Got junk?

I call Salvation Army and they take most everything if it"s in the garage. They need the stuff, with our fires many folks need help. I don't trust them money wise, they always charge too much and I though the reimbursement is 99.00, not 200.00. This latest is a new project replacing the old one (I thought), maybe MJF knows different.

After originally considering a garage sale, I have begun to think about one of these shops instead. Based on what everyone is saying, I would rather spend a couple of hours having a friend with a pick up take it all to Goodwill. My "pile" of stuff is approaching 10'x10'. It bugs me but still takes up such a small section of my basement the shop is not really motivating me now, LOL.

If you want to do good donate to someone other than goodwill. Salvation Army, council for the blind, Purple Heart almost anywhere is better than goodwill.

Yes, Goodwill is a non-profit company, but the CEO/Owner makes over $2 million a year. I have also heard other reasons not to donate to them.

Did one last week. Yes, if quote too high just have them take what is reimbursed
Plus i got a fee
They took a water heater
I would have had to pay a $54 dump fee
It waa an easy report.
I was not comfortable with this. I had to make an appointment and to agree to a price then say it was too expensive when they got here. I also needed to evaluate the truck. Many of the questions were looking for dishonesty. If the people need to be checked for integrity, I'm not comfortable inviting them in my home after agreeing to a price then saying it is too expensive. I'm certain anyone would be angry if someone did that and I don't necessarily want to do that in my home. It doesn't make sense to agree to a price then say no when they get here. Even if nothing happened when they were here, the people know where I live, and I just made them come here for nothing for no reason other than I felt like it.

I was also supposed to evaluate the truck. As I live in an apartment I would have to take the elevator and try to find where they parked and check out the truck. If I did that before, I would need to have them wait when they arrived. Of if I waited for them to leave, I'd have to sneak down and hope I could find them. Some of the things I was required to say/ask were pretty odd.

I've never had an assignment that felt unsafe before. It was only the second time I had to cancel an assignment after accepting it. I wish one could preview the questions before. The devil is often in the details. It makes a big difference if I need to go to a shop during rush hour, or if I have to have my car cleaned before, or if there are 12 essay questions after one is supposed to type a 15-minute conversation verbatim.
Yes, I can feel the pain of that. And it is really frustrating and I have even complained about it. As if it has done any good.
