I am not picking on 5Guys-- because all salted fries are off my list now. I am watching my sodium intake. The 5 Guys fries contain 1,330 mg of sodium per serving. This is 55% of the RDA for sodium. Damn! Those salty fries are good! But they are not good for me. *sigh* As a non-shopper, I could just get the veggie sandwich, or something. But I am eating at home now and altering my cooking style.

MSC called me today. Wouldn’t budge at all on the $18 offer. C’mon! Really? I got a different location for $25. Why? It’s been a long time since I got more than $25. What gives?

I wish they'd offer another choice of side there. Like you, I'm watching my sodium (by necessity, not desire, although I don't use much salt to begin with). The burgers have much less sodium than the veggie sandwich! But those fries are a killer.

Good to know about the sodium difference between burgers & veggie sandwiches. I only looked at the fries. Thank you for looking at more menu items!![]()

I have some pretty tough medically necessary dietary restrictions, but I didn't want to stop doing Five Guys shops! So I read just about all of the nutrition info on the website, both the counts for the menu items as prepared and the detailed nutrition info on the individual components. I have to admit I was surprised at what I found. Every once in awhile I get a BLT or grilled cheese & tomato, but then I have to really watch what I eat otherwise on that day. I can, and do, fix both of those at home, and I'm sure they're healthier, but it's such a treat to get them when dining out.
I do love the burger in a bowl, though, so it's not much of a sacrifice to get that most of the time--LOL.
I learn something new every day, but not everyday!
I've learned to never trust spell-check or my phone's auto-fill feature.

I went to 5G's on my own dime the other day to get a little burger and it was $11.26. I wanted the fries, but like BirdyC stated, they were over $5.00, so I declined.

Did they shake the fries 15 times? How silly.

Actually, it's not. I've noticed that when the fries aren't shaken enough, they're often greasy and/or limp. Shaking appears to relieve the fries of excess grease.

I thought shaking fries might stop the fries from sticking together.

It's probably a requirement for that exact reason. They want to make sure it is being done.

I also hate how the fries are just dumped in the bag.

Not at all! Shaking is how the salt spreads and the grease moves.

And I don't want to sound like Clint Eastwood in Gran Torino but "A lot of young people don't like eating alone". Five Guys knows this and is banking on young-uns saying, "I have a shop but I don't want to go alone...go with me...." So they essentially get a customer they may not otherwise get a full price and offer a discount to the evaluator...and they get some feedback in the process.

Now that my husband is retired he usually goes with me to Five Guys. He only gets a sandwich and a cup for water (we share the fries) I told him as long as he realized that he was eating into my profits I would be happy to buy him a meal.

I don't like gimmicky marketing. They call 1 patty a Little Burger. That's what everybody else calls a burger. It's not a Little Fry. 5Gs sells only large fries. That's what it is when you dump in a bunch of extra fries and charge almost 5 bucks for it.
The food's OK, it's not great. I can get a Sonic bacon cheeseburger combo for half the price, it's just as good and I'm under reimbursement. BK papers the town with coupons, some of which are really good deals, e.g. 3 Whoppers, 3 cheeseburgers, 3 small fries, $14. In the mailbox twice a month.
There's no way I would eat at 5Gs on my dime.
