Gas station audit Koala count

I do shops that include counting Koalas. I count one for each side of the pump. The scheduler said it was one Koala per column. There are two on the column, one for each side of the pump. How do you count them?

They are sort of in a group of 3 on the column, one large red piece on each side and a sign on the pole in between. I count each grouping as "1" Koala. Today I had one where one side was missing (hit by vehicle) So it only had 1/2 of a Koala for that one. LOL

I did the exact same thing you did @johnb974 and when my score was reduced by a point, I asked the editor why. I was informed that I gave the wrong number of koalas but also that I had answered another question wrong about oil (which I know I did not answer wrong). The editor did not reply when I asked if I should have counted both sides as 1 koala. The guidelines don’t specify this either to my knowledge - or at least they didn’t in January when I did the last koala shop. Take your best guess, I suppose :-)
If you look at page 9 of the Guidelines it shows an arrow pointing to 1 Koala. I've always counted 2 per column and never had an issue until now.

The picture on page 9 shows an arrow pointing to 1. No mention of it being like a Koala bear with two arms

Sounds like we got the same editor :-D

Hi @pegleg2000 can you advise where you obtained this information? I have not seen it in the guidelines - what I read and the pictures I saw agree with what @johnb974 has stated. If I’m wrong I want to know for future reference. Thank you in advance!
I was confused when they first came out with these garish advertising monstrosities. Anyway, if you look at the 3-piece set-up, whether connected or separate, you can see how they decided to call them koalas. Just more junk for the station manager to maintain and repair if you ask me.

I count each column one koala. Koalas may have up to three panels, depending on the station and the column. Most stations have the three panels touching, so they look like one piece. In past guidelines this was made more clear.

This is a typical case of them redesigning the shopper guidelines and leaving out some information. We may have no way of knowing this information, but the editor does. You can fight the editor on this, but the editors always win, even when they are wrong.

It goes back to when the other company had the station. They described it in their guideline. Also it makes sense that it is called koala because it resembles a koala hanging on to a tree.
Thank you for taking the time to explain this. Lucky for me -they’ve been absent from the locations I’ve been to!
I have not taken these shops, but I assumed there was a decal of koalas!
Who's side are the schedulers on anyway? Doesn't sound like their own shoppers.
I’ve done these for three years now and I was like you in the beginning making one panel one koala. I had an editor explain it was one per column.
I count them per the guidelines. It's one Koala per column, whether it's a separated version or not.
