I work in NYC preschools and one year, one of the schools kept having outbreaks. It was one family that had a child in preschool and 2 or so older children, that kept spreading to the entire school. When I was leaving for the day, I tried to find the nurse to check my head. She wasn't in, but the parent coordinator who had been checking tons of kids and was supposedly an expert said she'd check my head. She told me I had lice eggs. I freaked. I told everyone who had been to my apartment recently, canceled my afternoon students & a team meeting, bought tons of lice B gone type of stuff at the store, went home covered my head in a shower cap, stripped the sheets, and waited until my appointment with one of the lice ladies of Brooklyn. I did not have lice. That ridiculous parent coordinator... I wonder how many kids she was sending home with lice who didn't have it. I am paranoid now though and always keep my hair back when working with kids, which is 7 days a week at the moment.
I would sign up for this shop. Good to have a reliable lice checker nearby in case of another scare!
I wish there were mystery shops for dentists. Years ago when I didn't have insurance, a dentist told me I had 7 cavities, needed to buy special toothpaste from him, and needed a night guard. I got a second opinion, and no fillings or special paste or night guard needed. That crock of a dentist is in a fancy midtown Manhattan building and was going to schedule me for all 7 fillings in the same morning.
Now my head is itchy...
