Beacon and Patient Point brochure replenishment project

A couple of these showed back up in my area, but I wasn't available on any of the days....

I learn something new every day, but not everyday!

Perhaps there are no "beacon" in my area because I don't know what you are talking about. Also nothing on the job board.

it’s another patient point job where they mail you a beacon and you put it into the tv to make it play patient point video. they must not have dropped on your area, yet. there weren’t a ton that dropped here, either, I only took 3 of them.
I intended to do my 'beacons" today, but the day went all wonky. I will place the beacons tomorrow. This sounds easy enough. Be careful on your stepladder if you use one, and follow the few applicable instructions. Take a few pics and wala! you are ready for the next item on your list.

I changed the title to include Beacon.

you didn’t have to do that smiling smiley well this should just be the official patient point thread i guess. one of my locations today had the tv mounted high up in a tough spot. went up with a ladder but couldn’t find usb input on either side.really couldn’t see much behind tv and i definitely wasn’t going to take it off the wall. hopefully they still pay me.

In future, can the tv's be moved slightly or angled, as needed? Can we use tweezers without damaging beacons? I ask these questions because a location staff member placed one beacon. Their more slender hand and longer fingers could fit in the narrow space between tv and wall and insert the beacon.

I remember one TV installed so high and jammed in a corner at a vet's office that I almost broke my neck doing the troubleshooting (this was month's ago when I used to see the HMN stuff in my area) but I finally got the TV working again!

that feeling when a doctor and patient come in right before you’re about to get your last room ugh. been waiting for a half hour.
have any of you done the tv job? how long does the patient point video play for? i have a location with 2 tv’s... one is in the break room... should be interesting lol.
I did the Patientpoint TV shop a couple of weeks ago. I had to watch each TV for 30 minutes and log what played. Very easy and very boring but the pay was right.

Did the brochure restock at the same office. It had eight racks, but the office would only let me do four of them since the other rooms were being used. It took 90 minutes to do 4 racks.

I got quicker after the first one.

The office manager said to come during lunch time for the best access. She also said Thursday was the best day since they had fewer providers working then. Calling ahead would pay off in a more sucessful shop.

I agree with bringing shopping bags for the old brochures to stay organized and not mixing up the old and new brochures.

There were several items in the boxes that didn't go in the racks, but no instructions on what to do with them.

If you mean the posters you give those to the staff. Kinda surprised they wouldn't let you do the other 4 rooms. Even in a busy practice there's usually 5 minutes between turns in a room so you can jump in really quick.

The TV project was...weird.
I couldn't do a room in 5 minutes, maybe I'm slow, but it was my first one and I wanted to make sure I didn't miss something.

Take a picture of the door. Empty the rack. Take a picture.

Replenish the rack. Take a picture.

Describe if it complied with their rules or not. Describe if the rack was broken, what was broken. One rack was damaged.

Walking back to where the boxes were stored took time and as they told me, there were too many boxes to carry them all with me.

This was my first one, so maybe I wasn't as quick as others who have done multiples before are.

Either way, I think the pay was fair, and the MSC may ask me to go back to finish the job. But that was never my intent.
I definitely got faster as I got more experienced. I now take a dolly with me for the boxes. I also take an empty box for the discards. I slit all the wrappers with my pocket knife from the spine-side of the booklets (to avoid cutting the paper) then grab several packs at a time to reload. Each time I open a new triple box I group the packets before starting so I don't spend time hunting for each one.

Even with these tips it takes me 7-8 minutes per room because of the new "empty rack" picture. Before that I used one hand to pull the old & the other to place the new.

Yeah, I basically do the same. Bring the boxes with you, maybe use one room to stage them and sort things out before you start pulling stuff. That way you have an empty box for the leftovers and things are ready to go. And definitely have a box cutter or something sharp to pop open the boxes and the packets.
i bring trash bags in, seems like the easiest way to do it. one bag per like 3-4 rooms. once you get it down, it shouldn't take you more than 7 minutes a room at most. it can occasionally take a bit of effort to to hook the bottom plastic piece in to cover the insert. the boxes, and brochures i just open with my hands, guess i'm animalistic like that.
My back hurts less when I slit box tape and plastic wrappers (I use little safety scissors) than when I tear them open with my hands. Mind you, it is satisfying, somehow, to tear into them and get something for all my efforts. Me cavewoman, bwahaha! Or not.

Thanks for this thread. I was considering taking some of these (unbelievable bonuses out here in the boonies, LOL!!), but I can't carry more than 5 lbs (yeah, FIVE, not fifty!), so this project is a no-go for me.
