Cancelled shop due to age

i receive a desperate email yesterday, please do this shop today. i say fine if it is in my town. i get it approved, only for San Diego, CA (3 1/2 hours from me). I write telling her the problem and she then reassigns
me bank in my town. I'm set to do it this morning, when I see it's not on my assigned shops. Write again, and am told it was taken off due to age, they are looking for someone 18 to 30. Why wouldn't they know that before pressuring me to do it. #waste of time

Look at you --using hashtags. Way to go, Irene! I'm more shocked that anyone thought San Diego is near LA. #ThatsNotEvenClose
Chris, that's not fair. On the map LA and SD are only an inch apart.

I may be old, but I'm hip...lol
it is near l.A., but remember l.A. is huge, so, not near me, closer to Orange County. (La Jolla), Oceanside, etc.

How ridiculous! An age requirement that stringent and yet they couldn't be bothered to check it (or waive it) before they beg you to do it.

Checking mileage is always an option.....

But driving in the LA-Mexico-rush hour all day traffic makes you want to take a plane for that one inch.

UPDATE.....I found out through my own detective work, the shop I wrote about shouldn't have been given to me in the first place as it was meant for a student going to school abroad, hence the age requirement 18/30 now makes sense. Scheduler didn't do her homework.
I FORGIVE HER.

I never understand why I get many emails a day almost daily for age verification jobs when my age is filled out in all my profiles. Why do MSC ask you to fill out a profile and then still send you so many emails for jobs you don't qualify for? Total waste of time.
Well, I applied for a shop and I was not accepted. They quoted 5 possible reasons: I have done many shops for the same client, I do not fall in the demographic requirement, I am not in the age bracket, I have recently done a shop for the same client or I am not of the right gender. I have not done shops for them since mid 2016. I wish they would spell out the real reason as I had a good rating with them. Now, I will have to place the MSC in the backburner.

Or better still, they should have specified in their emails the complete demographic requirements so we won't have to waste our time.

In Irene's case, they even went to all the trouble of persuading her to do a job with age restrictions which they themselves did not know.

Just last December, I had two shops which were withdrawn on the same day they were accepted. There was an age restriction of not more than 30 years old. This was not stated in the job posting.

My case, the scheduler didn't go into my profile, had no clue about the 3 1/2 hours of driving or my age.
She needed it done, all for 20.00. We are suppose to take responsibility, but how about the schedulers.
This scheuler apologized and was sweet about the "mixup", but many choose to take the easy way out, then wonder why they have so much trouble filling jobs. My radius in my profile states 30 miles from my zip.
not difficult to figure out San Diego is miles from me, we all know you can't see that on a map. Most do send jobs within my radius, so,many are fine, just that other % that makes you want to go, huh?

I'm retiring for my health, for the rest of you, happy shopping, i hope it gets better before it gets worse.

I have a scheduler tell me once it's only 28 miles. I told her yeah the way the crow flies... most do not have a clue. Seattle traffic is the worst, and when it rains I stay at home.
I previously did several Valet parking shops in my town. They didn't pay much, but I was able to go downtown without paying an exorbitant parking fee. Now they say I have to be under 65! Why?

I cant do Eddie Bauer shops because I'm over 60. I'll remember that next Christmas.

Susie shopping the Columbus Ohio area and outlying communities.

I had a scheduler tell me that she can't swing my requested bonus because the location is ~25 km from me.

That works out to an hour away from home, and I very rarely ever ask for a bonus in my home city.

The client picks the demographic. The majority of people who valet are not over 65.

The convenience stores that I do, require somebody under 50. According to the scheduler, most of her shoppers in AZ are way over 50. She's in a world of hurt now. She asked if the demographic was really people under 50. It is. Most of the people are 20-35 actually.
@Irene_L.A.-------->you should ask for the "close shop" fee. Afterall they may have had you at "go", if they had not use your age as a factor. smiling smiley

I guess you didn't read my post, they needed 18/30 yr. old for a student going to school abroad. What does "close fee" mean in this case? They never had me at go, as I stated, San Diego is 3 1/2 hours, so beside age, I wasn't doing it due to distance.....

Irene, sorry to hear that you have Glaucoma. I am lucky to have so many shops close to my home for Mystery Shopping. How many years did you shop? I have been shopping for 10 years now, where does the time go? I couldn't retire, I am like you energetic, computer savvy. I don't shop week-ends or nights, I leave that for the young people. I will be 73 this July. The schedulers know how old I am, they keep calling because I am reliable.

Yes, I relate to your posts....have been shopping 10 + years. My retirement has to do with not driving on the freeways (L.A.). My town is growing leaps and bounds, and I am doing two next week. Business Verification and a Bank in my town. Still able to do that, and it's great, takes my mind off my health related problems. Going to Doc so much, MS'ing allows me the flexibility of doing what I'm able to....will turn @$! in Aug.....where did the time go....funny thing, used to lie about my age in my 50's, now I'm proud of it, don't look it (very important). Eye drops definitely slowing process down, getting around and driving here. Aging takes strength, mental as well as physical. I know many younger much worse off than I am, I've never smoked or drank, and have eaten healthy for several years, but some things just frucking wear out.

Well it still wasn't your fault for the scheduler not having her demographics in order. I'll send you the closed shop fee-------->how much is it in Ca? smiling smileygrinning smiley It was closed because it was not open for seniors.

I, too, hate the age requirement at times. For instance, my friend who is in her early 40's showed me the shops listed on her MarketForce email and there were several cell phone shops. Now, not that I wanted to do cell phone shops but I'm 78 and on my MarketForce daily email are the burger shops and NO cell phone shops. I can only assume that MF's client thinks we old folks do not use cell phones. I loved it when my 25 year old Grandson told me I was more tech savvy than his Mom.
And then there are some schedulers who waive the age requirement - bless them as it allows me go out for a steak now and then!!!
