How has the CoronaVirus affected you?

I did not really measure exactly but put about an inch of bleach in the bottom of a spray container and then filled it with water. So I think it is about 1 part bleach to 8 or so parts water. I have ceramic tiles with grout between each tile and also the line where the sink meets the tile looked awful after all these years. I would not use bleach like this on fabric or anything porous such as wood. I am thinking of doing my tiled showers as well but have a tinted grout there so I will wait til I can go to the store and stay there as long as I want without virus worry and find some bleach okay for colors. If you have a different counter top you can try a little bleach water in an inconspicuous space and see how it works. Someone on here recommended 1 part bleach to 20 parts water (5%) for killing viruses but I decided some more bleach would not ruin my tiled surfaces.

Sandyf what is your formula? I'm afraid to use to much bleach and make a mess on rugs etc.

You can use dilute bleach on sealed granite. Here is a link to help you: [www.clorox.com]

Do NOT use even dilute bleach on marble.

I have granite countertops, I don't think I can use bleach. But, I have a special cleaner/sealer I use that's made for granite. And my sink interior is made of some sort of black vinyl-type composite so it doesn't have stains. I do use vinegar in my sink to cut down on soap scum from time to time. I also use vinegar with baking soda in my disposer to clean it.

Most sources say not to use even dilute bleach as it strips the sealer. Don't really have any reason to do it anyway, my granite is not stained. But thank you for the link, i appreciate you taking the time.
The Clorox website has a lot of tips. I was surprised at everything it can be used for. Also check websites for ammonia. Never mix the two.

Hydrogen peroxide is also a good disinfectant and somewhat less likely to be out of stock.

My house is much cleaner (I've cleaned places that I haven't had time to get to in years), my house is much more crowded (everyone is either working or going to school from home), we eat better (we actually cook), and I finally am forced to do things like clean out closets. However, I never realized how much I miss human contact other than my family. I also don't know what the dog will do when he doesn't have humans at his beck and call any longer.
My squirrels might feel the same way. I'll be in the kitchen making coffee...you know that feeling that someone is watching you? Yep. I look out one of the sliding doors to seee a lurker perched on the deck rail in the begging position. Irresistible
My dogs love it my cats seem to be mostly indifferent, but then that is the way it usually is. Dogs always want to play and cats do not care if you are home unless the food bowl is empty. or even if it is three kibbles shy of being full.
Dogs are definitely getting spoiled...love my baby

My daughter has another virus related dilemma aside from her one professor for physics having no idea how to use the online resources. He is having them just read the book,. no lectures at all.
But she is applying for grad school for the fall. She heard from all the schools two weeks ago or more but has not heard from either of the instate schools she applied to where she would not have to somehow come up with $200,000 in loans to go there. The decision date for sending in a deposit is fast approaching and there is no way to contact the two instate schools she applied for. They have not sent any email updates and no one answers phones or emails. At this point she is just going to have to send in a $500 deposit to a school she cannot afford and hope that the state gets their act together. Otherwise she will have to wait another year and spend thousands of dollars again filling out and sending in applications. I am fairly certain she will be accepted by at least one of the instate schools whose rankings are far below the private schools she was accepted by but we cannot bank on that. She is already 10+ years older than most grad students and does not want to put this off for another year.
My cats seem to enjoy having me around all day. I will lie on the sofa for a nap and wake up to one cat sprawled on my back and the other on my legs. Trapped! By two kitty cats!
Something I've learned about fruits: apples really last!

Bought a bunch a few weeks ago. They have held up quite well (fridge). Finished them recently. Yes, they do get more soggy, but still edible and no signs of rot/mold/etc. in other fruits.

Bananas, of course, are the worst in this regard. When "green," they can turn black and brown within a week or so. Always knew that, but didn't know apples can last quite a bit longer.

Oranges last quite a while also... good choice for right now.

I freeze bananas that we’re not going to get to. Peel, slice, place in a single layer on a sheet pan, and freeze. Then put them in a freezer bag. They’re delicious and can be used in lots of ways.
I make nice cream out of frozen bananas. 2 frozen bananas, 1-2 tablespoons of cocoa powder and a little vanilla. Put in the food processor and it will be soft and creamy. I refreeze for a while.
New York cases top 100,000. That, to me, means the real number is likely at least 300,000. sad smiley
You're right, shoptastic. I daresay that the state and local governments will try to provide an accurate count, but I have precious little faith in much of what comes from Washington.
Pears are also pretty hardy.

I'm getting a hole in the toe of my right walking shoe. My feet are really hard to fit, so I really don't have luck ordering online. I put a piece of tape over the hole inside the shoe, and will repeat as necessary until I can physically get into a store.

Thank you all for the bleach tips.
KathyG if you have Amazon you can order shoes and return without paying any shipping.
I just found out one of my nephews was diagnosed with COVID-19. He is fairly young and in good health (military) so I am not worried about him too much, and I know that the AF has him quarantined so he can't spread it.
I have participated in clinical research trials and just got a call today about a covid vaccination trial beginning sometime between May & August. Hope it pays well!

My state has a relatively small number of cases and no deaths from COVID-19. Even among vulnerable populations, people are surviving. I think it has something to do with being able to survive here, generally. But I also consider that there is little crowding here, and the air is less smoggy than in many other places. Over time, more might be learned.

I could, and will if I get desperate, but sometimes even when it’s a brand I’ve worn before I sometimes have to try on a dozen pairs to find one that fits/looks good on my feet. That’s a LOT of returns,

JAS, I'm so sorry! I'm glad he is taken care of via the Air Force.

Just order a pair of Allbirds. I've thrown away the rest of my shoes except for running and the gym.

I wish it was that simple. I walk out of the vast majority of shoes, because my heel is too narrow for medium width (and my instep is too wide for narrow width).
