PORTABLE SCANNERS: Recommendations please

Can anybody recommend any portable scanners please for uploading receipts when I am on the road for the day??? Read about one called "Neat Receipts" on the V-God site.

Have not Googled this topic yet, as I prefer asking for your valued opinions first.

Many Thanks

Arch,
Why scan when you can take a digital picture and then upload from a netbook or laptop on the road? Free wifi at Starbucks and most McDonalds now, plus Panera, etc.

Based in MD, near DC
Shopping from the Carolinas to New York
Have video cam; will travel

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
"Neat Receipts" was discussed here some months ago. With a cost even used or refurbished of more than a digital camera and with a size of about a package of legal size copy paper and I gather you need to upload immediately as it has no memory storage capacity, it hardly struck me as a 'gotta have'.
If anyone still wants to a scanner that's portable, I can recommend the Cannon LiDE 30.

I picked one up on sale many years back as part of a shop so my end cost was something like $14 for it. I love it because it's the same profile as my MacBook and will fit side by side in the case with it (I have a 17" screen, so you will be bummed out if you try to pair this with a small laptop).

I like that it works in the background and powers off the USB bus. I don't have to fiddle with camera settings of flattening receipts, so I can scan receipts in the car and they magically appear in the right folder.
SteveSoCal,

Thanks for the info.

If I am on the road without a laptop, can that Canon scanner be plugged into an internet cafe or library pc and ready to use without any majoring tinkering??? I just saw one listed on Ebay with a reputable seller for $15.00 (item is .99, shipping is 14.00) LOL.

Many Thanks
Is the Cannon Lide 30 wirless? If not, how do you use it in the car? I have a laptop that I take with me, however, if I can't save the report until I get home to scan the receipt, I can't do the report. Sounds like a great soultion
It runs off USB power, but you need to have the Cannon software installed to make it work, so no sense in using it without a laptop.

I've had this one for many years and I'm shocked that it continues to work. It's travelled all over the world with me.
Be aware that the Canon Lide 30 may not be compatible with Vista or Win7 in either 32 or 64 bit versions.
I run it with Mac OSX these days so I can't speak much to the PC compatibility. The last windows system I used it on was XP (I've had it for a while)!
