good luck and best wished everyone - I'm done here (now I'm back LOL)

Don't want the constant harassment, rude remarks, and picking the tiniest thing to criticize me on.

I appreciate everyone's help (even those who messed with me) and wish you all the best.

signing off for good

(To those who may have had PMs with me, feel free to continue the conversations privately. I'll still keep open that channel for a while.)

edit: Also, moderators and bullies should look into studies on bullying and its consequences. It's not a laughing matter. It causes serious mental health problems and people can explode - whether inwardly or outwardly. It shouldn't be tolerated here imo. I don't have the energy to "fight" this fight and have already been negatively impacted that I need to step away.

You know the best way to deal with a bully? Punch them in the nose. Running and hiding or crying just makes them do it worse.

So e-punch them with a toggle?

With the exception of an attack on the poster trying to get their reimbursement, who was not the OP here, I've seen nothing over the last few days that could qualify as bullying anyone on open forum. Perhaps it was via PM.

shoptastic,

I'm truly sorry you feel like you have to leave. I would encourage you, though, to reach out to JacobJ, the forum owner, and give him specific examples of the harassment/bullying. It is my understanding (could be wrong) that the mods may only have limited ability as to what they can/cannot do here ( you made reference to them in your post). A warning from Jacob would carry more weight than from the anonymous mods.

I was born during the "millennial" period and I'm not sensitive.
Don't lead bullies on or give them reason to bully.....I'm feeling you now are doing a :"feel guilty for me play" to those that weren't on board with your last thread. Sybil2 was the ultimate bully, you have no idea what bully means. You are probably a nice lady, but (sorry) immature comes to mind. I was told to get a thicker skin when
I was bullied....just can't be on your side, but wish you luck!!

From several giant steps backward: Elaine Aron teaches gracefully, knowledgeably, and from experience. She introduces us to and helps us to understand sensitive people.

If some of us are sensitive, the rest of us might wonder whether we have been unaware of the great qualities that we overlooked, stamped out, or knocked out in cyberspace.

Back to the topic. @shoptastic, please forgive me for anything I did or did not do.

The forum takes the sensitive and gives them a tough skin or we leave the forum. I was always sensitive in my personal life, yet cyber-space isn't the real world.... no eye contact, thank you's or have a nice day. People's insecurities play into our answers, that's why Jacob put in a toggle. Moderators and others get a kick out of the drama, just the way it is.....if you feel you are really sensitive (and you may be), the forum is a place you can leave and take a breather.

Sorry you feel the way you do. Don't know what transpired, but try not to let it get to you. It's easy to say things on a forum when no one knows who you are. No excuse, but just something to keep in mind.

BTW, what happened to Sybil? I haven't seen anything from her, now that Irene mentioned her name. Just wondering.

shoptastic, please stay and remain active with the forum. I value your posts.

As for the bullies, they obviously have issues. Report their harassing threads. Jacob is very good at dealing with them.

It's a shame that another thread like this is posted.

There is a big difference between snark, sarcasm and bullying. Calling the first two the last, doesn't make it so.

honny, she posted it...has to be something she's after. I don't see her being bullied, we perceive things differently.

I don't think she's been bullied either, but people have been quite rude to her. And no, I don't think those are the same things either.

Bullies exist on this forum. The two I'm thinking about haven't been around for a while, and the third, I have him toggled.

I say all that to say, shoptastic should not make their insecurities hers!

Ill start by saying I don't know if shoptastic was or was not bullied. I think while bulling in person can have damage these snowflakes and younger generation need to learn to fight back, grow a tougher skin, or if possibly remove themselves from the situation where they get bullied if like this instance its a online forum. Toggle is an option also. It is this younger generation that needs a punch in the mouth. The older ones all grew up and learned that the only people who can be continuously bullied are those who allow it.

Shopping Western NY, Northeast and Central PA, and parts of Ohio and West Virginia. Have car will travel anywhere if the monies right.
Invariably when someone says the word bully, in a forum, people all want to blame the victim. I have personally seen some people follow the OP around making rude remarks. I think it's a shame. I wouldn't bother with it either. Life is too short. And I am most definitely not a snowflake.
My best to you, Shoptastic. For what it's worth I'm sorry this happened.

Sybil2 was in a merchandising post a few days ago insulting someone. She's not done with her shenanigans.

It's too bad someone feels bullied enough to leave and that people are blaming the victim.
But I didn't see the post that is being referred to so I don't want to speak out of turn. We don't have to be mean to each other to exchange information. No one should have to toggle someone to hide out from insults. That is too bad. I take time outs from time to time when this happens. Maybe you will come back after awhile? Good luck.
If someone wants to leave then just leave. Why the need to make a post about it? This is the second if not third time OP has threatened to leave the forum and it feels attention seeking imo.

Not only is the term bully being inappropriately used but threads like these creates more division within the forum. It becomes a finger waving blame sensation. People who may not have anything to do with this particular poster's distress are being used to spark up old grievances.
Expressing an opinion different from mine is not bullying it's a discussion!

It's good to get different points of view on situations and issues. The corner of the world we each inhabit is so small (relatively speaking) and we are likely to be surrounded by like minded individuals IRL.

Mature, emotionally stable adults do not need the attention/validation by the forum members obtained by starting posts like this one. And no, the first part of the above sentence is not meant to be insulting or bullying, it is an expression of my opinion/perception.
bullies are cowards. don't let others define you or limit you.

bullies do not need a reason to bully, just a target. they also do not need a reason, just an excuse. blaming the victim of bullying is misdirected. I learned a long time ago that bullies are insecure weak mean and seek weaker more insecure people to target for their pathological need to feel better about themselves. Nothing a swift (cyber) kick in the fanny can't settle.
