Paypal question

Hello, I just received my first payment through Paypal ( as opposed to my checking account ) . I was under the impression that Paypal would deduct a fee so the payment would be less than the actual shopping payment but that didn't seem to happen..was I wrong in thinking this ? Thanks.

There is a box to check when you send money to have the sender or receiver pay the fees. Most MSCs pay the fee.

You only pay a fee if you have a same day transfer on your linked card. If you transfer to your bank, it's free.

There is one MSC who does deduct the PayPal fee from their payment.

I don't remember which MSC it was, because after I read that, I just wouldn't work for them any more.

Stericycle deducts the fee, though you can direct deposit with them.
Second To None deducts the PayPal fee also.

If you have the Paypal debit card you can use direct deposit to that it is through WellsFargo bank.
@breestjon it depends on whether someone sends money as "payment for service/goods" or "send payment to a friend," but that is not the fee being discussed here.

When a business processes payroll through Paypal they are charged a fee for this service. The business either counts this as a cost of business, or has the option of passing the fee on to the recipient. Only a few MSCs do the latter, as most (rightly) consider payroll a cost of doing business.

MSCs who charge me for their payroll feed go on my 10-foot-pole list, as in my mind this nickle & dime BS speaks to their (lack of) character.
I don't shop for a lot of companies, so, I probably haven't worked for any of them that do.
