Is it because they themselves don't get paid by clients until 30+ days later?

Is it so they and/or the client can use that "float" time to take our money to use as a sort of loan - e.g., buying short term bonds (like a 3-month short term bond) and make money off the float?

I really like The Source paying every two weeks. But many companies pay 2 months later...or more!

You've nailed it! I don't mind a float of 2 months since many companies don't pay until 60 days or even 90 days.

In the business world payment 60-90 days "net," is the established mode of doing business. We are in that world; if you want weekly of monthly pay, become employed.

Oh, I see. Interesting. Lots of things about MS-ing that I never get used to no matter how many shops I've done - thinking of myself as a business owner is one of them.

In the future, I would, however, suggest not adding comments like these. They come off as rude in the social world and are unnecessary. I also doubt that you'd make such "needling" comments to a long-time established member here like MFJohnston, Irene, etc.

"Established" was also the wrong word. "People you like/get along with" might have been better.

I NEVER get personal and go after other posters, ridicule them, mock them, get rude, etc. I just block or ignore.

But, lately, I've been standing up and "fighting back." Don't want forum rudeness by a VERY small minority of posters to ruin this forum for the overwhelming majority who want a pleasant social and helpful professional environment.

I did not read her post as being rude at all - just matter-of-fact. We are in an industry where they pay is 60-90 days -it's part of the cost we pay for the benefit of being self-employed. It's also a reality that most MS companies are fairly small and cannot always afford to pay their shoppers until they are paid by their clients.

As for @walesmaven picking on "special" folks.... She's set me straight a couple of times, when I have said something that is just plain wrong. (I've done that before, and I'm sure I'll to it again.)

Walesmaven has been one of the main "teachers" I've had here at the forum. This seems a good time to say THANK YOU, WALESMAVEN, and thank you to all the others who have been so helpful and generous with their guidance. There are too many of you to list but know that I appreciate you all.

There's a difference between a poster standing up for themself and a poster looking for things to take offense at in order to make dramatic posts scolding others. The dramatic scolding posts seem to result in suspensions.

I am just paying forward all of the help that was generously provided as I started and grew my MS business. rofl and MFJ are among those who carry on that tradition, which is shared here by many others.

I am NOT always correct. But I hope that I take correction with thanks for being set straight. The topic of this thread has been repeated, with the same general explanation of MS payment times, a number of times, many of them in the past 2 years, I think. If the early, true, answers do not satisfy, the same answers, repeated, will not satisfy. That does not make the answer mean.

They pay that way because they can. If it doesn't make any difference to you, go for it. I'd much rather get my money more quickly (thank you RQA), and on a timely schedule (thank you Ipsos).

I read that and took it as factual information. You took it as an attack. I have seen you get upset like this over and over. There is no reason to get stressed abd upset. Maybe stop before it turns into ten pages of back and forth. I am concerned you are going to get really really upset again about nothing. Nobody is attacking you. This is someone who falsely accused me of being a book writer. When there was a thread devoted to making fun of me, she entered and continued to say I was a troll/bookwriter.

She did NOT tell those making fun of me to back off or say they were WRONG.

I defended myself - admittedly, in a long-winded way - and was suspended partially for that reason. People said I was causing trouble when I had literally NEVER attacked anyone. Then they try to report and get others to report that person and SHUT THEM DOWN. Never pausing and trying to understand that person's feelings and side of things like a NORMAL HUMAN BEING would do. If someone is upset, I stop and try to understand them.

If that person complains, they get their peers to report or attack/mock that person (like creating entire threads to make fun of me).

If I offended someone and it was my fault, I'd try to be extra careful/nice/sensitive to them going forward to let them know I care about them, am sorry, and am speaking respectively, etc. I wouldn't want to go around speaking to people, who I know may be sensitive to my words in a rude way.

He's super self-righteous and cannot countenance the thought of being wrong. He KNOWS he and others were in a thread mocking me. He saw what others did. He never tried to intervene or stop others. He called me out, but not others. Why is that? Why focus on me?

I refuse to accept PMs from this forum member and requested that she say anything she had to say to me in the open forum. This apparently upset her very much and she went on an attacking tirade. It's unfortunate that she cannot see that her own behavior was the reason for her suspension.

Given the attacks in the above post made on multiple posters, I'm sensing another suspension coming on. I've reported the post to moderators.

If I'm upset, it's because I don't like rudeness or being spoken to in some sort of UNHUMAN way. ...Zero niceness/sympathy. It's unhuman - it really is. And it has a horrible emotional effect on others' well-being. It's like a form of abuse even. How you use words matter. And too often on this forum, people are straight up jerks, controlling, manipulative, etc.

People gotta have more sympathy/empathy...stop and listen...try to understand others....speak in a way that is peaceful (not like me right now...I know I'm too emotional....just venting...nothing personal).

It's come from pent up anger from injustice. I can take being wrong and changing. But when people don't call out blatant and frequent rude/bad behavior, then it's unfair. It feels one-sided and that breeds resentment, anger, etc. It builds. I was treated poorly for a year or more and people weren't really fair. If I was overly wordy, etc. or got super emotional and out of line a time or two, that's fine. I can admit that and would WANT to deal with it.

But just BE FAIR. Call out my attackers too! It's the unfairness (and rudeness) that get to me.

Actually you can't read your posting history fairly because the mods have deleted a lot of it.

I believe there may be a grave misunderstanding here. It's a typical joke when someone asks a lot of questions in any given forum (not just here) for people to post: "Why, are you writing a book?"

This does not actually mean anyone thinks you are writing a book.

Trolling just means when you write posts that appear to be antagonizing or attempting to stir up trouble.
