Importing spreadsheet data into Google Maps

Can someone tell me how I can import address data from an XLSX spreadsheet into google maps. I have a list of 40+ assignments that I want to organize into routes in Google Maps but I'm not sure if that is possible. Obviously one of the column headings is "address" and this is what I want to sort on. Any help is appreciated.

Thank You,
Russell

I don't know of any way to do that in Google maps, but Batch Geo is very helpful for mapping locations. However, it won't optimize the order, it will just show them all on a map.

Okay, that might work as long as I can move them around on the maps to optimize the order.
I used WAZE when I delivered pizza. It let me input all the addresses, then mapped the most efficient/faster way to get there. I don't know anything about transferring spreadsheets.

Actually, I don't even know spreadsheets.

Try converting your Excel spreadsheet into Google Sheets. From there, see if the two programs can talk.

Open up a new workbook with only one page. Use The Columns of name address city state and enter your data and save. Open Google Maps. Use the drop-down menu select your places. At the top there is another menu and select Maps. Go to the bottom of the page and select create map. Select Import, then select a file from your device. Type the name of your file. A menu comes up to select columns to position your place marks select Street, city, state. Then you can choose a column to title your place markers and use name. Select finish and it makes the map. Then click on individual place markers and you'll get various options to either number or color the place markers.

Holy Cow!

(Although I fear in this day and age, even that somewhat mild exclamation will offend someone! )
Yes, you did offend me with that mild exclamation. Everyone knows that phrase should be a forceful exclamation with at least three exclamation points. But under no circumstances should you use more than five exclamation points with that phrase as that turns it into an extreme exclamation, and that's even worse in the offense department.
I thought Google Maps was only good for ten locations I did not think 40 would work. Thought you would need mapquest for that many.

Would it not be better to say Holy Bovine?

My 3 year old great neice's favorite exclamation is Holy Moley Cow!

I rather like that version, but she maintains that it has to be screamed if said at all.

Thanks for the help everyone. I did a little bit of everything. I saved the xls files in Google Drive, then imported the data into google maps; this created a "layer" in my.maps. It imported most of the data (for some reason 4 rows of data would not import so I manually added them). So it did plot all 43 locations on the map, but as 2stepps said, Google maps is only good for 10 locations, but that is just for driving directions. So from the google.my.map I created, I added a new layer and created driving directions for 10 locations (as simple as clicking on the first location, add new location, then clicking on the second location, and so on), then did this again for 4 more layers with driving directions. I did this on my computer, and when I pulled up Google maps / saved on my android phone, it showed all 43 locations, and 4 driving routes. From there I tapped the 1st location on my first driving route and followed to each other location; then moved on to the next route. It would be easier if Google used it's infinite wisdom to map out the most direct routes for me, but once I figured out how/what I was doing, it was pretty straight forward.
