What would you do? (Scheduling conflict)

Last week, I wrote several route requests. In each e-mail, I specified that I was also waiting to hear from other schedulers.

One scheduler promptly replied, and gave me a 7 day, $1500 route (including hotels, but I'm not including that in the pay). I accepted.

Afterwards, another scheduler "sort of" replied -- by scheduling 3 shops without asking me!

I cannot work her shops into my schedule.

I politely told her I had a scheduling conflict and could not complete her shops by the deadline.

As of this morning, those three shops still show up as assigned.

Ignore the other three shops, of course. If they persist on your assignment list, say, into next week, another email.
I think you tell the scheduler who gave you the 3 shops, that you already booked another route and cannot do their shops unless they extend the due date (so you can do them later).

Being in SoCal, I have not seen/heard of such a thing where you can set up a route and get hotels out of it too. There are so many people in SoCal, the amount of shoppers is much higher too. They really only struggle with some remote areas that are not close to San Diego, Los Angeles, or the Bay area. Maybe people willing to drive to the middle of nowhere California might get some "routes".
If you are still willing to do the shops, tell her you would still like to complete, but will need an extension. Emphasize politely that you will need to cancel the shops/route if an extension is not approved. Provide dates that you can complete them.

If it is not in the cards for you to complete at a later date, then nothing more you can do but cancel.

When I communicate with a scheduler on a shop that I know will not present any conflicts, I add a sentence to the effect of "go ahead and assign." But you communicated to the schedulers upfront about waiting to hear from others, so the scheduler should not have assigned w/o contacting you first. There are a host of reasons she might have assigned them w/o doing that, under pressure to get the shops assigned, in a hurry and forgot to reply back, overlooked your note, or worst case ignored it. None of those are your problem because you were clear up front.

I don't see it much different than when schedulers collect offers. They generally go with the most reliable low bid. So sometimes our offers are not accepted and I seriously doubt there is guilt or remorse when doing so. But shoppers work the opposite. The priority is to accept the offer that will get you the best cash and return. Take the money and run !
Two were, but I had already completed that leg of my route before she assigned them.

Are some of these shops on the route for your hotel stay?

If I was making a point of emailing multiple people requests for routes...if I locked down a gravy train, I'd send a courtesy email to the others that the calendar slots were taken and thank them for their consideration. It's just good business and it shows class.

Her assigning 3 shops outside of the defined offer you emailed her...without increase of fees even...use your self wisdom...did she abide to the contract you offered her?

When I choose shops I can AutoAssign, I always have to use the confirm link. On that page is the option to agree to do the assignment as promised, or a last chance to get it off my back if something better comes along.

While I auto assign fast...I NEVER CONFIRM UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE POSSIBLE (for some there are time limits)...that way I don't get points against me.

I would use the messaging feature inside of that MSC's site to be unassigned from those 3 shops. Curious as to which MSC you're using for hotels.

Contact that scheduler again and inform them of the situation. I prefer phone in these instances.

I don't mean to derail your thread (too much), but I'm just amazed that schedulers assign routes like this - and are willing to pay for hotels, to boot! This is the kind of strategy I would love to master, but I wouldn't even know how to request such a route. When you write your requests, do you specify the shops you want, or just the kinds of shops (as in industries)? Do you plan which areas you will travel to first, and then let them know you want shops in that vicinity? Or give them a radius and number of days you're available? And how many shops do they generally expect you to complete each day? I'm so intrigued and in awe of you! How did you learn how to do this?
