What do you call the newest iPhone?

According to Apple, it's the iPhone ten (with the X standing in for the Roman numeral). However, the associates at all of the cell phone stores I'm doing refer to it as X (the letter). Did things change and I didn't get the memo?

10. And I freakin’ HATE it. Wish I got the 8. FaceID is pointless and slower than touch. The lack of a home button means that every interaction is a huge pain in the butt. It’s so powerful that most usb chargers can’t keep up with it if you’re using a GPS in your car.

I feel like I’m alone in this, but I hate it.

Seriously, nobody cares that you're offended.
You aren't alone. I have no intention of getting the damn thing. Face recognition requires you to put the phone right in front of your face instead of the more convenient and discreet touch ID. Finger gymnastics are required to close out apps. In general, it is a piss poor design.

And yes Kathy, I've noticed the same thing with associates referring to as X instead of 10. SMH..

The same as I call the X-Men and that movie, American History X....

iPhone X, or eye-fone ten.

Thanks for the name validation--and the phone review :-)

The Tagalog translations from the cartoon dubs during my childhood must’ve gotten them completely wrong then. Just like when I refer to the old guys at my office, the Generation 10 guys!

The guidelines say it's pronounced as the numeral "10," but the sales people at the two shops I've done have called it "X." So I don't ask for it by name; I say, "Oh, what about the newest iPhone," then see what they call it before I call it anything!

Oh, OK. That makes sense. You can tell I know nothing about the newest iPhones. I'm an Android owner. smiling smiley

Yeah, I had an sales associate that called the iphone X an "X". They're usually the newbies learning their product while the more seasoned SA called it the "Ten". So, I wonder, what would happen if you had some disfigurement on your face due to an accident or such? Or if you had cosmetic surgery? Would you be able to unlock your iphone? Good question to ask the SA to see what they answer with.
Just did one yesterday. All the associates were referring to it as TEN. But I think Sunny's pronunciation is more accurate.

I don't care what they call it as long as I get paid. I called it a super overpriced piece of crap. Not that I would spend $800 or more on a phone but I would go with Samsung Galaxy 7, 8, or 9 over the newest iPhone. Hell even Samsung Galaxy 4 had some of the features iPhone X is touting as new. I have done a tone of these cell phone shops recently and most associates prefer Android over Apple.

Shopping Western NY, Northeast and Central PA, and parts of Ohio and West Virginia. Have car will travel anywhere if the monies right.
With the possible exception of Tarantado, I think you are preaching to the choir. It seems to be the associates at cell phone stores who are clueless.

I did an evaluation yesterday on the iPhone X. That is how the guidelines referred to it. Unfortunately, the salesperson referred to it as an expensive piece of crap.
I'm not in the market for a new phone, and if I were, I would not get an iPhone. But a salesperson at one of the shops I did recently suggested a Google Pix 2, and after "test driving" it, I'd consider it. Seems to do a lot of what the pricier ones do and has all the features I'd want, and appears to be a good value. .

I just got a new phone..Samsung galaxy 7, that's about all this tech (NOT) gal can do. Has a decent skype for my kid, and a great camera. Their going to high tech themselves out of business.....,my phone cost $219.00, and is 25.00 a month, still does more than I need, and a great buy and larger than my old one...

I am not an Apple fan in general, although I do prefer my AppleTV over my Roku, and don't particularly like Android either. It's more of a lesser of two evils. I actually much prefer Windows phones (for a variety of reasons) but Verizon isn't carrying one anymore. The have had 3 Samsung phones and will never ever purchase another one as all 3 have been big pieces of s***. The last time I upgraded I went with the Pixel 2 XL and it's the best non-Windows phone phone I've ever owned. It's *almost* as good. I like it a lot.

I had a Windows phone once. Only one I wouldn't have again. It worked well for a while, but then it stopped syncing with my Outlook calendar (which I found bizarre, since both are Microsoft products). Over the next few months additional little things started going wrong, and added together they added up to a piece of excrement phone.

I never had any software problems with mine. Never had hardware problems with the first two but the Samsung one was junk.

I loved my LG Windows phone with the slide-out keyboard, and was disappointed that I couldn't upgrade to a more modern one. Does anyone even make a Windows phone anymore? I had a cheap Samsung Galaxy and liked it, and have a Moto G4 Play now. Very inexpensive, but takes great photos and does everything I need it to do. I'm not sure why I'd spend hundreds of dollars to get a phone that doesn't do much more than the one I have now. I find the bells and whistles pretty much unnecessary for my needs, but even if I needed them, my phone has a whole lot of them. Which I don't use, either.

Just this afternoon I had a cell phone shop and sure enough the associate said iPhone "X." I couldn't help myself and pointed out it is iPhone 10. The associate then the store manager both told me I was wrong.

I've thought about correcting them, but thought it might make me memorable.

I just got an 8 Plus... At the same time my wife got the X..... I'm happier with my 8 Plus than she is with her X.
(And I was just being lazy: I wanted something that worked just like my previous phone - an iPhone 6S.)

Kathy, believe me it did cross my mind. I just went for it anyway. In the big scheme of things, I doubt it made a huge impression on this bunch who thought everything was "awesome."
