What does building a relationship with a scheduler entail?

I know it's often recommended for shoppers who want to do this on a more serious level. But, I'm wondering what the process entails?

I don't know if I'll ever be a "super shopper," but I'm nonetheless curious about it, because I hear it so often and realize that I don't have much of a clue what it typically means.

In my mind, I conceived of it involving things like:

-Introducing yourself on a more personal level
-Explaining your goals and interests in shopping and asking the scheduler if there might be opportunities to fill
-Offering your services on hard to fill shops

I also honestly thought it might involve some schmoozing and/or sucking up possibly too. smiling smiley winking smiley

I always am reluctant to be a suck-up and am very independent as a person and stand by principles regardless of how it impacts me. But putting that potential conflict aside (if it ever even crops up), I do wonder what extra things shoppers do to "build that relationship" and get to that next level of shopping?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts and sharing!

I had never heard of a "super shopper" until I read it in one of your posts.

Why would ever I suck up, do the job well, do them favors now and then, write nice emails and build your relationship like you would treat anyone, people respect good manners....trying to find a problem, not able to!!!

You might be over thinking things. Just be nice. I can't give you an exact formula, but saying, please, thank you, and being pro-active are a good place to start.

It's my version of Monk's "road warrior" or "mega shopper" I think. Someone who routes those mega bonused shops and does tons of shops. smiling smiley

I feel like I already do those things. Just thought maybe people were doing something extra I wasn't aware of.

Good luck everyone. I'll say this final note:

I HAVE NEVER SAID ANYTHING PERSONAL TO ANOTHER POSTER. NEVER ONCE TRIED TO INTENTIONALLY EMOTIONALLY HURT SOMEONE ELSE, MAKE THEM FEEL BAD IN ANY WAY. I JUST DON'T DO IT. IF I HAVE SOMETHING I WANT TO SAY THAT IS A CRITIQUE, I PM THE PERSON. I DON'T DO IT PUBLICLY. I DON'T SPEAK TO OTHERS IN SOME CONDESCENDING, PROVOKING TONE. MAKE SNIDE REMARKS, ETC. I WOULD FEEL BAD. AND I DON'T LIKE TO MAKE OTHERS FEEL BAD.

I also don't assume things or get into other people's personal business. If I wish to shop, I do. If I dont' wish to shop, I don't. Me having social conversation here has nothing to do with that.

I was happy to also not post any additiional threads. Sometimes I'm lonely and enjoy the conversation. I also thought it'd be helpful to have a thread of its own, b/c that easily helps sort/categorize topic of interest for people visually. I could have just asked the question in an existing thread, but it would be of a diff. topic and didn't want to derail it.

I'm not stupid. I can read people's intentions and tone. I also don't think people would say the stuff they say to me to other posters. I'm not going to respond back in kind, so I'll jsut leave. I'd alread blocked most of you in the past, but thought I'd take a chance and read some comments, b/c you took the time to quote me so many times...I figured mabye things had changed. I regret doing that.

Ths is a message to multiple people on this forum. Not one person. You already know in your hearts what I'm referring to. You know your intentions when you say things to me. I don't wish anyone anything bad. I just don't enjoy the chatting anymore. If I ever once said anything offensive to anyone, I'd hope you can forgive me. I don't know what others are thinking oftentimes. I don't have anything against anyone here and never will.

edit: that should have read "I'm NOT going..." and I fixed it above, but in case someone didn't see that, I did here sa well.

Wow! Just wow. Do you think that it is okay to say in a PM something that you would not say on a thread in response to a forum member's post? Sounds like, "Well I won't hurt your feelings in public; that's what PMs are for." I have just been pushed over the edge between being mildly irritated by you trying to be "super thread starter" to being dumbstruck by your attitude. I often try to be a peacemaker, but this time I am just going away, shaking my head.

Call you a curse word, WTF? Why read more into it than I wrote? This forum is chock FULL of people who are "road warrors" or "super shoppers" who have posted over and over again on how they go about forming routes and getting shops. Yeah, sometimes I find your threads and posts tiresome, but honestly, I really meant what I wrote: I GUESS YOU MUST ALREADY KNOW WHAT IT MEANS, THEN. That wasn't sarcasm. If you have been a forum member this long and spent this much time in the forum, how could you NOT KNOW. Now just to be clear, I am not being mean. You can stomp your feet and have a meltdown if you want, but that's rather silly. I suggest that instead of creating new threads, you spend some time and all of this energy that you seem to have researching and reading old forum posts on how to build your business and to become a route shopper, if that is REALLY what you want to do. Or not.

And we're off!

Seriously, I'm not trying to be mean when I say this. I get that you're bored and often would like conversation. The problem is you force that conversation with incredibly long winded posts about asinine subjects. It makes it obvious that you are just trying to find SOMETHING to talk about. It's great that you want to interact with people! There's nothing wrong with that at all. But you would win more friends and be more interesting to communicate with if you just simple had conversations instead of posting these long drawn out convoluted posts.

Think of it like this. If you walked into a party and attempted to dominate the conversation as you do here, you wouldn't get invited to many more parties......

@walesmaven, I hope before you go away you report to the moderator. I did. I gave the moderator a heads-up that the posts are escalating and the PMs to other forum members are starting again and it looks like we are starting down the same road that leads to Time Out. Maybe if enough people report, it will catch the moderator's attention and this time the moderator can issue an immediate warning. It might save us all from having to go through another unpleasant tirade of emotional attacking posts and it might either save someone a Time Out or result in someone leaving.
I must be missing something... if y'all don't like the posts, why do you respond consistently?
Sorry, you can't reply to this topic. It has been closed.
