted on the private FB page. Also when you log in to their website it says the minimum order is one taco and a kids chips. So ordering the kids meal gives you at least the one taco and the chips are included. Someone asked on the FB page if a quesadilla would meet the minimum order requirements and the answer was no. I am sure it will be spelled out in more detail when the shops are posted next month.
That was where I looked. I am tired and so I may have missed it, but I don't see a comment about quesadillas.

Also, after the MSC said a single taco was the minimum purchase, it also said a three-pointer was OK and then the discussion went on to talk about three-pointers that did not involve a taco.

Do you realize what an idiot you sound like Weatherman? MS companies do not fire people so they can train more shoppers. They fire shoppers due to poor work. Based on your writing quality in these posts and your horrible attitude, I can't possibly imagine why they would not want to continue to use you as an IC.

Gee, I wonder if your IP traces back to Colorado? You specifically sign up for this forum just to slag on people who post mean but probably true things about one MSC? Apparently the air up there is thinner than I thought.

Good luck to anyone who takes these assignments. That MSC is going down fast to the bottom.
