What is the max amount of shops you have done in one day?

@MFJohnston wrote:

"How many" shops you can do really depends on the type of shop. There is a huge difference between doing a dozen unrevealed gas station shops and doing a dozen car dealerships or written apartment shops.

While planning a big day of shopping, be sure you:
* Plan your route starting at the furthest location from home, if possible. (If your timing is off and you miss a shop, you want it to be the visit just down the street, not the one 50 miles away.)
* Estimate how long you are going to spend inside each location.
* Map the driving times between each location - be sure to account for potential traffic delays.
* Build in extra time - something will go sideways if you are doing 10 shops.
* Make sure you will have time to do all your reports after the shops.

Golden advice! Will take note of these points. Thank you.

I did 10 on Saturday. It was a mixture of gas stations and grocery stores. It makes for a long day. The first stop was a one hour drive.
Man.. I’m impressed with how many shops you guys do in a day! My max I think is 9 or 10 and honestly I don’t even like doing that many in 1 day... I like to have time to do other things even on shopping days...or just relax for the rest of the day...
So far, 8. I'm not sure I could do more than that, unless I leave the house at 7am. Which I never do. I have certain routes I like to do in 4 different directions, but the shops have to be there to make it worthwhile. It takes planning, so I only seem to be able to get that kind of day about once per month, since I have a full time job during the week, this is always a Saturday or a Sunday for me.
I have done one long distance route, including overnight. I doubled my usual total pay (reimbursements included) that month. One meal and motel room paid out of pocket, and gas was completely covered by the shops. I'm not saying that I wouldn't do it again, but I would be better prepared (pre-printing more of the reports, leaving earlier in the day, etc.)

What I won't do again is 6 shops in one day, 1 with a lengthy report and another I had never done before.
Not really. All of the locations were fairly close to each other in a good-sized city. What would've been crazy is if I kept going after dark. I could have approached 50 shops that day, yet stopped at 31 to relax for the evening.

That is the definition of insanity!!!!!
Not all shops are the same. Even in the video world it would be much easier to do 15 retail shops in 1 day than it would be to do say 5 new homes (not including "short shops"winking smiley. I think 4 full new home shops is as many as I've been able to do in 1 day and that was rough. But I don't like new home shops.

I think the most shops I've done in a day was 28. Those were gas station audits that were packed on top of each other. That route I averaged 3.5 per hour so that was almost exactly an 8 hour day.

How is it possible to do over 20 shops in one day? What kind of shops are these, and are the reports short and easy?

31 shops in one day is amazing! How is that possible? What kind of shops were they?
I think my best was around 22 to 25. I have done 80 in a 4 day stretch.

Shopping Western NY, Northeast and Central PA, and parts of Ohio and West Virginia. Have car will travel anywhere if the monies right.
My biggest day was 17. I regularly can do 10ish a day. But my best story is my niece was doing compliance shops. I set up the route for her and drove. She hopped out and did the shop while I set the GPS for the next location. As we drove to the next shop she inputted her shop. She did 33 on Saturday. We stayed overnight. It was a hotel shop for me but back when they had the ones where the were mid quality and you were only checking a few things. Next day she did 17 more on our way home. I did 5 gas stations on our way home. Again thy were easy ones. More checking out the service (no pictures). She made over 1000 that weekend. And then more because her dad took the cigarettes she was sold and resold them for her at work for 5.00 a pack.

I have done five shops in one day. I would never do this many again as three required lengthy writeup's.
I think my record is 15 and around 300 miles. It was 28 or 29 over a two day route with a lot of driving in rural areas. Two 8 hour days and total time for reports was maybe four hours at the most. The route was for a company requiring reports be submitted "within 8 hours." They were fine with me submitting the reports the day after I returned. The shops were all gas stations. The open stores averaged ten minutes and there were several closed locations sprinkled in. Those took just a couple of minutes to grab a few photos from the comfort of my car.

My top lately was 9; 4 banks, 4 postal and one retail that is narrative heavy. My issue with doing more isn't lack of time to perform the shops or write the reports but keeping them all straight in my mind in case there are future questions. As an example, if I do more than 3 or 4 bank shops a day and the MSC has follow up questions on one of them a week or two later, I struggle. I can look back in my notes but I won't actually remember the shop clearly and will mix up details from other bank shops done that day. In reality, there are almost never follow up questions but that isn't an excuse for me being unprepared.

Fifteen, I think... I tend to do bigger shops, so I can only do so many in a day. I’ve done 6 EPMS apartments in a day......

Wow how did you get the forms all done in time?
I think the most that I have done in a day is ten though not really sure. It was a cell phone audit that was supposed to take two hours which I have rarely spent more than 40 minutes on and eight gas stations 270 miles 5 hours drive time. Didn't even make a dollar a mile never again.

Yesterday I did 44 locations all within the same city. 8 more locations today, and 20 more tomorrow.
I'll end this project with a little over 200 shops. I started on the project April 26th...

Thank you everyone for sharing your experience! It's amazing to see how many shops can be performed in one day with an organized itinerary. Tuesday will be my first shot at doing a mutiple shop route. I'll be off from work and I'm looking forward to do atleast 10 shops, each in the $15-$25 range. Once I hone my organizational skills, I will attempt about 20 shops on my days off and 5-10 shops on the days I work.

The issue isn't *doing* the shops, it's writing up the reports after that becomes the problems. If you do five shops after work, and then each report takes 20 minutes, from opening it, to loading pictures or answering questions, to submitting, then you've added another 2 hours of work at home AFTER the shops. It can lead to some very late nights. And if you're doing that after work...it can be done, but it gets old fast. And it's hard on family relationships smiling smiley
Hubby and I both shop, and I work full-time, so...voice of experience here...I'm still looking for that perfect balance.
It isn't unusual for him to do 10-12 shops a day, every day. He grossed 3k last month.
The reports had a 24 hour deadline... I finished the next morning.

My max shops in a day is 4 and I made all the schedulers were ok with a 24 hr turnaround for the reports. So I have shopped one day, reports the next day. And yes, I have grossed as much as $1700 in a busy month. But that's me.
