Any advice on what to do with a shipping situation when I don't feel at fault?

I applied for a some assignments that require materials to be shipped out. The assignments pay $33 total for 3 shops but they are all quite close to where I am staying.

Well, the company that shipped me the materials shipped out 3 separate packets and they were heading to my Post Office Box and I'd need to sign for them. Why 3 packages? Dunno. Maybe just policy or something.

My address is my post office box, my profile with this company is my PO box, my 1099/I9 with them is the PO Box... and yet, somehow they FedEx home delivery shipped these and I got an alert that no one was home when they attempted delivery.

HOME delivery to where???? I don't live at the post office...

Well... apparently a rental unit I own that has not been occupied for an entire year....

How did they get that address? Did the Post Master give it to them? Did the driver just start asking around town? Did they Google search my name? This address is not associated with anything of mine other than my electricity bill because I do have power to the unit right now but it isn't even up for rent right now. It's sitting as a storage building for supplies and materials -- lumber, concrete blocks, yada yada.

I dunno how they got this address to the renal but the company I was contracted through is refusing to help. They are telling me I will either need to drive 2 hours to the depot to pick up the packets that FedEx is now holding, pay $14 per package to have redirected to me, or I could try calling Fedex and asking for one more delivery scheduled and go to my rental to pick it up -- still an hour out of the way.

No where was I ever asked for a physical address and someone had to create a label for these so surely they would have had time to call, email, or alert me that they needed a physical home address. I've been layin' on my sweetest voice and nicest emails and phone calls but I'm very frustrated this morning. There are months I do $200-$300 worth of work for this one client, so what gives -_-

The delivery attempts happened the day before Thanksgiving, the day of, and the day after. I was in West Virginia with my family, and even still, this is a rental unit that is not associated with anything and especially not mystery shopping. Is this the companies fault? Is this Fedex's issue? I don't feel at fault here :/ How was I to know they would pull a random address out of the hat and try to delivery there?

BLAHHHHHHH Any advice?

I still don't think this is my fault. I was anticipating going to my Post Office and signing with the Post Master for the packages. The Fedex I called even has the PO as the address and says they will attempt to contact the driver and see what is up.

I'm wondering how they magically got the rental address.... -_-
I'm also wondering why someone sent Fedex Home Delivery signature ID required to a post office box....

I wonder if I'll be let go if I just let these all go back return to sender -_-

I wouldn't care. There's enough work in this world. First off it is 100% the MSC's fault they attempted a FedEx delivery to a PO Box. Anybody with half a brain, ESPECIALLY someone who was put in charge of shipping items to contractors, should know FedEx doesn't ship to a PO Box. That FedEx attempted to deliver to a different address is either their fault, or the MSC's fault, it is not your fault in the least. I would tell the MSC they need to ship the items to my PO Box or give them a physical address to send the items to and let them sort out the FedEx mess. You have absolutely nothing to do with that. It's between them and FedEx. Not your monkey, not your circus.

Property tax records are searchable by owner's name in most jurisdictions. They may have used that and selected the wrong address.

Ah, when you say it this way -- it makes it less curious, but I figure that would have been the MS and not the Fedex driver. The story gets even more weird because the property they attempted delivery to is in another zip code a town over :/

I didn't think anything of it initially with Fedex when I was notified of shipping because they have the SmartPost where Fedex packs it all the way to the Post Office and then hands over to the USPS for instances where areas are rural -- like mine. :/

I recently had a similar situation. I purchased something online (not a shop). I didn't know they would ship FedEx. Like you I only use a post office box. FedEx somehow delivered it to my house. They could not have found my address via county records because my residence is hidden due to a bill that was passed protecting those that work in law enforcement. Yet they tracked me down. Privacy is a thing of the past.

Shopping up and down the Colorado Rocky Mountain front range.
When you applied did you know that they would be shipping you materials via Fed Ex?
Usually, they have me confirm my address even though it hasn't changed in over 10 years.
I intersecpt the package and have it held at the fed ex office or other nearby place they will deliver.
As soon as I get a notice that the package is in transit I say I will pick up at the office. That way I dont need to be at home to sign
I did not know -- there was no indication it would be sent via Fedex until I received a tracking number -- which still didn't alarm me because it had my PO Box on it and FedEx smart post does a USPS delivery. My address was confirmed as my PO Box. The Fedex depot is more than an hour each way from my home, so a two hour round trip drive if I were to go pick these up -- if they haven't already started their journey back after three failed attempts at delivery. Apparently I need an account for a $5 redirect and when I went to set that up, it kept giving me issues because my debit card billing address doesn't match the shipping address -_-

My guess is that they may have stopped and asked the Post Master. He would likely have a record of the address since I had to sign for the tenant to get a post office box in the area stating they did in fact live at the residence when they were in the rental -- a full year plus ago

I don't understand this whole thought of the receiver is the one at fault in this case (or any other). YOU should not be the one to pay, or have to drive, to pick up a package. That the package is sent via the correct carrier and to the correct address is ALWAYS ON THE SHIPPER.

I am registered with both Fedex and UPS. Of course they can only notify me of psckages designated to be delivered to my address I registered. Then I can redirect deliveries ahead of time.

The few jobs I have applied for that send materials by Fedex make it clear about shipment and receipt expectations. The sender designates the ship to address. They must have sent you the tracking numbers. Use those to see the address they used. Fedex will tell you if they redirected the deliveries.

I am certain they have used the PO Box. I even sent them screen shots of all the info on my shopper profile, the shipping notification I finally received, the address on the Fedex, and the reps I spoke to. All over a few bucks 0_o very frustrated. I keep trying to sign up and it won't accept my debit cards because my PO Box and physical don't match and it doesn't match where they are attempting delivery. Blech. Allegedly, the shipper needs to help in this instance. It's Monday, so they packages are probably on the way to return to sender now. Oh-the-well.

Oh, the joy continues on this. A few days after the shop is late, I get emails wanting updates on my shop to which I reply that I have not received my materials due to a company error someone made shipping them out to me. I explain that I supplied a Post Office Box, my materials were sent, and that a Fedex driver attempted to deliver them to a rental unit I own an hour away. I also explain that I was asked for $14 to redirect a package that I was never at fault for misdirecting in the first place, that Fedex never called or emailed me, and that the initial shipper didn't either.

Well, same thing two more days in a row, to which I also reply. Another week goes by and I am asked if I have shipped my materials back and could I update them with my tracking number for the shipment. WHAT????????????????????????????????????????????????/

Sounds like someone needs to get their act together.
