While you have a good point, I think you're also not acknowledging that many shops probably do have frivolous observations. Or, are you saying that NEVER happens and all ms programs are designed perfectly and ALWAYS have awesome value to the clients?
I wasn't talking down to you, I was merely making a point. You seem to have a very difficult time viewing things from any perspective other than yours.
The person who pays the bill is who says an observation is important or not. Not me or you. I personally couldn't possibly care less if an observation has value to a client or not. It has value to me because they are paying me to make the observation.

Haha! Perfect timing. I have to confess. One of my coworkers is on vacation this week and I am doing a report for him. I wrote down all of the elements I had to report on and where to find the info. My notes were 3 pages long! So I wrote on the top of the first page - Get chocolate before attempting this report! He left a big chocolate bar on my desk before he left.

It is true that all questions asked in the report are there because the client wants them and they have their reasons. They may not be obvious to you or to us. I recently did couple of bank shops. The client didn’t care how emoloyees looked or how they greeted me or if they smiled. Shop and report were zoomed around very particular detail and they made it clear in the guidelines. I assume, once all emplyees are trained, the project will end.
If I remember correctly, you were a sideline provocateur in a previous thread of mine (saying you were "getting popcorn" - or something like that - during an emotionally difficult phase for me in a thread with some disagreements that did not involve yourself, no?).

I pretty much just block people who've been disrespectful to me in the past and continue to show "harshness" towards me like:
1.) only commenting when there is something negative to say
2.) always liking others' comments which are rude or negative toward me
People who don't fit that category have nothing to worry about and I think everyone would agree this is reasonable and probably would block others based on those criteria as well. I no longer feel bad about it, as I used to in the past, because as someone told me "you're a good person, that's why you feel bad...these people have no feelings or sympathy and won't return the kindness you show and will just take it as weakness, while continuing to laugh at and mock you...." (paraphrase)
Yup, I'm just standing my ground now. Not going to take any nonsense or rudeness from anyone and don't care if I block you and never talk to you again (*not you, specifically, just saying in general). People are GROWN adults here and know better.
If you're fair and respectful with me - you will get the same back. If not - I'll just block and never talk to you again.

I think bgriffin made a good point (even if his tone isn't nice) that sometimes the purpose of a shop's observations aren't always obvious and there can be good reasons for it that we're just not aware of.
That's a good point. OTOH, it's too broad of a statement, b/c it likely excludes instances where maybe a shop is just SIMPLY BADLY DESIGNED. I'm sure that DOES happen too every now and again.
Also, I was thinking of shops with a few seemingly frivolous questions in a sea of otherwise good ones. Sometimes it's not the whole shop that is problematic, but just a few questions that could be worded better or excluded in favor of other observations that could be more helpful. For sure, I could be missing something, as bgriffin said, that the client wants to know. But, just as easily, it could just be not a great shop and could use improvement in the design department. That's all I was saying. No more, no less

I worked at popular bar/restaurant a few years ago. If they had a mystery shopping program, they would have wanted to know if any employees were using cell phones within view of customers, and how quickly customers were greeted/seated. Those were the points they cared about and not much else. The bartenders could cuss someone out and the management wouldn’t have cared less. That’s just how their business model ran. If the floor was dirty, food was slow to come out, restroom mirrors smudged... they would not have cared. And it was still a busy, money making place.
Things that may ‘seem’ important just aren’t to some businesses.
I think I know a few of those types of places.
Definitely wouldn't bring me back personally (I'm a clean freak).
