Do companies listen to our suggestions when we filled out reports?

My local Costco does that...they just mark a red line through the receipt and let you out. People are leaving with hundreds of dollars of items at Costco and they almost never look at the receipt let alone check the bags and boxes. If they were mystery shopped (by me) I would let them know. But then the line to get out of Costco would wrap all the way to the bathroom in the back so I could check for a hook while I was waiting for the people in front of me to be checked out of the store.

I think most do - my child & I do an age compliance shop & after many times selling her the item without ID, this last time she was asked. She used to feel bad, but I’ve explained that as she gets older and is able to do the alcohol compliance shops she will be saving companies and employees their liquor licenses and fines. She understands the importance of inspecting what is expected now.

When I ran our company’s MS program I was so happy when shoppers reported things that I had been suggesting for ages. Their comments carried more weight I guess. And I always ask customers to fill out surveys candidly. No need to complain about everything, that just makes one look petty, but honest feedback is how things can get changed for the better!
No hook? No problem. Use a messenger bag.

Still doesn't help with the coat problem.

Wear a shorter coat, more insulating layers under your clothes, or just ditch the need for the big/long/unwieldy coat. Just kidding. Some people cannot make those changes. May they be blessed with abundant coat hooks.

I shopped a branch of a bank in a not so grate location, in the city. The bank signage was torn a mess and there were light bulbs out. There was also a few street people, smoking out front. I did report all of this, the next month it was all cleaned up. They also added security at the front entrance. I do believe my report had at least some effect on the results.
I have noticed some changes in one restaurant chain that I would always comment that I'd like to see more healthy options on the menu. But generally speaking I think that their main focus is food and service and unfortunately sanitation is an after thought. The food and service are always very good but restrooms are consistently in need of attention and many glaring dusty spots.
I think a lot of the clients actually do take note of our comments, especially a certain gas station. I have always been able to award gift certificates on a revealed audit.

However, I have done several "Lazy" Furniture shops, and in every single one, the staff members were rude, pretty well ignored me, and had to be asked for help.

I pride myself on being believable, and always dress for the occasion. So I did not look at all like a penniless drifter. One sales person looked up from the book she was reading, said hello, then started reading again. Another one kept telling me to just look around, and left me three times during my visit. Another one actually pointed towards the sofas, and said, "They're over there".

Nothing has changed, so I have stopped doing those shops. They don't pay enough for me to be treated so rudely, and apparently the management could not care less about my comments.
I always wait for the "Lazy" shops to get bonused and I do them for $35. I am really glad that in my area they are not like the sales people at the stores you have shopped. That would be disheartening.
I do shops for Ardent every month and sometimes I have a conversation with one of their schedulers...it seems their one client really looks for particular things (did they say anything, did they converse with you, etc) and wants us to mark things down if even one little thing is not being followed. Last month they had us asking certain questions to see what kind of reaction we would get....and it sounds like the team members did not do such a good job with it since we're asking the same questions this month. And yes I have seen changes made with this client (team member more engaging etc) after we reported otherwise.

Here's another one where I think the client listened to our comments...a couple of years ago, I was badged at our airports to perform shops. The program ended (because the City of Chicago which runs the airports decided to end the contracts) and come to find out a number of months later one of the airports decided to make a change as far as which businesses could be at the airport. There was a huge transition as far as which businesses came and went. I'd like to think that those of us who did Mystery Shops there played a small role in which places they decided to keep or ask to move on.

I shopped a TV/internet/phone service provider and I mentioned one month that their roof was falling apart. The roofing tiles were literally falling apart and looked like crap. Month 2, same deal, same observation. Month 4, I get there and they have the whole roof torn apart replacing the roofing and tiles etc. So I think it depends on the Client and what type of expense its going to be and how soon they get get to it. As far as I am concerned I tell them what I see, they pay me, end of story. What they do with it is their deal. IF you want to pay me to tell you the same thing every time, who am I to complain.
I was doing a shop at a bakery style fast casual restaurant. When they brought our food to the table the dessert plates were placed on top of our basket of food. I thought it was unappetizing that the bottom of a plate was placed directly on my sandwich. Who knows what the bottom of the plate came in contact with before? I saw that all the employees were doing it. I mentioned it in my report. I almost want to go back just to see if they changed.
