Guess how much this shop pays...

The Secret Service - www.thesecretservice.co.uk pay three times the fee and reimbursement of other MSC's and they pay within 24 hours if not less after the assignment has been completed. Its an insult to pay less

This is interesting! Who pays the fees in the UK, and who pays the fees in the US? Are UK fees in US Dollars or other monetary system? If we knew this, we could get an idea of how similar shops are handled in different countries. TIA! smiling smiley

Yes, I would do it! I could hang out in that store for hours and would observe all that anyway!
Why did I get tagged for a follow up reading of this post? I mean why bother sometimes I will try and follow up on a post that I have put out there, but I had no idea this was out there hanging loose. I had nothing to do with it anyway. Sometimes I take a low ball offer because I haven't done the shop before. but sometimes when they call me My refrigerator or dishwasher is running and I have to go catch it.

I once made the mistake of conducting a phone shop to evaluate a car dealership. It paid $3 and took about 30 minutes to conduct, including the report. The worst part was the dealer called me relentlessly and wouldn't leave me alone. I had to block their number. I now only accept phone shops for a minimum of $10.

Oh, even better -- the huge "home improvement" stores where you must interact with FOUR departments. And that's AFTER you order on-line to pick up in the store. After you do the MS, you have to go back in and return the item you just picked up. Narrative is detailed and extensive. Last one I did, I was on-site an hour and a quarter, report took way over an hour. This shop is offered at $10. Requires a small purchase as POV, but it is reimbursed, I think up to $2. I cannot BELIEVE any of these offers get accepted! Needless to say, I did NOT take it at "base pay".
And then if you get one slight thing incorrect, they refuse to pay! You are visiting four departments, ordering online and going to the service desk twice and evaluating a restroom...you are bound to get some minute thing incorrect.

Just got my first phone call with, can you do this shop for $7, and it's listed for $12 on the board. I couldn't believe it, kind of freaked out and just hung up before I said something rude.

I do not understand how doing what is easy and/or enjoyable for me could make anything difficult for any other shopper. If the tasks in this shop are difficult for another shopper, the shopper can consider their shopping skills, available time, and interests instead of insinuating that I or anyone else who completes and/or likes this shop is making things difficult for others.
As OP, I don't believe that you're making it difficult for others. Some would disagree. I couldn't believe the company was being so cheap. If it fits your life, far be it from me to criticize. It makes sense to me if you're going there anyway. Still, I don't know how complicated the report is, but I don't think you would disagree that it's very little compensation, especially for checking multiple departments.
Gas alone stops me from doing most shops these days. The pay is too low. It's not about the time it takes to do a report so much, as just being reimbursed and not eating up the pay with gas. A few years back, it was a lot of fun and paid decently. I've watched the pay decline almost everywhere, so basically, I'm only doing a few of the food shops that give me a lunch or dinner I wouldn't have otherwise and at least covers my gas to get there and back.

Yes i saw this. It says you can take the item back for a refund. But you get paid nothing. I was shocked. Why even offer this?
I wait till the end of the month and call them and ask for $25 to $30 plus reimbursement and usually get it.

The issue is they offer what they so because people accept it at that low rate. There are three locations in my city that i do for peanuts ($10)...but there are others for which i get more. Way more. I did 26 of these shops and it was more than worth it.
When I first saw this shop on the board I saw it listed as $5 reimbursement and no fee. I thought it was a typo so contacted the MSC and confirmed. There was no way I'd do it. When it finally went up to $5 and $5 reimbursement, I decided to do it because like some of the others I AM a big book person and I decided to count it as a discount on a book. The report was actually not bad at all. But I wouldn't do it for the $5 reimbursement. I'd only ever do it again if there was a fee attached. I'd be ok with $10 plus the $5 reimbursement because I love books. They did indicate that the small required purchase can be returned but I'm like - that's a lot of work (and gas).
I still remember a company (not naming it don't worry). Drove me crazy with a gas station visit requests.

The pay . . . $2.50.
Gas they would pay me back for . . . $5.00

With gas over $1.00 who seriously buys $5 liters or less of gasoline?
Every time I open Gigspot I have to see Alta 360 gas station shops that pay $5 with a $1 reimbursement. Ridiculous. The pictures are way more than the cheap $13 MF. MF requires two pics, overall and price sign. Alta requires 6 pics, overall, price sign, canopy, dispenser, building and restroom. You must quote the greeting and answer each no answer for 21 questions. They are out of their minds.
I once had a MC call to see if I could do a visit. I said I couldn't because I wasn't going to be in the area. They said they could offer me a $5 bonus. I thanked them for it but stuck firm and said I could not do it. A week later they call back for the same visit. They say they can offer me a $3 bonus. I told him, last week when they called they offered $5 so why only $3 now - when the month was ending in a few days meaning doing it was even more desperate. I say I won't do it for less than the $5 they offered me last week. He says he will go ask his boss. He comes back and says they can only offer $3 and do I want it. I stand firm and say doing it for less than the $5 they offered last week is something I won't do and now I won't do it for less than $10. That ended the conversation ASAP.

I do agree that it is offensive and laughable that we see visits posted near the end of the month as being "Desperate" yet they are reimbursement only and don't pay. Sorry (Not really) but if you "Desperately" need something done, to quote Cuba Gooding, Jr. in "Jerry Maguire"................SHOW ME THE MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I did one of these book shops. Never again. Way too much work for very little pay. I did it because I was in the area anyway.

I would have told them if you're not willing to pay $10 or more, you're not desperate enough.
How about this:

URGENT $25 Apartment Assignments Available In Your Area

That $25.00 barely pays for my travel there and time on the site. God forbid a current resident walks on the scene complaining of the roaches or sewer pipe smell, then it takes even longer. If the report was click yes/no and a 300 word summary, then maybe, just maybe. Apply Cuba's $$$ statement here!
$2 parking shop, out there now. Yes a whopping $2! Take, pics of company vehicles in hotel, lots.
I remember a company swearing they had an urgent job only I could do for them, and I had to do it. Not MS BTW, but same contracting stuff.

The pay $7 for a job that would've taken me 2 hours driving both ways.tongue sticking out smiley

Got a desparate e-mail saying they needed a normal $11 plus reimbursement of $7.50 shop done. They were offering a bonus to bring the total to $27. I sent the scheduler an e-mail stating that I would do the shop for $35 total which I felt was fair considering it was a distance from me. She replied saying it was $27.

Two days later it was now $29. I then resubmitted my offer and it was accepted and I made it part of a mini route.

I guess both schedulers and shoppers play the waiting game.

This happened to me as well. I had to block their number on my phone. I did about 6 of them for Intellishop and this one sales person would just keep calling even after I told him that I already bought a vehicle. I wish I knew how to use those fake numbers you can generate online. Anyone have a site recommendation for this?

These take about 10-15 minutes to do. They are $8 in my area. I get gas, which I need anyways and only do ones near my home or work. I have been bonused to $15 on a hard to fill station. They end up coming to me every month on this same station because it is in the "hood", I guess. LOL
