I see a similar shop. This MSC is really cheap most of the time with these shops. You have to make a Cafe purchase and a retail purchase for reimbursement only, no fee. Someone will either take it for the listed price or take it with a few dollars bonus. It really amazes me when people take this kind of low pay shop. I can see it as being part of a route but still, you have to evaluate several departments too. Definitely not worth it under any circumstance. This is just as bad as the shops by another MSC where you evaluate 2 electronics associates for a grand sum of $14. No way.
I accepted a shop like that once. Then a week later I was reviewing my calendar and realized that it was a crummy shop, and I cancelled it. The only thing to do for those is to not take them, then watch to see if the MSC gets desperate enough to increase the fee as their deadline ends. I LOVE the type of business the shop I looked at is for, but I wasn't prepared to do all that work for only a $5 reimbursement.
Oh, even better -- the huge "home improvement" stores where you must interact with FOUR departments. And that's AFTER you order on-line to pick up in the store. After you do the MS, you have to go back in and return the item you just picked up. Narrative is detailed and extensive. Last one I did, I was on-site an hour and a quarter, report took way over an hour. This shop is offered at $10. Requires a small purchase as POV, but it is reimbursed, I think up to $2. I cannot BELIEVE any of these offers get accepted! Needless to say, I did NOT take it at "base pay".
I did one of these for $20 plus the reimbursement. I didn't think it was worth it even at that price. There are four interactions on the sales floor, evaluation of the store cleanliness, purchase at and evaluation of the cafe. A non-reimbursed purchase at the main register which can be returned if desired.
To me they're worth it at $15 plus cafe reimbursement. You don't have to clean the shoes of the employees, just simple employee evals and the report is super simple.
I used the Make an Offer button and got paid nicely for these last month.
Since there's no reimbursement, aren't you able to return the item? I still don't think it would be worth it for $5, but still. . .

This store has no cafe, no music department. Just books, magazines, gifts/accessories. I don't see any Make An Offer option. Just Accept or Decline. (Need I add it's still open?)
Hang in there!! In my area, I actually DID see a "Make An Offer" option a couple of cycles ago....that's been the only time....otherwise, I have seen them raise the fee, but not to anything I would personally accept.@ShopWhisperer wrote:

All right I have my own entry for this topic. I just saw this today and unless I'm misreading it, this is CRAZY for the amount the MSC is paying

For this assignment, shoppers are visiting various service establishments located at an outlet center. Shoppers who complete an overall evaluation must shop multiple stores, including retail and service stores, as well as food establishments.
Please include detailed comments in your narratives describing your observations. Also please make sure to get a good description of the center associates you interact with (Management, Custodial, Security) to include in your comments. Thank you.

Last time I heard/saw the Mall shops, and all that you mentioned, those shops started at $10. Was that at the end of last year or earlier this year. I thought someone must have left a zero off of the end of it, but after calling I found out they were serious. Some people posted on this forum that they completed them at about that price! I don't know, maybe if you job around the mall anyway? omg!
Obviously, I have shopper bias. I would love to shop a bookstore! I would not care about the number of interactions, the pay, or the number of characters in the narrative. I would just be in my version of heaven on earth! I am less willing to do grocery shops involving multiple departments, multiple interactions, and some narrative. The multi-department shops are probably comparable. I can do more grocery store shops. But I would want to shop in the bookstore.

Mine was two stories of sheer bliss! I made a point to make it the last shop of the day so I could spend as much time as I wanted to. Although I have never received an offer of assistance or even a greeting in the children's department, every other Department and it's accompanying Associate is incredibly knowledgeable and helpful.
I'm not a scary story kinda' person, but currently Stephen King has my admiration and interest with The Dark Tower. I've bought a collection of coffee table books that I just adore. Anyway, that's why it's such an easy shop and easy report because the Associates are actually doing what they're supposed to be doing.

Okay today for the same MSC I saw a somewhat modified version of this shop (probably couldn't get anyone with the above version) but I still think it's crazy.
For this assignment, shoppers are visiting various retail merchants located at an outlet center.
• No purchase is required at retail tenants.
• Shoppers must spend 10 minutes in each store and interact with an associate during their visit (specific questions needed are on the evaluation form).
• The retail survey contains 16 questions with a narrative about the interaction with the associate. Shoppers should ask about a specific item that is located in the store, so the associate has a chance to suggest additional merchandise and/or close the sale. Narratives should include information about the merchandise that was discussed, the pricing information mentioned, andy additional information provided to you by the associate when they assisted you.
• GeoVerify is required for every retail store/shop, so shoppers must have a smartphone equipped with this free app.
• Photos are required (front of store & inside) and must be uploaded when submitting results.
Be sure to read through the survey and instructions prior to the visit.

That is wild, there could be a 100 stores at the outlet. Could you imagine the report?
If this the assignment that I think it may be, each individual store had its own report, so it was not too bad. However, the added requirements of having to take pictures--inside AND outside each store--and the need for GeoVerify, with no additional shopper fee, entitles this to join the 10' pole list.
One company keeps offering a retail shop with purchase requirement, up to $15 reimbursement and pays $3. They do give the option to return the purchase and keep the reimbursement money but still, that's more work on you. If they offered a $5 reimbursement and paid $13, I'd be more inclined to accept. And they wonder why they're having trouble filling this shop.
If the purchase can be returned and the reimbursement kept, it wouldn't matter to me which way they divvied it up.

The $2 phone shops floating around recently seem pretty absurd also.
Actually I think it does because if it's a pain in the neck to return (especially if you have to wait a day or so) then you're less likely to return it. But you're right in that the numbers are the same.@LisaSTL wrote:

I did the same bookstore shop a few years ago from a different msc. At the time the fee was $15 and the purchase requirement was very small. I don't remember but I do remember browsing the inexpensive items near the front desk and finding a cheap postcard. I was paid for that shop and it was pretty fun but it was a new shop for the msc and I noticed all the unfilled locations disappeared from the list shortly after I accepted. Mine was not cancelled but the whole program went away. For $15 a few years ago it was worth it..For $5 even though there has been little inflation in the meantime....not at all.

sassy, obviously the fee and the location are always my main consideration with any shop, more so with a purchase/return. I also would not waste time trying to find something at a specific price point if the plan was to return it.

I did this shop yesterday. $5 fee and $5 reimbursement. 
I was already in the area and literally did two shops next door so I figured I'd try it out. This shop should pay a min of $20.

I am pretty sure this is MF since Make an Offer is mentioned. It will accept $5 but not $10 in my area. They have a selection of books in the 70% off the lowest price and I picked up a book for my grandkids for under $2. The $5 coffee was good.

The problem is they do find shoppers to take them and that is why they continue to lower fees and reimbursements. It's like the theme parks. Everyone complains when they raise their ticket and food prices. I hear and read how greedy they are and they don't use that money to pay their employees, boycott them, blah blah blah. I spend a lot of time at the Orlando theme parks and guests are going and paying. It is a matter of how much, or in the case of MS companies and clients, how little is too much. When no one takes the shops or they have to offer large bonuses at the end of the month to get them completed, they will raise the fee. JMHO
I love the shops that say 'we are desperate to get this one booked!' like it's life or death and then you look at the pay and it's $7.00 no reimbursement. If you are that desperate you should up that price bub.
