Disgusting Five Guys Milkshake Preparation - This Was Different from All Other Stores

There is a store in my area (one of 9 within a 30 mile radius) that makes milkshakes without ice and in which the vanilla is "yellow"-ish.

It's VERY runny and tastes gross. I asked the about it and the worker said they've been making them this way for a while. I told them NO OTHER Five Guys makes their shakes like this, as they are thick and have ice. He said this is they way their store makes them.

Are FGs not supposed to make their food the same for all stores? This person said there was a "powder shake mix" of some sort I think.

I'm in an area with many FGs and I've shopped almost all of them (I think 7 of the 9). I don't think I've ever had a runny (like pure liquid practically and no thickness), yellow vanilla shake before. Is this normal in your area?

Mine have always been consistently disgusting! I buy vanilla ice cream and make them at home.
have found them to be TOO SWEET and often I like them thicker than what I get.
My one milkshake there was excellent, very thick, could eat it with a spoon.....store gets an A rating from health dept., as all our restaurants are rated, never saw one without an A........would pay for their shake on my own.

Live consciously....
I thought milk shakes are supposed to be made with ice cream and milk...well, except McDonalds... My 5 guys shops recently have been without the milkshake option, so I have not had one in over a year. But for $5.50 each, I would think they are supposed to have ice cream. Hopefully they aren't charging $5+ for whatever concoction you got.
None of the Five Guys in my area have runny milkshakes. Everytime I have gotten them, they have been white and thick.

Are you adding whipped cream? I usually skip that. But, I've noticed the wc does sweeten it a ton.

I personally think FG has the best milkshakes. They use natural fruits in them (real chunks) and they are usually thick (ground ice).

Just this one location wasn't and I believe the worker said the used a "powder shake mix." Also, no ground up ice - that part he confirmed to me.

That's why I wondered wasn't there some sort of mainstreaming/standardization of food across franchises? How can one store have such a different process (assuming they do)?

So I looked up 'Nutrition & Allergen Information' for Five Guys and found two listed ingredients for the basic shakes-- Five Guys Shake Base' and 'Whipped Cream'. Potential add-ins are listed separately in a separate category. Hmm.
