You will have hit the trifecta if someone calls and explains that they can offer the shop to you for $16.

I just did a closed online order shop that was accepted. Will they pay the full amount that was agreed to, $20 in this case or is there a closed shop fee? This location is not close to me and I ended up driving most of the way before realizing that I could not get an order in. They do not allow you to go in and order if there are issues so I still had to get lunch somewhere since I was starving.
They have a clearly stated policy of how much they will pay if you are able to call in advance and find out that the location is closed ($3, I think). There is a slightly higher fee if you have to go to the location to find out that they are closed. It is not clear from your message if you went and found the location closed, or open and not accepting online orders.

Open but not accepting online orders. Yeah figured I might get screwed on the fee. One of the MS curveballs that you just have to deal with. Partially my fault because I forgot to check the shop type before leaving the house. I had another shop in the area so I had to go anyway just screwed up my profits for the trip.

I don't do online orders for 5 Guys, nor the shops where you're supposed to go within 30 minutes (or similar) of closing, just because I don't trust the locations not to close early. Their food is way too pricey for me to take any risks.
Shops near me went from $9 to $15 to $25 with MAO in three days. They rejected my offer of $30 which I've gotten in the past.
Why aren’t you people calling the restaurants before going if it’s potentially far away?

A couple reasons. The dine-in shops require a physical visit to get 1/2 the fee, otherwise, it’s $3.

Otherwise, my locations in my area tend to be up to date with store hours on their website and app.

Very infrequently shopping the Greater Denver Area, Colorado Springs and in-between in Colorado these days.
If there was a blizzard and they decided to close early, no one would answer the phone. So, you are supposed to go to the location to find out if it is really closed. Also, when do you call? I stopped calling because they are "always" often. And because one time I called at 1 PM to verify that they were open until 10 PM. Got there at 9:32 for a late-night shop, and the entire area was dark. Due to a car accident, the entire area including the store lost power at 8:55 PM (verified on Social Media after the fact to prove to the MSC that they were supposed to be open). I was already on the road.

I have a fairly distant light-night shop on Labor Day. I am thinking about calling on Sunday to verify their Monday hours. No blizzards are expected in this area on Labor Day, but we could have a thunderstorm or a car accident that will knock out power.

In my area they start at 9.00 (fee) 15.45 (reimbursement) and the reimbursement doesn't cover the cost of the minimum purchase. I just did one with a fee of 25.

A Dad shopping the Ark-LA-Tex and beyond.
A new FiveGuys is opened where I live. I’m guessing they will have mystery shops there in the short term to see how the restaurant is doing.
Does the MSC call you and request you do a shop for $25? I only get an occasional call.

I used to get calls almost daily. But I turned down most of the job offers because they aren't offering what I have done the jobs for in the past. So now I get occasional phone calls sometimes I go weeks at a time without getting a phone call. And none of my make an offers have been accepted this month at all.

But because I've been cheated out of money by these folks before, I accept the jobs for what I have done them for previously or I do not do them. I don't bend and I don't do favors anymore.

Same for me, except once in awhile if a late nite shop sits they’ll offer $28
The MS company also has an automated email program called Samantha. Samantha offers shops for higher rates than offered on the website. Thats where my $20+ shops come from.
