OK I am doing the seashell gas shops on Sassie and takes 1/2 hour or more to do the report

@AZwolfman
I have not had this problem for years I am on site 20 or more minutes. It is taking with editing of the pictures another half hour to 45 minutes to file so I have about an hour to to1 1/2 in to each shop.

Curious...if you take only half an hour to submit a Shell shop, does the MSC send you an email asking you how you were able to complete all the observations in such a short time?

LOL I am not getting a the amounts when it was marriage I am having a hard time getting shops at 6 to $10 cheaper then what I was doing in 2019 2020 after they closed down MaritzCX side

One thing that I will give the company credit for, grudgingly, is the fact that they tend to be more generous with the pay in this project. It's much easier for me to get bonuses in this project than it is for a couple of the easier gas station brands that are in shopmetrics. It's still not as much as I would like usually, but I would say my biggest gas station bonuses have always been in this project.

I am able to do these in about 45 minutes on-site. I use a iPhone 12 with my photos set up in albums.

1. Take 60-80 photos, including 2-3 extra of “required” shots, in case editors need more. (15 minutes) If vehicles are parked at pumps, give them
15” to move, then take a side shot and explain in report.
2. Select the 60-80 photos and put in album named with ID, location, date/time (1 minute)
3. Do the report on-site. (30 minutes)
4. Off to the next site.

I’m exploring my iPhone 12’s new capabilities to take screenshots from videos on-site. I may be able to cut 10 minutes off Step 1 if I can film the whole site and extract clear screenshots from the 8K video it shoots.
The editors on this project are about to make me yank out my hair. I'm getting scores from 6 to 10 with no feedback at all. And on my end of things, I cannot see what I did any differently on any of them. I had two shops returned claiming duplicate photos, and in both cases the pictures were very different and very unique. And then, after I explained it and resubmitted them, I was given a seven on both of them with no explanation as to why. Then, I did a location that did not have numbers on the pumps. The report was sent back and I was asked to submit pictures of the pumps with numbers on them. How can I send a report with pictures of the pumps with numbers on them when there are no numbers on the pumps. I explained this and sent it back, and I was given a four with no explanation. This is ridiculous. Normally if we're in the 8 to 10 range, I don't really care. I'm going to get paid and I will always be able to self assign. But, when I start getting fours and sixes for no good reason, that pisses me off.
I also had one put on hold because the pumps did not have numbers. They want a photo of the canopy flag with the numbers, but it doesn't say anything in the instructions about taking photos of the canopy flags if the pumps are not numbered.

I'm a bit annoyed that they don't reimburse for Premium gas any more. I used to be able to enter the amount I spent on gas and get the two gallons fully reimbursed, but the last one I did (I don't do a lot of them) I noticed it would not allow me to enter the price for more than 2 gallons of regular gas. My vehicle requires premium..it's only a few bucks, but phoofey to them.

That's interesting! In the past, when I have purchased gas other than Regular, I would just calculate the price of 2 gallons of regular and use that cost as the amount I would buy for Premium or Mid Range gas.
As an example, if I could only get reimbursed for 2 gallons of Regular and the cost of Regular was $2 per gallon, I would fill up to $4 with whatever gas I bought.
Is that what you did?

In the past I would get whatever amount of premium fuel I asked for (NJ...we don't pump). I would then calculate the price for premium fuel x 2 gallons and list that as my reimbursement. This time, the form automatically added the total for 2 gallons of regular. The form asks the price of a gallon of REGULAR gas, so that is what I put in that slot. There was no place to adjust the cost for premium like there used to be.

I stopped doing these shops because they increased the pay by a whole 50 cents and wanted a pic of each pump side. It takes forever when you have someone who takes a long time in the store and holds up the pump, I took a pic of the pump with the number visible so I didn't have to crop. I never renamed the pics which saved a bunch of time and no one minded. These shouldn't take more to put in than 20 minutes if you're prepared.

I used to do the shops but stopped because they take so long when people linger in the store. I have turned in pictures that were fine last month and the different editors rejected it the net month. I got sick of that. I had one store that had no food selection at all and the editor argued with me about it. I knew what I did not see and that was a food selection. GRRR
I did one once where the manager wouldn't let me take a photo of the front counter. The editor said I needed to go back and get the photo. I told her they wouldn't let me take the photo. She checked with her supervisor and they put it through.

I stopped doing them. Too many photos and nit pickey editors.
The editing has gotten a little better, mainly because an editor that I recognize from the past it was very professional and communicative edited several of my most recent evaluations. However, these are still a pain in the behind. Also, I'm at about a 6-day lag between completing the evaluations and getting them edited. As private contractors, we are expected to submit our final report within 12 hours and respond to editors questions within 12 hours. However, they can take six or seven days to edit it. It doesn't make any sense to me.
The editing has been so all over the place. Fours and sixes with no feedback..... Getting a 10 on a shop that I did exactly the same way as the one that got a six...... Shops returned for duplicate photos when the photos are nothing alike and clearly not the same ones.....waiting 6 or 7 days for editing.....

The Shell stations have not had a pay raise in a very long time. One company wants me to take covert pictures of their location for a whole $7.00 and bonuses are practically a thing of the past. With the price of gasoline it simply isn't worth the money to mystery shop unless you are going that way anyway. I don't know what the 'suits' make but I do know we shoppers are low on the food chain. I have practically shopped shopping altogether.
Am I right in understanding that the shop requirements vary by MSC or maybe by State? I returned a shop because after I found out how much they wanted me to do for the pay I was floored. On top of it, I know these gas stations in my area are very busy. I've never had this experience in my few years of mystery shopping.
Yes I never wait to do the survey for later. I want to make sure I have all the pictures. I can do about 10-12. I bid on 190 stores this month @ $55 ea.
IMHO, route shoppers rarely (if ever) accept these at base pay. Base pay works well for someone who fills up on the way to work, and finds the base pay adequate. Base is NOT adequate if you're driving 60+ miles between stations, for the sole purpose of shopping.

As for your question, yes, they vary not just from MSC to MSC, but by brand to brand. Every brand has its own standards they want judged.

Did you get them? I was under the impression that this MSC no longer entertains offers. All of mine in the last year have been rejected. And they weren't even that high.
They will still entertain offers. However, you are going to wait until the very last minute to have them accepted. You can still make a lot of money, but you have to be working in the right place at the right time, at the last minute.
I've had offers accepted. In my area, there is no way that they will get them done for anywhere close to base pay, except for maybe the smallest two-pump stations.
Yes they were approved. I am very reliable. I am willing travel across several states I usually do clean up. I will shop all brands.

That, if it was me, is a shop refusal. I would warn them that I am considering it as such if they continue to not allow it I am reporting it as an inspection refusal as they would not let me execute a required component.

They were fine with all the other pictures, just not the counter.
