I want this editors job

I am not going to name either the MSC or the client in this story. I did a shop today with a medium length report including a narrative. I submitted it and within 90 seconds I had it approved with a score of 10. Now, of course I'm not complaining, but here's the rub... Between the actual shop and the report, I would estimate I spent just under an hour, for $45. How much do you think the editor made for her 90 seconds?

$3-$5 at most.
And then there are some reports that might take her a long time because they're so badly written. Trying to figure out what the shopper's trying to say, contacting the shopper, waiting for a reply, etc. We've seen some examples here on the forum that editors have supplied. What a mess some shoppers submit!
It's about 3 to 5 dollars a report. If you are conscientious and write well, it makes the editor's job much easier and a report can be completed quickly.

I wouldn't be upset if you got a 10 that means you were doing what you were supposed to do. Also editors that see consistently good work are going to work back with schedulers and encourage you to take more jobs because it makes everybody's job easier :-)

Depending on the MSC and the report you might be taking a little too much time writing it up. But without knowing what type of project it was I can't say if 45 minutes is too long or not.

Reports that are well written and don't need a lot of correction are rare in our world. I've had it take over an hour to fix a report before for three to five bucks!

Yup. In the last month or so, when I was overworked, under-rested, and producing some uneven results, I earned my usual tens and a few requests for additional information. Did I really say that!? I did. *blush* Based upon this, I strongly suggest that editors deserve more pay per report and/or hazard pay.....

You can't have "this editors job" because you wrote "editors" instead of "editor's" :-) :-) :-)

Good point! Such errors are part of what makes editors' jobs so tough.

The client could have been looking for the report, so an editor or account manager just scanned it then published it. It's possible that no one got paid for it except you and the scheduler.
