All shops should be self assigned

For shoppers who have reached a certain rating.

Presently sitting across the street from a shop that has sat on the board all month. Click on it and it has to be assigned.

Oh well.

I think he means that he saw the shop, clicked on it hoping to self-assign it, only to discover that it must be assigned by a scheduler and cannot be self-assigned.
I agree. Currently my scheduler won’t assign me any shops cause I missed one out of the 20 I’ve done all correctly very frustrating

Sure but plenty of times when I apply, a scheduler will respond within 30 minutes. Sometimes even sooner. Depends on the company, of course, but always worth a try. I can delete the app if I do not receive a timely response.
What really annoys me is the app that pops up and tells me I'm so many miles from a shop but they aren't self assign so proximity to it at that minute really means nothing.
It makes our lives much easier when they are self-assign also, so you can bet there is a reason when they are not set up that way.
Over the my 16+ years as a shopper, I have discussed flaking with, as I recall, four schedulers. The numbers quoted to me were as high as 50%; that is an alarming figure. Perhaps that is why more shops are not immediately assigned.
So, as Dad suggested, self-assigned could be available to those of us with proven track records. It could benefit the MSC, knowing that the shop will get done properly.

It isn't necessarily the worry of low rated shoppers getting the shop that makes them unavailable for self-assign. There can be several reasons.

One example... If the client wants a brand new shopper for a specific location, we cannot turn off self-assign for just those shoppers who have shopped before at that location. The whole session is either self-assign, or it is not.

As I stated above, self-assign makes our lives easier too. If it is not self-assign, there is a reason, and it is not necessarily shopper rating.
So often, the schedulers have to check the demographics of the shop before it can be assigned. The time required would be cost prohibitive to write a program each time a client has certain demographics in mind. And once the program was written, it would have to be updated with every whim of change that the client requires. I've seen shops where the shopper has to be male, Asian, over 45, previous history of quality shops with that company, has a certain credit card, etc. It's a lot for a scheduler to check on, but to try and make a shop like that self-assign?

30 minutes on a route is a lifetime.
