Panda Express is Coming Back!

CanadaMommy, they meant that they thought the typo was in the original post, i.e. "kike" was meant to be "like". It has nothing to do with you "life is too short" message.

Exactly. I was totally confused by CanadaMommy's post.
You can always block seeing posts by certain people if they offend you. I just can't remember how to do it. However, you will see their posts if they are quoted by someone else in a reply.

I Googled "k*** slavery," just to be sure, and it is not a thing or phrase anyone uses, Obviously a typo.
"Explain that
like is too short
life is too short

what are you talking about
it is NOT a typo
LIFE IS TOO SHORT SHOUTING YELLING SCREAMING"

I thought it was a poem. And a good one, at that.

To me, "kike" is definitely offensive and akin to the N-word for Blacks or the C-word for females. However, the original quote was "Don't work for food 7.50 and $ 5.00 payment! it is kike slavery in the old days." I agree with Ken that it was probably a typo for "like."

Even if there had not been a typo, the comparison to slavery was nonsensical and offensive. I don't think that is something to report to the moderators, though.

Just to qualify my original post saying this was offensive I have never heard anyone say k*** slavery just as I have never heard anyone saying some of the phrases people make up to illustrate something about other ethnic groups or religious groups. Having grown up on the east coast and in a family that came to this country at the very beginning of the 20 th century I did hear stories of the sweatshops in nyc where not only the jewish employees but others were treated like slaves with low and missing wages, long hot hours in dangerous factories and basically an inability to get out of the slave like life it felt like to them. In fact my mother told me that when her mother came here in 1904 or so she and my mom's baby brother had to stay on the ship in port for many days until Sunday as her father's boss would not allow him any time off to go and accept her into the country.. And to top it all off his boss was an uncle of his. During that time they had blue laws in NYC so work places were closed on Sundays so that people could attend church. And even when I was growing up there was still redlining in neighborhoods where my parents could not move in, many jobs where they did not hire jewish people and strict quotas in most but the public colleges on the east coast. So to imagine someone might reference k*** slavery to make a point was not a stretch.
I did a Panda "order online, pick up in store" shop this week - easy peasy! I ordered a bowl, beijing beef on half fried rice, half chow mein. Yum!! Total with tax (but no beverage) came to $7.33 ($6.80 for the bowl, $.53 tax).

When I got to my car I took a photo of the food, then ate a quick bite so I could truthfully respond whether or not it was hot (it was), then took it home and enjoyed a great lunch. (The single entre bowl is more than enough for a filling lunch.)

Works for me - I love Panda Express! It's a nice change from burgers and fries, and I'm quite happy to have them buy my lunch, then pay me $5 to fill out their quick and easy survey with a few VERY short narratives (300 characters max) and ONE photo. Sure didn't feel like slave labor to me - felt like getting paid for eating a lunch that otherwise would have come out of my pocket!
I hear you. I did not think it was a stretch. I just thought the k-word was a typo.

I moved to the U.S. when I was a teenager. The first time someone shouted an ethnic slur at me, I did not even know that word could be used as an insult. Before that, I only knew the literal, dictionary meaning of that word.

During the Trump years, I had to deal with not-so-subtle racism, hate speech, and naked aggression. I came close to being physically attacked more than once.

To this day, there are neighborhoods I now have to avoid, because some people are beating/robbing/killing people who look like me.

If it was a simple typo, the OP could have easily edited the original message to fix the typo. They have not. I am left to believe that they have left the word as they intended it to be.

goodness, having been raised by some very hateful and very racist folks, I fully understand all of the offensive terms for almost every race, or people. The "k" word is not a derogatory word for enslaved people or POC, it's an offensive reference to Jews.

Some folks don't understand that they can edit their posts, here and on other forms of online communication. How many times do you see someone on Facebook that posts something, then corrects themselves in a follow up post rather than just editing their original post?

In all honesty, that is a very easy typo to make, I have done it myself, especially on a touch screen. The difference is, I know to re-read my comments and edit them as needed. Some folks never do.
This is true about knowing about editing posts but I notice the person who wrote the original post has not been back to comment at all on the thread so whether it was intentional or not she or he perhaps does not even know there is a discussion about it. And I notice it has been removed by the moderator.
Has a post ever before strayed so far off topic?
This is STUPID.. No one called anybody a name. Simple typo. Let it go...
Surprised they haven't locked the thread.
