Weekly goals

Hello. This may be on the board somewhere, so forgive me if it is. I am a working mom and wife. I was just wondering if any of you have weekly or monthly goals as far as income. I like to set a goal in other areas of my life. I just want to be realistic.
thanks in advance.

I'm a "full time" shopper (HAHAHA). Ok not full time but it is my primary income. I have weekly goals when I'm working and a yearly goal, but monthly doesn't work out too well for me. I worked 1 day in September. I'll be super busy until the middle of November but I won't work again until next year. I only work long routes and rarely do local(ish) shops unless it's a favor (ie the 1 day I worked in September). For route work my goal is $500 in fees per day.

No weekly goals here. I learned the sleepy way not to do so much of this work that other activities would be harmed or sacrificed. I have other jobs and I love my fave activities. I am happiest when I can do some of everything that I want to do. I work in this industry occasionally, and I can do more or less as wanted or needed. This works well for me-- and maybe only for me.

I am a VERY VERY Part-Time shopper. My goals are $200.00/month. If I make more than that, I'm thrilled! Mystery shoppers all come with different goals. Mine are small, but works for me.
I don't set goals, I just take what I feel like taking and doing. It's been working out very well for me.
Ditto, no goals, not into pressuring myself. Work part time, less and less as time goes by, but if I see something I want, I apply. Reimbursements for good food makes me happy, my tummy full and my bank account thankful.
I do it for going out without my having to spend a fortune, and be able to treat a friend, but mostly do lunches alone. I say I make about 400.00 per month between my grocery shops, restaurants, oil changes and all the reimbursements, every month is different.

I think it is very important to set goals for the important things you do in your life. That can be a full time job, part time job, exercise program, weight loss program, academic achievement, athletic endeavor or whatever. No goals, no success, just aimless efforts.

What goals can be set in mystery shopping? Start with yearly income and decide how much you need/want. Divide by 12 for monthly and by 52 for weekly. How many MSC's do you want to represent? Set a goal of 25, 50, 100, 200 and add x amount on a weekly or monthly basis.

If you are earning $100 month and you want $1000 then you have to change your plan of attack. More shops, different types of shops, more travel, more time.

Just my opinion but without goal you are just spinning your wheels.
Not spinning my wheels, had a very successful business for years, retired and goals are keeping myself healthy and busy which I do...if your post was directed at me. I only speak for myself. Doesn't matter how much I make, what matters is I enjoy what I'm doing and do it to the best of my ability, which I do...at 81, family and health are most important.

Live consciously....
My goals are mostly set as needed. I work a flexible but full time job so I have a bit of cushion. When I (reasonably) need or want something, I can usually go ahead and get it. Then, I set a goal to replenish my account as soon as I can. My daughter's youth orchestra fee was due last month, so $495 was my goal for September.

Goal - make as much as possible but only on shops that equal more than minimum wage (i.e. no $5-7 shops that take an hour total.)

For me, it depends on the month. In January my goal was to get $1000 in just fees, but usually my goal is $500-$800 depending on how the month goes and what I feel I can get to. I like to strive to get to that next hundred dollar mark, which motivates me near the end of the month when I'm tired but there's good shops and bonuses. With my current health/whiplash situation, my goal is to get out of bed each day :/
Sounds terrible to say this out loud, but I don't have any (MS) goals, other than to pick the jobs I want to do, do a good job, and spread the joy. Keep in mind hubby & I are semi-retired and dabble in other areas for money. I commend all the full timer's, dedicated to MS'ing as their main income.
I do mostly phone and web shops with very few visits. As a busy mom, this works out well for me. No goals here. Sometimes, I can make $600-700 just doing a lot of phone shops. Sometimes, half of that but no complaints. I have goals in other areas but not in this field. If you really want to set goals, see at least for a month what you can make without setting any. Maybe, that will give a fair estimate of the work that you are ready to put in, if you want to sign up with more companies or vice versa. Good luck!

I have goals, but I do not have any specific monetary goals. I work at this on a very part-time basis around my family time and full-time employment. My spouse needs to winter in a warm climate due to her health, so one goal for me is to be busy during those winter months when I am alone. Another goal is to begin building relationships with many companies now with an eye toward being busier in my upcoming retirement years. As bgriffin said earlier, some months I'm busy and some months I do very little.
Since I earn my living outside of MSing, my goals are reimbursement based. I have a set amount annually that I try to reach.

Sometimes I make it. Other times I don't, but having the goal pushes me to look for assignments...
I work full time and mainly do this for the experience but that said, I do roughly have a goal of $200/month in fees. I've never been in the position where I've said to myself "If you want to make your goal, you better do x more shops!" Usually I can net that amount just by picking the places where I want to eat dinner or shops I can pick up on my way somewhere. If you're a working mom, you might have trouble doing high paying shops if you have to bring your children. You could do lots of phone shops without ever leaving home and, any money is better than no money. Another realistic thing to know before starting is that you have to money to lay out. I'm usually waiting on $500+ in reimbursements from the month prior. And in fact a company by the name of Red Quanta owes me over $300 that they haven't paid for over 6 months and aren't responding to.

But what is your actual monthly income after expenses?

Depends on how far away my shops are, or how long the routes are. Assuming $0.13 a mile for gas, another $0.10 per mile for routine maintenance, 2,000 miles a month costs me
ROUGHLY $500.

However, my last W-2 job was 50 miles away, 100 miles roundtrip, and I did that every working day, 5 days a week. So I put 2,000 miles on my car every month, and no one paid me a DIME for time or mileage for the commute. AND it was NOT tax deductible!

Plus I had to be on someone else's clock....hate that, just hate it.

As a self-employed person, if I'm too exhausted to work any more today, I take a break. If it throws off my schedule, I reschedule stuff. If I don't feel well, or have some horrid crisis, I reschedule.

Those things don't have dollar signs attached, but are worth a great deal to ME. YMMV!!!!
Been strongly considering attempting this full time..things have definitely been dicey at my regular job lately..I can only shop on weekends for mystery shopping due to my primary job..but I always aim for at least 100 to 200 per weekend..if I lost my main job I would aim for at least 150 to 500 per day six days a week..I don't think 150 per day would be tough to hit but 350 and above per day might be tough...

$350 a day x 6 days a week is almost impossible. You'd need to be established, do routes, travel and be somebody's go-to shopper. That's over $100,000 a year. Out of a million shoppers, there are less than 100 making that.

I went back to a full time job last year. I shop before (gas and breakfast), during (mailing and lunch) and after work (retail, gas and dinner). I also shop weekends.
Get yourself established as a reliable shopper. So when the schedulers are looking for reliable shopper to help them complete shops by their deadline, they can offer you a bonus on the shop fees. I don't set a goal per month, but see what fits into my schedule. I used to do more shops when I worked the night shift since my daily work schedule was set. I averaged about $1,000 month part time then. When I converted to work during the regular hours, I had to do less shops because my work schedule would change weekly.
@SoCalMama..exactly.the reasons.you point out is why I thought 350 would be tough thanks for sharing...

I shop full time I try to do 3 shops a day when I'm lazy and 5-7 a day when I have the energy. It's easier For me if I schedule my shops for the week in one day.
My goal is to save money on things we would normally spend money on, or things I would not do often, like eat out. I work full time and get paid well, but I spend a lot of money helping out my mom, so I normally don't eat out or do anything too extravagant. If there are jobs that pay fees, that's great too, like decent paying car shops and the like.
