I applied for a shop too, but still waiting to hear back. I haven't done a shop for this MSC before so I thought this one may be a good starter shop for this company. Will they send you an e-mail if they accept your application or do you need to sign in and view your application status? I applied for a shop in May.

You'll receive an email informing you that the survey(s) has/have been assigned to you.

I too signed up for them and was approved for 3 .
I see the MSC who assigns these visits and was scared away. I saw the "No Narrative" part and that was appealing. So to any who have done these visits...........how are they? Are they better than what is normally required from this MSC?

Oh, there’s definitely narrative required. Based on their usual narrative requirements, these are “no narrative” required, BUT narrative required, especially if your shop goes sideways.

Take heed.
My May and June apps are still sitting. smiling smiley I don't know if that's a blessing or a curse lol. I'll let them sit until there's something more exciting to do those weekends.

Heed taken.

Just out shopping around...

I did the beta test on this a few weeks ago and the report took me under 20 minutes. I wrote a few sentences for each question. I'm not sure if the sample is based on my report or not, though.

Is that your sample report online? 1 hour 55 minutes for dinner? That would be a 55 minute dinner and an hour nap for me.

Errr...sample probably is my report in that case. It was a catch-up dinner with a friend I hadn't seen in a while. We ate slowly because we were chatting a lot.

Any thoughts on doing these? I had not seen them for a while. I applied for a dinner and I know the MSC is usually slow to assign. Not a bad reimbursement for this style of restaurant. They specifically mention no narrative required but the sample report shows quite a bit of comments for each section. What are your favorite dishes for this restaurant?

I'm signed up with the company that offers them. I've never shoppe for them eather, but I immediately applied, because it was an $8.00 fee on top of $100 reimbursement! That's very rare from what I've seen and I'd be happy to take one for that deal.

Has anyone done one and can report on the form? I'm curious how easy it is too!
If you look at the post above yours you might find an answer to your question............

There are reasons that a body stays in motion
At the moment only demons come to mind
It's very easy. There are short narratives after each question. However, you can just regurgitate the questions in the answer narratives. Unless something extraordinary happened, easy report.

Did the employee blah blah? The employee blah blahed.
Can someone tell me the company of this shop? I applied for one and I lost my hard drive and for the life of me I can't remember the MSC, Thank you
No we cannot tell you, it’s a violation of the ICA. If you are assigned the shop, they will email you and then you will know the company.
Sorry, it's against forum rules and also a violation of the IC agreement we signed with the MSC. Its a pretty well known company and its on the list of official MSCs (see link below).
I put in my app on the 11th and it's still pending. How long did it take for others to have their apps approved?
The MSC is one of the slowest I know of to approve applications. It has been surmised by some on this forum that they like to keep the applications open until the job is actually successfully performed. That way they can fall back to another shopper if the job is flaked. For me it’s a real PIA.

How is that possible? As a shopper I wouldn't perform a shop until the application was accepted.

What they are trying to say is the MSC keeps all applications in the "TBD" status until the shopper assigned the visit actually does it and their report has been approved. Sorta like when people apply for a job the company that hires someone waits until the new hire starts the job before sending out fake and insincere emails saying they wish you success in your job search but it won't be with them - assuming they send you something at all (most don't)

Thanks for clarifying my post. That’s what I meant. The job is assigned to one shopper but the other applications are kept open until the job is actually successfully completed. Or at least that’s what I’ve been led to believe.

Shopmetrics shows you if the shop has been assigned to someone else, because it allows you to apply as the backup shopper, so that's neither correct, not possible.

If your application remains, the shop has not yet been assigned.....

So what’s your guess why they don’t assign shops earlier.
There have been many times when IPSOS and others have assigned a shop to someone else, yet my application has remained in applied status.
Funny thing, my application was just accepted! What a coincidence.

Maybe you got mine! I just checked and my two applications (for May and June) have been reduced to one in June with nothing assigned.

There's another thread where I go into detail about issues with scheduling. I'm not going to link to it here because of the whole client vs MSC mentioned in a thread issue...but, in general, I would suggest Occam's razor as a guide when trying to figure out why MSC's do the things they do.

They are probably just busy doing other stuff...
So I did a PFChangs shop last Saturday, report super simple straight forward. I have not eaten there in over 10 years and now I remember why! The food was mediocre, appetizer blah and we ordered the signature lettuce wrap ( vegetarian version though), the 2 main dishes one was excellent (the sea-bass) one was sub par, the dessert was average. So many other good restaurants in my area compared to this place. I wish with the amount $100 we could order at least 2 appetizers maybe I would have gotten another decent dish. Right after I did the shop, I got 2 emails saying that my report was overdue, it was very frustrating since I double checked my shop date and the guidelines clearly stated 24 hours. I wrote back to both emails and finally got a reply saying sorry for the mistake. It took a whole week, I finally got the report back and I got 100%. I will do another one if I get assigned just to eat the sea-bass!

That was basically my experience with the assignment...except I wasn't fortunate enough to order the sea bass. Either service and food quality there have waned or my expectations have grown from all the fine dining I've been doing the past decade.
