Has anyone done insurance comparisons phone shops?

These look very labor intensive (brain work) and time consuming....instructions 21 pages. But, nice pay. Opinions please...

If it is for Maritz, I have. It wasn't so bad. Curious to know what company has this kind of shop.
My experience has been that last year I noticed some hits to my credit report from doing these shops but the real clinker was that the lizard people insurance company CANCELLED my car insurance and it was some doing to get the damage undone. My husband works at our Dept of Motor Vehicles and said that that's their tactic---if they get enough of your info to cancel your insurance they do that hoping to force you, out of desperation, to take their insurance. He's seen it over the last 14 years now so I'd be real careful if you have to make contact with them for any reason.

There are several MSC's who do these -- I've been asked by 3 companies, and thanks to people like Cettie who post the hazards, I declined.

I did do several life insurance shops, and wanted to kill the pesky agents who would call my office phone 10 times a day, and each time scream into the phone my entire personal information.

Yup, 10 times a day, for weeks, the worse one screamed ...

Is So and So there??? Pause, "She's, age X, at (home address), non-smoker, who wanted 100K insurance. Tell her to call --- blah, blah, blah"

Thankfully my husband has a great sense of humor....'cause it was a horrible month. -- All for $10 or something equally stupid.

On the car insurance -- two out of three MSC's clearly stated they pull your credit --( the 3rd called me on the phone.)

Don't mess with your insurance, and don't mess your credit -- Thanks my advise in shopping and in life.
Glad I READ THIS. I WAS THINKING ABOUT DOING SOME from another MSC, really don't need to mess with my credit or Ins. I know they want alot of info., and 10.00 per call isn't much to deal with pesty calls and problems. I'm decling. I can see what Cettie said happening.

Live consciously....
Thanks to everyone for their insight and advice....it really helps to share our experiences and help each other....whenever I see a *huge* payment and numerous pages of instructions I usually don't accept the shop. "Too good to be true" comes to mind.

I do not like any one pulling a credit report unless it is for a legitimate reason. As for telephone numbers, I only give out a voice mail. I would never give out an office number.

Thanks for giving out this information. I was also thinking of doing one of those shops.
Even though the shop paid a lot for phone calls, when I canceled they offered a bonus to reconsider. Hopefully they got the job done; not by me.
hmm dont know the company you guys are talking about but the one i did was for 6 shops... pretty easy (20 questions or so and 12.50 a pop so 75 all told) and i was shopping for car insurance anyway so i found out that i have pretty good insurance.. i hope... havent had to use it thankfully

and i also found out the guy who sold me the car lied and said i hadnt an accident in 5 years... shameful... just to get me cheap insurance so i would buy the car... needless to say it worked...
