Five Guys

With all the posts about price increases, I thought I would check out the online ordering since I have shop later this week. Looks like they added a dime to the cheeseburger since last month. Fries and drink are the same. I can still get out 2 cents under the reimbursement with a little bacon cheese, or 8 cents over on the hamburger. Last month the cheeseburger put me 72 cents over. I do like that bacon cheese dog though (with mustard, onions, and grilled jalapeno), and that keeps me way under limit.

The burger prices are okay. So is the price of Little Fries. It is the required drinks that make the total go over the $12 reimbursement. $2.49 for a regular sized drink or ice tea? It is true MSC wants to know if the cashier offered or suggested it. After they did, why can't I just say, "Thanks, Water will be fine?"

Panda has not raise their $9 reimbursement either. The store raised their 2 entrée plates 3 times since I started doing shops for them. Coupons not allowed. Their $4 fee is the same all these years. It barely covers the $1.25 extras for their delicious Shrimp and Steak entrees.

Drinks can be refilled for free after paying initially. The reimbursement should be higher to cover cost increases. The chinese food place fees/reimbursements aren't worth it at their base price but people take them.
The cheapest sandwich in my area- Grilled cheese and Veggie burgers are $5.59, the little fries are $3.99 and the regular foundation drink is $2.74. After tax it comes out to $13.55
I only take these when they call me. I’ve gotten as much as a 20.00 bonus. However, they know what you accepted for your last shop at that location. They use that info to try to keep the bonus down. I do the delivery one a lot to get my lunch covered at work.
Bette- I think they want to know about the quality of the fountain drink so water wouldn’t cover that.
Grilled cheese is $4.39, little fries $3.39, regular soda is $2.49 for a total of $10.9 which is below reimbursement. I never order the grilled cheese and always get a regular burger at $7.19 which brings the total to $13.86. They always make money off me !

PLEASE FIVE GUYS-- INCREASE THE ALLOWANCE. I'm over a dollar over the allowance when I order just the single hamburger, small fries and small drink.
The reimbursement should definitely cover a small burger even though it doesn't. That's the least they can do. At least with the fee you can make a minimum of $5, more if you wait for bonuses. I always order the regular burger and pay out of pocket. To me it's a decent meal, not the healthiest but better than mcdonalds.

While I agree fees should always be rising as well as reimbursements, they usually don't. In Oregon I pay exactly $12.75 for my regular two patty cheeseburger, little fry and a regular soda. This is the fee I get for the meal from the MSC so it works out perfectly. With no sales tax, the reimbursement is set where it should be for our state.
I just did my second Five guys, really do enjoy the little bacon burger, but the drinks cost too much as do the small fries, and although they are generous with the fries, way too expensive at 3.89 when most other places include fries in their combo. I may try the hot dog next time My bill was $14.97 with our high CA tax. I don't tip since there is no service.

You can eat half now and save half or more for later. I think Honnybrown does that with her fries. Drinks are free refills so you can take a tea to go. I don't tip most of the time but did once because everyone was so outstanding, over several visits. If you get the shopped bonused it's a good deal.
I don't like cold burgers and getting a small bacon burger I easily finish, but won't order fries next time. I do get another diet coke to go and they only have the one job i see, they have emailed me and if I ask for bonus someone else will get it...I want to see what other jobs they have, haven't been with them long to be demanding.
p/s/ honneybrown and I eat differently....lol

too bad, I eat about 5 and the rest go to waste. Interesting how much higher everything is here in L.A.
than prices you quoted.....small fries here are 3.89, soda 2.59 and little bacon burger 7.19. Doesn't do
good to quote prices, they seem to change with location, seems our rents are high.....as are taxes.

i agree that the drink requirement should be removed. we're not asked about the drink in the report anyway. like you said, they can offer it to us, and we can get a water.
I tried the veggie sandwich in February, and haven't had a burger since. Those things are awesome! And, depending on the location, they are under reimbursement.

I say so many times that I am going to have a veggie sandwich. I change my mind each time. It's like going to a Vegas cathouse and getting a handshake.

While I agree that the reimbursement needs to be increased, I don't think eliminating the drink is the answer. We are not asked about the quality of the drink but they do ask if a drink was ordered after it was suggested and if the drink was charged properly. I think they want to know if the cashier rang up the drink as part of the shop. Also if the drink was poor, we could comment on its taste in one of the narrative sections.
I toss the cup of fries and a handful from the bag. Otherwise, the entire thing would evaporate. I split the sandwich over a few meals.

My mom, who is 76, 5'3" 115 soaking wet, and eats like a bird, would eat more than 1/3 of a Five Guys burger...….

If something is inedible, they want you to give them an opportunity to fix it and report about it. The only things I had to fix is when the fries were so salty that I couldn't eat them.
In my area, the total for a little hamburger, little fry and small drink always exceeds the limit, though each store charges differently. These shops are within 20 miles of each other. The major part of the drink evaluation is the question if the machine is working properly. Frequently there are choices which are out of order. We are supposed to let them know it needs attention. I no longer accept the phone calls, they know my price and they seem to try to cut it in half per each location.

Yes, Five Guys definitely knew I was the local shopper here. They would yell, "arkndove in the house" only they would use my real name when I walked in. I too would get 5 Star treatment and every associate would greet me and start cleaning LOL! It was a little dance we did and was a win-win for everyone. The company finally said I couldn't do anymore. Ran into the manager in a big box store and it was wink, wink, she wanted to know why I haven't been there in a while. Now I have to drive 30 minutes to do one, so only do them when I bundle other shops and they offer a bonus!

I just tell them the price I will do it for, and that's that. Last time they said they would check, but did not get back to me, which is fine. I will go with my husband, and even with a burger, medium fries, abd two drinks, it's around $20. I won't take these shops unless they give me what I ask for, which isn't extravagant.
I just counted my phone log and I got 20 calls this month from "My Friends" for shops in my area. It's interesting to note that the Coke machine has flavor cartridges that look just like printer ink and looks like they are installed in a similar. Of course they offer me $6.00 for a 100 mile round trip, usually settling for $24.00. Still not worth it
I agree about the grilled onions. No where else do grilled onions get served so soggy and wet. I switched to ordering them raw.
I wrote to the contractor pointing out that the shake reimbursement is about 60-cents less than the price in my area. The contractor said the reimbursement is really a discount on the meal. It was suggested that if the shake isn't fully reimbursed I could cancel the shop. (This is one I was getting a bonus 'cause no one else would do it.) After months of shoppers complaining about reimbursement one would think the word would get to the Guys and it would up the reimbursement.

Shopping SoCal and Maui.
If you order the any grilled vegetables the bottom bun will be SOAKING with grease---- so I hardly ever order it that way. Even just grilled onions by itself really makes the bottom bun SOGGY.
I did a new to me location yesterday. My veggie sandwich was under $12. I was happy about that.

I'm just curious is Five Guys is with the same MSC as they were last year? I'm not asking for the name, but just that they're using the same place as I did shops for them last year. I haven't seen them in awhile in my area and I was wondering if maybe they just aren't shopping my area anymore of if they perhaps moved companies.
