How has the CoronaVirus affected you?

I will not take any airport shops right now. What bothers me is that they are screening people for fever, you could have the virus without a fever for one to two weeks, which is contagious at this time. There are not completely sure yet of the incubation period.

Last night's "Market Place" show reported that gasoline prices are dropping as people are not driving as much, already, in reaction to fears of contagion.

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
To me, it’s an overreaction and the risk is considerably low.... Yes, even with the guy that’s reported to possibly have it out in the metro Denver due to his Wuhan travels.

Business as usual for me.

Shopping the Greater Denver Area, Colorado Springs and in-between in Colorado. 33 year old male and willing to travel!
I've been more mindful of best practices picked up living in Asia during an earlier deadly virus outbreak. Wash your hands often, don't touch your face, avoid unnecessary touching of public surfaces, change clothes when you get home from routes.
The only change I've done is I canceled a work trip to mainland China. Company policy to avoid non-essential travel to mainland China. If you practice good hygiene (wash hands, don't touch face/eyes/mouth, wipe down surfaces, etc.), you should be fine.

The head scratcher to me is people aren’t driving less due to the higher risk of dying in a car accident than contagion of coronavirus...

Husband is off work this week. Their Wuhan office employees were just at their main office in Shanghai for a party. I swear if I get this while I’m home bound, I’m going to be pissed.

Adding
The shanghai employees came back to the SoCal office last week. So hopefully they are not infected. We won’t know for another week.

Corona has to be one of the 10 worst beers ever. I would never drink it so not worried about getting anything from it.

At the moment only demons come to mind
I think one would be nuts not to be concerned but foolish to be incapacitated. I am watching a website [systems.jhu.edu] that has a map at the bottom of the page. Click on the map and it will show the current statistics worldwide. We are at 6000 cases at the moment, which is a drop in the bucket as influenza goes. What I am watching more closely is the deaths vs recoveries. At this time there are 132 deaths vs 110 recovered. Since it is likely to be a year before a vaccine is generally available, it is treatment of those infected that becomes critical and at the moment it is not even a 50/50 chance of recovery.

I lost $1200 on the market Monday but regained it yesterday.

And likely are regaining the rest of it today.
So far they have one person in my state reportedly infected with the virus and they have stopped flights from that area. But then there is that huge plane full of people from Wuhan that just landed in So Cal who were screened and passed but who knows what might occur in the coming days. I will probably still accept my airport jobs when and if they get assigned. By the time I go the airport situation will hopefully be better with flights cancelled and a lockdown in Wuhan..

Oh hell no! I would not be anywhere near LAX or SFO.

A sick person just landed at Logan from China sick and put in the hospital, what about all of the people on the plane and people who work there.
This is "really good" timing (not really...I'm being funny). I'll be flying to Japan this summer for the 2020 Summer Olympics...one of my dream travel goals of a lifetime! So I'm really concerned about how things will be by I'll be getting on the plane on July 28th at LAX.

That's where mind went...but I bought airline stocks on Monday instead. So far the virus has been financially beneficial for me.

I'm also avoiding Corona (beer & city)
You have to get it in Mexico, otherwise it tastes like swill. And while you're at it, get some fresh chicharrones!

As far as I know, this has not affected me at all. I am hydrating, getting a little more rest, and hoping for the best for all persons.

I have probably caught something else. No one that I know has been to China unless it was someone that was there about a week or two ago. No fever but I had to cancel all of my shops for last week because of the runs. Sucks when you have cancer and a failing heart.
The survival data cited above is misleading, due to the fact that the number of diagnosed cases is growing exponentially. Take this into consideration: Let's say that in survivors, the decease take 10 days to run its course so that doctors believe that the patient is out of danger. If there are 10 cases in week one, 30 cases in week two and 90 cases in week three, what is the "known" survival rate? Well, let's say that 2 of the cases from week 1 died and 8 survived. There has, to date, been an 80 percent survival rate. We have not clear picture of the survival rates for weeks 2 and 3 yet. What is certain is that the survival rate is NOT 8 divided by 130 ( the total number of cases to date). Moreover, because many early cases probably were never diagnosed, even the week one data may over estimate the legality, because, while we might be able to go back and yrace death cases where we now think the disease was involved, it may not be a simple matter to determine to true total number of cases in week one without screening a huge number of people who were ill with something, survived, but what the something really was remains a mystery.

The GOOD news is that epidemiologists swing into panic mode based on the exponential spread of the disease instead of waiting around for a few months of documented survival rates based on appropriate time of infection data.

I take elderberry syrup, avoid restaurants and take out food, large gatherings of people, and a good nights sleep. Also, keep indoor air circulated and use a humidifier-diffuser. Add a few drops of essential oils to water: eucalyptus oil bergamot oil which have anti viral properties.
I think I would have waited on the airlines, I have a feeling that they haven't bottomed out over this yet. Hopefully you just bought small increments on the way down and are waiting to see if there is a major pullback?

Coronavirus declared global health emergency by WHO

"The main reason for this declaration is not what is happening in China but what is happening in other countries," said WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.

The concern is that it could spread to countries with weaker health systems.

At least 213 people have died in China, with almost 10,000 cases of the virus.

The WHO said there had been 98 cases in 18 other countries, but no deaths.

Most international cases are in people who had been to the Chinese city of Wuhan, where the outbreak began.
Dunno if a sick stomach feeling is part of the symptoms, but I've had a very upset stomach that past couple of days. sad smiley

From what I have read, the symptoms are mostly respiratory with fever.
