If you can pay faster during the Holidays.... ?

So just some food for thought. There are several MSCS who pay quicker and sometimes more often during the Holidays. This has to make you wonder if they can do quicker pay at this time of year why can't they pay us quicker during the entire year. Are they getting paid quicker by their clients aka the places we shop? Or are they simply not holding are money longer in a disguise they are being nice. I me I am okay with net 30 which is typical business. On the plus side IPSOS started paying weekly well before the holiday period started. They are paying 2x a week during the holidays. I have seen a few others this year adjust to a faster payment schedule that was not just for the holidays. So all it all a trend is finally starting to emerge favoring us the shoppers for a change.

I feel that it's more like an incentive. So many shoppers won't shop during this time of year, it's a way to get people to shop (perhaps).

While I truly do wish the MSCs would pay more quickly I don't really think there's a
"trend" to do so.

So far, I'm not getting paid more quickly, as it's taking an average of 10 days after submission for my reports to be edited. I feel a little badly about it, as I was sort of thinking, oh boy, if I get these shops done today, I'll be paid by the end of next week! Nope, hasn't worked like that once. But I am liking getting paid every week.
Of course they can pay faster the rest of the year too, but 49 states in the USA do not have regulations that require them to do so.

Hi, BuffaloNY101. I can't speak for other companies, but for Shoppers' View, we typically pay twice a month. We have an expedited holiday payment schedule in December. There are several reasons we do not do it all year long. For example:

1) We start to prepare for the payment 8 business days before the payment is issued. For our normal schedule, the shops we are paying for have already been submitted by the shopper. For the expedited schedule, we are preparing to pay for shops that are still at new, incomplete, or unassigned status. This makes the preparation take much more time, and it is not as accurate.
2) We are staffed to handle shops at our normal payment speed. We prefer to have shops finalized and in the client's hands before we pay shoppers. However, with the expedited schedule, there are some shops that get paid before they have been finalized. This means that some of these shops may turn out to be unusable, but the shopper will receive pay anyway.

The short answer is that we do not have the resources to do so consistently, and we believe that having consistent, reliable payments is important. We can guarantee the twice monthly payment. In December, many of us work overtime or seven days a week to make the expedited holiday payment schedule work.

Happy holidays!

Yes there is. Your company's twice a month or bi-weekly is reasonable, but many if not most companies make a shopper wait more than a month after the shopper completes the job. Quite a few companies make the shopper wait 2 or 3 months or longer.
My guess is that it's a by product of them wanting to get payments out prior to the end of the year for tax purposes.

I don't have a cynical view of MSC's paying early over the holidays. Perhaps it's just an end of the year thank you. Why look a gift horse in the mouth? I'm OK with MSC's pay schedule so long as they stay within the parameters of agreed upon limits. And I choose not to work with MSC's that take 3 months to pay.
So a few comments on what has been said.
1. it was not meant to be a cynical thread or a thread against msps. It was rather just as stated a food for thought thread to just see what peoples thoughts were.
2. The one state that may require faster pay I would guess is Nevada do to their unique Mystery Shopping Laws. Search the forum if you want more info on that
3. Christine and shoppersview: I appreciate any company that regularly pays 2x a month which is fast in this business. I also although I don't shop much for you would absouletly appreciate accelerated pay during holidays but would not expect it as your regular pay schedule is fine for me but faster is always welcomed.
4. Bgriffin states a great and quite possibly true point. The mscs may want payments on their books by end of year. There is also the Fiscal year which would be different for each MSC.
5. LIJake I am not looking any gift horses in the mouth and am happy with whatever reason we get quicker pay during the holidays from some MSCs. I do very few shops for those that take 3 months to pay but will and do do some provided they pay timely without having to chase according to their stated pay schedule even if it is 3 months. HS Brands would be a good example.

Nevada pays twice a week per law. We are employees there.

I think you meant "twice per month." edited to remove a negative comment.

And I am turning down work from IPSOS and other MSCs paying on an accelerated basis. For the same reason that some firms wish to pay expences in the current year, I prefer to have payments made to me in the next year.

Interesting. That would eliminate my two most used MSC's. As I said, I don't care when they pay so long as it is on time. Early is OK.
It appears that IPSOS is done paying twice a week. While I haven't seen an "official" email about it, their website now says "7-10 days after your survey is submitted and approved" rather than the "5 days" they were touting in November for the holidays. They also did not make a payment at the beginning of this week, and I would assume that the pay statements dated 12/16 will be paid on Friday, per their previous schedule...
I actually received two payments from IPSOS this week, one on 12/18 and another on 12/19.
