I second this!
Doing a dine-in shop next week there, and will check out the bar situation. Wish you could do those a little earlier in the day. I wouldn't mind a late lunch type meal at the bar, but sill feel weird about eating dinner.

When I do them, almost everyone at the bar orders food. It's typical for out of town people on business to eat at the bar, and many people who are dining solo (or as a couple or group) like to dine at the bar. It's even normal for people dining solo to drink just water, tea, or soda instead of alcohol along with their meal. A lot of people who are alone at a restaurant prefer the bar over being seated in the dining room. I know that I like it much better when I have been out of town alone in the past, no screaming kids, noisy groups, etc. Whenever I am alone and seated in the dining room, I feel sort of awkward.
You just named all the reasons I opt for dining at the bar when traveling alone. I have felt most awkward sitting at a table.

Well, there's a hotel right next to the restaurant, so they get a lot of business travelers. It would be easy enough if, if it came up, to say I'm in town on business and staying next door.

When I travel alone, I don't mind eating at a table by myself. I bring a good book, order a cocktail and a nice dinner, and relax.... Although after a few days, room service looks pretty darn appealing.

My kind of report. I will be doing this one ASAP. There's only one within 50 miles of me, and nobody wants it.
Here's to hoping they bonused it nicely for you, SoCalMama.

Birdy, TR is not exactly a relaxing environment, with loud country music, line dancing, and clapping going on!

True, that! Although my local one is always crazy busy, I haven't yet seen line dancing there! Would be entertaining, though.

I've never seen dancing at any of the ones I've been to either. The closest they come is when someone has a birthday. But even then it's just singing around a saddle.

I am brand new with the company that has Texas Roadhouse as a client. We went to Texas Roadhouse over the weekend, the very next day I received an email to shop TR! This is one of my favorite restaurants and will definitely take one of the shops (likely bar after reading this)!
I did that and it shows there's a fee to sign up! Is it for real?
Lol maybe I'm the only one that's OK eating alone, whether at the bar or at the table. Then again, I travel a lot alone for work and for pleasure. Eating alone at the bar top gives me the chance to engage in small talk with those around me and with the servers, though I'm a bit more conservative when it's a shop.

Very infrequently shopping the Greater Denver Area, Colorado Springs and in-between in Colorado these days.
You have probably found a website that wants to sell you information that is free. None of us pay money for access to mystery shops.

Texas Road House dining. The most important is the timing. I take a small pad of paper, jot down start time:
seating time: Server time: Order time: salad etc. Your receipt has all of the food information on it. I do one narrative from start to finish by just answering their questions. The rest is simple, takes me about 20 minutes. I have been doing this shop for years.
Birdy C You can't sit alone in the restaurant.

I know that; I was just commenting that I don't mind dining alone when eating in a restaurant's dining room. The DR shop instructions are clear you must bring at least one other person with you. I bring my husband, who's a great help with the timings.

I use the notepad on my phone and input the prompts. Then I just have to fill in timings, descriptions, etc., as needed. It helps a lot!

You can sit alone in the restaurant. Just let your scheduler know beforehand.

You know haw many emails the scheduler sends out. I self assigned a dining room shop by accident. When I told the scheduler that I only do the bar shops, she told me I could do the dining room by myself.

Wow HonnyBrown I had no idea that I could do one alone. Good to know.

Mmmm, I wouldn't count on it, no offense Honny, but that may have just been an exception.
They go fast in my area. 95 % of the time when I go out to eat I get water. The only time I will get a drink is if it comes in a combo.

When I go to places like this, I like to sit in the dning room. Now when I travel and there is a shop and it requires bar sitting I may sit at the bar.
TR is one of my and my fiance's favorite places to eat, so I will grab all of them I can. I don't want to sit at the bar though. I'd prefer the extra $10 and a little extra report work. We'd have already eaten there, so I see it as a $35 credit to the bill.

Granted, I've only done one, lol, but I did what someone above said and just jotted the timings in a little notebook.

I have another one this weekend and I'm pretty happy about it lol. Granted, two steaks, an appetizer and an iced tea plus minimum 15 percent does NOT come in at $35. More like $55. Still, IMHO, cheap dinner and good food. smiling smiley

Just out shopping around...
Are you not allowed to post the name of the company that does Texas Roadhouse shops or is it different company’s in different states?
Please read the forum topic 'New Mystery Shoppers'. It will provide helpful info.

We are not allowed to name both the MSC and their client together.

For example, you can say that Intellishop and Maritz has grocery stores. You can say Texas Roadhouse is shopped by one of the MSC on the list of companies on the homepage.

A shopper really needs to join as many companies as you can, at least 100.

This is a great shop and one of my favorites. If you love the large steaks and are willing to pay extra (over the reimbursement) for them, that's great. There are some places I happily go over reimbursement. That said, it's pretty easy to stay under reimbursement at TR.

I do Bar shops alone, and I order a beer and a steak. With tip, I'm under reimbursement.

When I do the dining shops and bring someone, we usually order water and an appetizer. With two entrees, which come with two sides, and the tip, I'm usually under reimbursement. Sometimes I bring two people and go over reimbursement about $5-10. There are a lot of really good steak houses near here, so I don't always order the steak at TR where I think their steak is okay but not wonderful. They have a couple of really great salads and their ribs are good. Their burgers are good. The chicken fried steak is pretty good.

On Wednesday, the medium sized sirloins are the price of the small sirloin. On Tuesdays, early bird prices are valid all evening. That knocks the price down a little. There are other nights with specials but I don't remember what they are - Tuesdays and Wednesdays are my favorites.
Different TR's must have different specials. I've been to one where on Wednesdays they have a steak and barbecue pork special, but I've never seen the ones you mention. Sunday - Thursday early bird specials from 3:30 - 5:30 and Fridays from 11:00 - 3:30 are about all I've seen around here. Since the dining room shops can't start until 6, keeping the total under reimbursement is tricky.

That is true. Go online to view the menu and find out the particular specials for the location you are shopping.
did a bar one sat. yes, they are a LOT easier... i started on restaurants and i barely need to write notes anymore. the bar though, is noisey but you get your meal a LOT faster thou.
Possibly. It was one of her many "Urgent" emails. When it was reposted, there was a $20 bonus.

I'm guessing that was the case, that it was an exception because it was an urgent shop. All the dining room shop comments I've received say "You are required to take at least 1 person with you, no more than 5 total people in your party."
