That's actually a flag for people who mark that the quantity of fries did not meet expectations. If you mark that, then you will have to write a short narrative regarding whether you received an extra half scoop of fries. If you marked the the quantity of fries met expectations, you do not have to answer the "did you receive an extra half-scoop" question.
I am always asked this for Little size, regardless if fries were Excellent or quantity met expectations.
Correct, you have to write a short description of the extra fries regardless.
You can, if you want to. I did it several times before I discovered that is not required.

Well, it wasn't a flag for mine. I marked that the fries did meet expectations and tasted excellent.
I do these as a mystery shopper. They're relatively easy shops, so I use them as a chance to take myself out for a quick lunch.
Oder an entree, and beverage then wait to see if they ask if you would like fries or a milk shake. time how long it takes to get your food. Check out the rest room. Look for a manager, and get their description and how many people are working and if they are doing their job. Look over their uniforms to make sure they are wearing clean clothing and the proper attire. Make sure your entree is what you ordered, hot and juicy and no crushed bun. Look for extra fries in your bag and if they are hot, lightly salted and not greasy. The are where you get your soft drink should be clean and filled. Hope this helps. Jane

It is a violation of forum rules and mystery shopping companies agrreements to mention the mystery shopping company and their clients by name. You can mention one or the other.
Our guidelines require a drink purchase, not watner....
I order the grilled cheese with bacon and tomato and small fries and drink. It is real close to my reimbursement...I also order one for my husband, and while the reimbursement does not cover him, it is less than the regular price.
I always do the restroom check before getting into line, because we have to watch the cooking process and time until getting the order. And, you can ask for a bag to take peanuts home. Not the place for someone with a peanut allergy!

I try to do a 5 Guys once a month as I like the food. I just did one yesterday. I have never tried to give them a number on the extra fries and, since I watch the worker put the extra fries into the bag, I can correctly say that I received a half a scoop extra. I have never had the problem of going over the $15 allowance since I always get the little cheese burger, little fries & little drink and it is always $13.30 which I think is a very reasonable price for a burger, fries & drink. Before I did the shop yesterday, I read over the guidelines and I am very glad I did as I don't remember previously seeing the information about the red t-shirts & the red polo shirts. It seems that the supervisors can be wearing a white/grey shirt or a red shirt with a collar. It pays to always double check the guidelines!!
I do a lot of 5 Guys shops. For non milkshake shops you just have to order a sandwich, fries, and a softdrink or tea. No water.

The CPI will state whether you need to order a milkshake or not.

I always tell them a Coke and then get water. Occasionally, I'll do a little flavor in it just to spruce it up. I've noticed several companies want us to get soda. If it's a dine in with it's own machine, I always ask for pop and get water or unsweet tea, coffee, or elsewhat if I'm not feeling like drinking Cola.

I have spotted another fast food chain with those same photo requirements--inside the bag, outside the bag, unwrapped. Haven't spotted Five guys with more than one company, but it's possible. At one time, Hardees was with half a dozen companies and so was Carls Jr. Could be regional. Some franchises own 25-75 stores and will hire a mystery shop company on their own too.

In my area reimbursement limits did not cover the required purchases and there was no shop fee, reimbursement only. I did not like the food and will not do this shop again.
How about the grease on the walkway as you go in and out of the door?
If you don't want the drink..buy the drink and then only drink water. The guidelines all require a drink purchase, not just yours. Get the small and you are under the limit.

Karin Il, I guess the reimbursements are different in Canada. It's been up to $15 ever since I started doing the 5 Guys. The fee is only $6 which is not good but I do these shops for the small fee because I love the food and the report is easy and not narrative heavy. The few questions that require a narrative are easy to answer if you use the questions pertaining to each narrative as a guideline.
