Lots of folks trying to scare us away from Presto

I get it, you don't want to scoop up all the jobs and drop them again just to keep others from getting them. And Presto has actively warned folks that they can be deactivated for doing that too much. So you come to the forums and tell everyone that Presto is terrible, and they are going to rip us off.

Ya know what, we aren't fooled. We use Presto, some of us have since it was new. We know the rules, and we know how it works. We aren't getting ripped off. We have been here all along, and not one of us has been ripped off because we do the jobs in the right order. We pass the certification, then we claim the pin, THEN we do the job.

The newbies are getting on my nerves lately... can we skip ahead to June when they have mostly weeded themselves out?
I absolutely agree! I love Presto and I have never had any problems with them.
Even way back when Presto did not have many shops and the APP was harder to navigate before they addressed that issue, they paid fast and never ripped me off. So sick of the fake news.
I have made so much money with just them in the past 2 weeks! No issues here.
Is Presto only for shoppers with a SmartPhone?

No, you can load it from a laptop. I think for some of the jobs, you might have to check in with your phone. I don't use Presto a lot. But, when I do, I use my smartphone.
It seems like you might be able to do it from laptop. I have seen things on there because I use presto to basically search all sassie company listings for a particular area I know I will be in. I have clicked on the presto thingies, but never done any of them. Was interested for about 3 seconds in the major burger chain that was doing soda pricing, but saw how that involved and became very disinterested. I don't feel like I'm really missing out by not doing anything with presto. Maybe I am and unaware.

Ouch!

I intend to live forever. So far, so good.
IIRC, the "insta-shops" do require that you take photos with your smart phone.

The others (orange pins) require whatever the MSC says.

I use the map pretty constantly to see if there are any shops in areas I'm planning to visit.

I use Presto from a desktop computer just fine. I use it to see where the shops are; then I go to the MSC's website if there is an interest. I've never actually done a shop using the Presto app on my smart phone.

If a company truly isn't paying, I appreciate any warnings from other shoppers, but it does sound like some of the recent issues were due to the shopper and not the app/company.
In the past they had some issues that I took of gas stations at night (I had trouble with some of the photos coming out blurry), but still a majority of those were accepted. Most recently, I've done the soda pricing mobile and delivery shops. Alot of screenshots, but overall not too bad. So far all of them have been accepted with only one out of 15+ shops being returned with a question. I am getting paid rather quickly too.
I'm not really a fan of Presto, though I do use it. The main reason why I don't really like it has nothing to do with the "complaints" being written though. Think Morledzep hit the nail on the head here.
Bob, a smart phone makes it easier. For most of the insta-shops (blue and purple pins) you need to check in at the location. For the sassie shops (orange pins) those are just links to MSC websites so you can sign up for their shops, they aren't actually on Presto.

The insta shops are shops for other MSCs, but you will get paid within the week by Presto. Presto is not a MSC, they are just a host like ISS.

I have received payment the next day on many Insta Shops that happened to be edited shortly after I submitted them. I found that the shops turned in up to or before 5:00 p.m., have been the ones that were edited right away.
Thanks to all who shared their experiences. As Immediate payment is not a benefit to me and the overwhelming number of shop I complete are narrative intensive, I decided Presto is not for me.
I am not new to MS, but have avoided Presto because it doesn't seem very user friendly. I'm actually doing my first Presto job today and the first thing I noticed is I didn't get an email confirming the shop was assigned to me, it's just in my incomplete shops list.

The shop is with a company I frequently shop for, but I also noticed it wasn't listed on their job board. Do some companies post certain jobs only on Presto?
Yes

I have been using Presto since V.1.0, and I highly recommend it to people who ask me where to start doing MS work. (Blue pins only to begin with, of course.)

I know there’s a lot of pushback against smartphone-based apps from schedulers. Kind of how bank tellers hated ATMs. I wonder if any of these “complaints” we are seeing are actually sock puppet accounts.
Well, all the more reason for me to start checking Presto!!

That is correct. You will not get an email confirmation. After you select a shop, depending on which MSC it stemmed from, it could offer a message at the top of the screen stating you have successfully claimed the PIN, or only see it in your list of incomplete shops. The latter always happens. It just saves time. Claim the shop and you have it shown in your list.

Maybe Presto is the MSC version on the kiosks in McDonalds. Shoppers search for the assignments, accept the assignments, complete the assignments or not… (they just go back on the job board if abandoned), and submit the assignments. No actual contact or communication between shopper and MSC until the assignment is submitted. The shopper then waits for payment (the kitchen to cook and bag the meal.)

I like automation in just about everything possible. I’d rather self-scan my groceries, shop on Amazon Prime, use an ATM, use Presto, Field Agent or Observa to self-assign my side hustle jobs.

I don’t like chit-chatting with cashiers, bank tellers, or schedulers. I have friends and family for my genuine human interactions, no need to waste time with complete strangers.

I agree. There is also something positive to say about self assign (when the pay is appropriate.)
I am digressing from app-based shopping/Presto to make a small vent on behalf of women everywhere:

There was a crusty old guy (75-85 y.o., dandruff, too-tight clothes) chatting up a young (25) female teller in line ahead of me during yesterday’s bank shop. He kept going on asking about her weekend, why didn’t they offer candy any more at the teller windows, was it because she was so sweet… ugh, so very very gross.

I almost grabbed him by his greasy collar and told him off. He was such an entitled Boomer, acting as if she were there for his personal entertainment. When he finally stepped away, she looked utterly worn down.

Old Boomer men, take note: no females under the age of 70 want to chat with you. Leave them alone.

OK, back to Presto.

Cool Kate, you do not seem to be very cool ton this subject o me. I am in the age range this guy you are talking about should probably try to hit up and I sincerely hope I do not meet him but I do not mind a complement every now and then as long as it does not get into pressure. I have years of experience and let me tell you when I was 20, or 30 or 40 I was not happy if someone who was my age at the time tried this stuff on me. And yes, 30 year olds today can have dandruff and wear too tight clothes and can be very disdainful towards women. Maybe you like that type but you just are not tolerant of people who are older than you are. Beware as someday you will be that age and find it very lonely if no one under 70 ever talks to you.
And as far as this crusty old guy is concerned...start looking at all the old guys in the news with very young wives or girlfriends on their arms. There is big market out there among younger women for older men, especially those who have a bank account.
So I will go out on a limb and say, please watch your attitude. And get back to us in a few decades if your husband, if you have one, leaves you for his much younger assistant (or whatever they will be called in those days). Plenty of disgusting young men still out there just ripe for becoming disgusting old men.
Of course there are many who are very nice and respectful too in every age group.

I've been MSing for 3 years but never tried Presto until yesterday! I didn't realize the job had to be submitted onsite and that was a bit stressful! The job was for a sub shop and the report was straight forward enough, but they had the address wrong. They had the street number for the restaurant as 203 and they are actually at 205. I had to drive to the parking log of 203 so I could check in, then drive to 205 and do the shop, then drive back to 203 to submit the report. Thankfully these businesses were right next to each other! I email that info to the assignor and hope all the driving around didn't mess up my job! It was a good sandwich though so I won't be too mad if I have to pay for it!
Sometimes you can check-in for the verification to detect you are at the right place and still finish the rest of the survey by the end of the day. Unless it had to be submitted onsite. I have a few that ask for that, but I regularly submit them later and have had no problem.
