I believe the guidelines for a drive in shop say that if the stalls are closed you should be ready to do a drive-thru shop. You'll want to make sure to take down the proper timing, etc. for that type of report.
I have never seen a Sonic with a dine-in. They must be in a different part of the country. All of the ones in my area have stalls and a drive-thru, and often the stalls are closed. I think the stalls are closed due to a lack of staff.

Shopping Southeast Pennsylvania, Delaware above the canal, and southwestern NJ since 2008
The one I went to today has a dine in. Also the one on the college campus is dine in only

There is a dine in Sonic in Hanceville AL. But they have it mapped incorrectly so it shows the restaurant is 40 miles away..
Dine in Sonic in Austin, TX! Since Covid, I've never seen anyone go inside except Doordash or similar.
I have not seen a Sonic with a dine in either.

I have seen either just drive up stalls or D/T and Drive up stalls together.

Most of the time the Sonics in my area are busy..

Sometimes the "Dine-In" area is just on the patio and there is a menu board there to walk up to and press the red button.
If you have a drive in stall shop for Sonic but the location also has a dine in, do you go inside to check restroom?
What did the instructions say? Does it mention anything about checking a restroom? Did you look at the sassie report?

Very easy to look for keywords like restroom or bathroom.

What do you see?

There are doors on the outside of the building that are restrooms. Lately, they have been locked or not available for the public and you can choose N/A on the report. Dine-in does not mean going inside. Inside is just for the employees. Dine-in refers to the locations that have a patio area in the center, just in front of the building and between the drive-through lane and one row of stalls. Sometimes that Dine-in area has a menu board with a red button to push so you can order there and they bring your order to one of the few tables you may be sitting at in that small area.
They have not been requiring the restroom visit since the pandemic started three years ago.
Yeah, but it is still listed on the report, so I was just letting the OP know how to answer and where they were located.

There are locations with actual dining rooms that you can eat in.

We have a Sonic here that has a patio area.. I have never thought that the patio area was consider dine in... I thought dine in will be like you go inside and order at the counter and sit down at one of the tables. (Like you do at McDonalds / BK)

Newbe question: What is the secret to getting any of the restaurant/fast food Shops? Are they released the same time of a particular day every month? I check daily, but the close ones are already taken.
Thank you @grille about the information about the dining area where you are. Good to know all the options.
There is no secret to getting any of the food shops, except when the mass email comes out and states there is a bonus. (I do not mean the $2.00 one on Panda) But semi decent and above, those get taken instantly.

The one I did last week with the new MSC required a bathroom check. Unless the location doesn't have one. The location I did does indeed have one, and there was a question on the report about it. The "pandemic exception" is over, I think.
And I would guess a location with a indoors seating option would have restrooms. The one I have been to does.

You have to be fast! There is only one sonic near me and I didn't get it so someone out there is on their game.
There are locations with actual sit down dinning rooms, not patios.

A Dad shopping the Ark-LA-Tex and beyond.
Lots of comments on here about the types of restaurants Sonic has. Why not just check the bathroom if you see one?

If the report is asking about it...you need to check it. If the report is NOT asking, then don't worry about it.

Seems pretty simple to me.
Confusion probably due to the old MSC, stopping a restroom check. As far as I know the new MSC requires a check. So I'm not sure why there's confusion.
The type of restaurant was a side tangent.

Sonic's in upstate NY have a true dine-in (go in, order at the counter and have your food brought to you). We don't have many, but there are a couple.

I saw one that was inside an airport but that was years ago. They might be in food courts at malls or colleges.
