Shopperfest Cancelled- No refund

If this applies to anyone here:

"What will happen with my already paid registration? Your registration will be transferred to a future ShopperFest or online certifications. You will be contacted by a staff member to determine which route would be best for you. You could also use part of this money to renew your membership."

I think it's unfortunate that conpanies are not refunding people for cancelled events. I have prepaid hundreds of dollars for festival tickets this summer and hope to get some form of a refund, but I'm not expecting it.

If they refunded everybody, they'd probably be on the verge of bankruptcy.

Very infrequently shopping the Greater Denver Area, Colorado Springs and in-between in Colorado these days.

I was refunded by the imsc when they had to cancel and I don't think they went bankrupt.

I checked and their website shows refunds.
Cancellation Policy
Cancellations submitted in writing to MSPA Americas headquarters by Monday, June 1, 2020, will be refunded, less a $25 processing fee. There will be no refunds for cancellations received after this date. All refunds will be processed after the conference.[mspa-americas.org]

There's the loophole..."All refunds will be processed AFTER the conference." Since there will not be a conference, there probably will be no refund.

Pretty slimey, if you ask me. Especially if you're not able to attend the future conference, you'll be subjected to a currency where you can only purchase THEIR other products and services like membership renewals.

Perhaps a few words were missing there and refunds will be processed after the established date of the conference which has been cancelled. ?

Sounds like the Fyre Festival. People got burned. Gyms are placing memberships on hold and not charging till this blows over. If an event is cancelled, people should get refunds. I hear a class action lawsuit coming.

Those who paid by credit card are protected. Just file a claim that the merchant failed to deliver and refuses a full refund.

In my state they have to give your money back for a cancelled event. I understand there are about 14 states that have laws like this. If your state has a law like this your attorney general or Department of consumer affairs will likely intervene on your behalf.

I have lost money for music festivals where we paid in advance. The promoters have said that the tickets said, "no refunds," so they are not giving refunds

But is that because you couldn’t go vs them canceling the festival?

Pretty awful and sad that they don’t issue refunds for canceling the event. If issuing refunds cause them to go bankrupt, then so be it.

Cancelled, with no refund. They used the excuse that the tickets were sold with "no refunds."

Those guys aren’t working for free, so the amount of time on resources spent is them taking a loss. How much time do you think was wasted on getting all this setup only to be cancelled.

Woah....you're implying that the MSPA is potentially on the verge of bankruptcy because of the wasted resources in setting up Shopperfest?

The schedulers and heads of MSC's literally just show up and talk BS while promoting their companies for a few hours. The majority of the expense is the meeting space and catering costs, and this is an organization that has been founded to promote mystery shopping, and paid for by the members. I think it may even be a non-profit. They are a small group of people (that do this for other companies as well) who are literately funded to specifically set things like this up. They get paid weather or not Shopperfest takes place.

The fact that they charge membership fees to shoppers is in itself nearly criminal...
