Kroger

Just signed up for a Krogers in store shop. They added so many items to check--several more fruits, several meats, the flyer to see if meats in the flyer are in stock, salmon and the fish case. Trying to figure out how to remember all these things without a long list! Check if customer service is open. oh my!

I did some test shops with the new report questions. The new requirements don't add too much time to the in store shops. It is a lot easier if you enter your report while you are in the store. There are also new additional shops for the gas stations, so you can stack pick-up, in-store and fuel shops.
Strange, the pay didn't go up at all.

Yes, there are many more things to check. I plan to refer to short notes on my phone.

I am lucky in that none of the Kroger stores I have shopped have full-service meat counters. I am still glad to do this round of shops because I grabbed one pick-up shop for each full-service shop. However, I will probably not do any full-service shop at the $9 base pay unless I can again pair it up with a pick-up shop.

By the way, why do some full-service shops pay more than $9 when all the requirements appear to be the same? I haven't seen those higher-paying shops this round yet but I did plenty of them for $15 or $24 each.
The only time I see the in-store shops more than $9 is when they bonus locations that are far from me. I wouldn't expect to see bonuses on the day they are posted though.
None of the Kroger shops I've seen on the board are close enough to me to shop at the base pay. There are two shops that I shop each month. Most of the shops at one location are $9 but a few at the same location are $24 each month. The other location has a few that are $15 each month. I don't expect to see those higher fees today but am hoping to see a $24 later because I have only self-assigned one base-pay shop at that location this time (to pair with a pick-up shop).

This is similar to my experience. I have only seen remote locations bonused. Even when a scheduler has reached out with a last minute plea from someone cancelling there was no bonus.
Personally it's not worth it for me to do it for the $9 base fee anymore......they sure weren't subtle in adding a 'few' new things to check on. I'm sure they'll bring the inane questions back as well.
BBBBB,
Why do you take notes in your phone when you can enter data directly into the report with your phone in the store?
Jeff
I do not plan to take notes on my phone. I plan to look at short notes I will have prepared before the shops on my phone. For something as simple as these shops (even with the new requirements), I can remember everything. I often do a "brain dump" after I get back to my car. If I really think I need to make a note of something during a shop, I usually speak in a foreign language (I speak several) and record it.

Unless it is absolutely required, I do not fill out reports on my phone during a shop. For one thing, I do not want to risk someone nearby seeing what is on the screen. Another reason is I would rather concentrate on making observations during a shop.
So you're supposed to wait five minutes at the meat counter to see if someone greets you? And then walk away, lol.

I don't even know what a customer service desk is. I think my stores don't have them. Our Whole Foods shops have a area for returns, etc. but I don't seem them for these chains.

It's interesting that they now want a cheese interaction a meat interaction and now more meat and produce. Seeing how quickly these fly off the boards I guess they are not hurting for participants and likely don't need/want to compensate any more for more work.
Grocery lists... I make one on the Kroger app, it gives me an excuse to keep looking at my phone and type things.

I'm more upset about not getting any confirmation emails.. nevermind, found them in spam.

The new Kroger Fuel shops pay a higher fee (even if only a dollar) for what looks like a lot less work!
Good God, they couldn't throw us a bone and offer another $1 or $2 on the base pay for this extra work and detail?
Rather than chastizing shoppers for not taking a 1:1 ratio of pickup to in store or 1:1 ratio of fuel to in store, why don't they make it possible to sign up for them as a package?

The shops go so quickly in my area, I'm not able to get them on the same dates. So I'll have to make two different trips to the same store or just choose other stores making for many more stops to adhere to the ratio they require.
Ridiculous. Wayyy more items to check with absolutely no fee increase. Why are we still checking strawberries in the middle of winter? Are there that many customers buying salmon that it warrants checking it? Now we have to see if the meat guy acknowledges us? With that whopping $9 fee I can buy one pack of regular eggs. Grocery prices have increased, why are shop fees not increasing?!

I have a mix of rural and suburban stores. The suburban stores sell groceries, clothes, household items, etc they have a full time staffed customer service desk for returns, Lotto sales, etc. The smaller stores that sell mostly groceries have a customer area but they don't have an assigned staff person; a cashier or a manager comes over and help customers. (Perhaps this question was added to the survey to gather info on staffing shortages stores are facing).

I'd add a bell at the meat counter for customers to ring if they need service :-)

Regarding the extra tasks; I don't mind doing more tasks BUT more tasks means more time, if the pay can't increase a few extra dollars of reimbursement would be appreciated.
I wish the fee went up, too, but all my stores except one had/have strawberries. (I am in California.) If strawberries are not available in your area, then very little checking is required and that's a good thing, no? Salmon is probably the most popular fish sold in stores here. I would say salmon is more popular here than ribeye steaks.

I am thankful none of the Kroger stores I shop have a meat counter/guy or a special cheese kiosk. I am still scratching my head about Customer Service, though. I don't remember seeing any CS department/counter. In fact, I had to get a partial refund on a recent shop because I was overcharged for two items. I did not see where I could go for a refund and had to go back to my cashier for the refund.

the customer service desk associate being present question was required when it was done with the old msc. i usually take a look when passing by the area initially on my way to check the restroom. if no associate was there, i’ll watch the desk/counter when i’m proceeding to checkout. that’s two checks, and if they aren’t there, i mark them not present.

agreed on the extra work for no bump in pay - while it might only be an extra 5 minutes in store, everything in store’s prices have been raised, limiting the amount of groceries being purchased. i feel though that if you were to bring up the point to the current msc, they would say their base pay/reimbursement is higher than it was with the old msc, so the shopper is still coming out ahead.

I’m in semi-rural Indiana, many more beef eaters here than fish. And we have strawberries, because in the winter they’re pale and tiny so hardly anyone (at least at the 5 locations I shop) buys them. I can understand checking them when they’re in season, but in the middle of winter it seems foolish.

I was so surprised to see them posted I started scheduling them and didn't realize there were additional requirements until I had a few schedules. GRRRR. lesson learned.
You can request a bonus in this situation, though you didn't say that you didn't. smiling smiley I have been turned down before, but then I pass on a shop. On the other hand, I picked up a shop I have done, but do not care for. The bonus was too good to pass up, so I took it!
My primary use for the Kroger shops is different than for most folks. Over the past 31 yrs., I have cultivated a string of 18 retailers/wholesalers from whom I purchase stock for my business. Depending upon distance and past experiences, I visit each from weekly to monthly. The Kroger jobs act more as a manner to defray travel expenses than an income. As such, I rarely accept one for $9. When I do, though, it is ALWAYS one of the stores built back in the 1950s. Each, there are two in my area, has six registers. no self check, no produce person, no meat counter, no public rest room, no cheese section, rarely a dedicated service person and no sea food section.

A quick comment: If an Aldi is near a Kroger, Kroger's pricing will be lower on common items. This has been my observation for my area and is predicated upon three such locations.

Finally, I too selected a couple shops without the knowledge of the increased workload; I will not repeat that error.
I finally looked at the guidelines for this round. Real smooth how they add a few extra questions every time there is a new round. Again, as everyone mentioned with no additional pay. It was probably their ploy all along to suck everyone in with the quick simple report without the dumb produce question and then just keep adding to it as time went on.
My concern is a little different., I read the email rodaythat went to my promotions instead of primary. It said the shops were posted BU they were limited to 2 picup and 2 full service each. Last month they were limited to 8. The main reason I did them was to keep my cat in his food, AND to get the one larger check at the en of the month. Not with only beinging able to get about 50.00, it is not worth my time.9
I susally did about 20 a rime)
But all that being said there is usally 600 or shops each month and as soon as I finished the email I checked and there were only 2 fuel shops posted. When did the post?
Good to know about the additional, unpaid work. I hope that everyone can find a workable solution!

After sending a email to the company that does the kroger shops, they told me I could do the in store shops again after Jan.29,since I was at my max for 2022.Here it is Feb 10 and I have not seen anything listed except the gas stations. My question is have they been posted yet ,am I just still not seeing them?
