Finally found an advantage to being silver

I did get the silver certificate as a new shopper about five or six months ago. I figured, it's only $15, tax deductible, okay. It has never made any difference until tonight. I was trying to self assign at BARE and it said I couldn't, I could only apply. Why? You must be silver certified. So I updated my profile, and bang, 3 self assigned shops. Who knew?

Maybe for a specific client? I can self-assign some of Bare's clients; others are application only. I enjoy a good relationship with Bare. They have several nice shops here. I'm uncertified, and haven't seen a reason yet.
How fascinating. I've been able to self assign shops from day 1. But generally they have relatively uninteresting offerings. I am scheduled to do 2 warranty shops for them but they have a date range that will have me in the area during the range so can be routed.
I have been a shopper with Bare for a year. They never have had anything until now. I self assgin three shops in one day and was approved.

All shops are self assigned 'cause if you didn't want to do them, You would not show an interest.

Carol, you must have the midas touch. Go Figure.
I work for Bare and recently was mailed a Casino I wanted, just brunch and food stuff (not gambling). I asked why I never saw that job, and they said, you have to complete xx amount of shops and maintain a 9/10....then you can self-assign and get more interesting jobs that are not on the board. Didn't know it had anything to do with being Silver (although I am), however if your score drops, you are no longer allowed to self-assign.

Qualification for self-assignment shops from Bare requires you to have completed a certain amount of shops. I think there's also a rating qualification, but the number of shops is definitely part of it -- I checked when I couldn't self-assign, and was told that's why I couldn't do it. (I think the number is 10.)
It is just this certain shop with BARE that requires you to be silver, not all their shops.
I have done a few shops for Bare, which I found quite time consuming. I am able to self-assign but never gave being Silver Certified a thought.
Self-assign is not possible with certain of their clients. I have done hundreds of shops for Bare. Some can be self-assigned, others cannot, regardless of completions, ratings or certification.
Okay, Lisa, thanks for clarifying. That is interesting, considering it is not that detailed of a shop.

Interesting timing folks. I have recently seen several BARE jobs that require a certification, which I do not have, and never figured I would want/need.
I suspect that in order to "sell" some clients it is necessary to tell them that you will use "Certified shoppers" as much as possible. Sales pitch rather than anything else.
What a good point, Flash. Yes, only use those that will cough up the $15 as they will be so much more qualified. It's kind of funny.
In spite of the negativity on this and other posts about certifications, I have found that having the silver certification is helpful in getting notifications. Yes, it is sometimes just for one client. I don't see that as a negative. I still evaluate whether I want to do any shop I'm offered. I haven't kept tabs on which ones I do require certification, so I can't give any statistical information or other details.
One othe good thing about certification is when they ask for it when registering, you have it...makes you look better.

Yes, this is the second time in the past 2 weeks I am seeing a shop for BARE where they only allow self-assigning to Silver certified shoppers. I really hope they don't get into habit of doing this.
I happened to have done 5 shops for BARE today that required being silver certified to self-assign. The fact that I had the certification allowed me to grab 5 in close proximity to each other before any of them disappeared. And they were no sweat. The report is short, it mostly took me about 6 or 7 minutes in the store (except for the one that I had to actually make a purchase and return it 15 minutes later. But no big deal, I did some personal shopping for 15 minutes.) I like working for them and the perfect score they give me. At the moment, they are my favorite MSC and I'm glad I have the SC to make working for them simpler.
