Maritz bank shops

This is my first post on this forum. I am new to this winking smileyI have been doing the 5 minute bank shops, but notice they also offer the 10 minute shops. Can someone please tell me how the 10 minute differ? Are you still calling the branches?

The five minute shops and the ten minute shops are similar. On the ten minute shop, you do not call the branch ahead of the visit. You have only one set of material to scan and submit. Time spent inside the branch will be about the same. Report time for the ten minute shop will be a little shorter. The more complex shop (five minutes) pays less.

The problem with Maritz is the wording 5 minutes and 10 minutes. Rarely is there no wait for a banker. And rarely does a banker just hand you a paper and you run out. Rude and lack of information. All Martiz wants is that current rate sheet. But they are not just sitting on a counter. And the new blue bank rules state the banker must print out about 5 pages and explain it to you, put it in a folder and hand it to you. Sure Martiz five minutes, I think not!
Go for the one that pays $15. All you have to do is go in and take to a personal banker about one of the specified products. If you don't get a pushy banker then you are all good and that's money in your pocket. SOmetimes you will get the over achiever who turns you over to the manager who they think can persuade you into getting that CD anyway.
Thank you. I thought I was stupid because the 5 minute shops take me alot longer than 5 minutes. It seems I am on the phone 4-5 minutes and at the bank at least 10 minutes. Then another 15 minutes is spent scanning and resizing. It just seems much easier just dealing with them once at the bank. They are very pushy people. They want to know my name, where I live, where I work, etc. I started just going in and saying I want information for my mom, thinking it would make it quicker. Not a chance because they want her name and telephone number. I have not seen the $15 ones. I see the 8.50 and 9.50, but I have only been registered a few weeks so maybe I missed out this month or maybe they are not in my area. I am in Downers Grove, IL, about 20 miles from Chicago.
Yes that is true. I originally had an account back in 1997. Now it is my play account. They've purge my info as well. Everytime I sit and someone does what they are supposed to do I get asked how come I don't have direct deposit. I do have direct deposit but that info is deleted from that person.

Also one Guy remembered me and said, I know I spoke with you hold up I can look it up. He looked it up and nothing was there.

I know there are at least 4 different companies that do these. One pays extremely slow so I don't except those.

I've only done one of the five minute shops and only did it because they bonused it well and it was in a very remote area where I was doing other jobs for Maritz. I actually just completed it yesterday. I will no longer do the 5-minute shops for $8.50. They are twice as much work than the 10-minute shops and pay less. I've got the 10-minute shop scenario down to where I can usually spend 2-4 minutes with the banker and be gone, so if I can get a good route of them, I'll do them. Otherwise, no more. I love working for Maritz and do most of my work for them, but this program is a rip-off!

I only see a dozen ODP jobs in my area. Do you think they are slow to post because of the holiday or have you heard something?
It's the last day of the month tomorrow. Possibly some will be posted starting June 1??

The June shops were posted over a week ago. If you don't see them, I would guess that someone beat you to them. They are so easy to do. I try to take a good number of them every month.

I check daily towards the end of the month. I can't believe I missed them. There are usually close to 100 in my metro area and the normal ones that go begging are gone. I easily cherry pick 5- 10 per month. I guess the summer competition is out.
I just got this email:

Dear Maritz Contractor,

The June ***** Bank shops are available now.

Please go to our website to self-award or request locations you would be interested in completing.

In Oklahoma, they only pay $12.50 (Call & Visit) and $9.50 (Visit only. Different things they are looking for from the banker then the $12.50 shop.) Sometimes, if I do not app, and it gets to the end of the month, they will add a $5 bonus to the shop. Last month someone snagged them all at the regular pay, and I got NOTHING. Bummer!

Tulsa Shoppers, you take Woodland Hills Mall and Promenade Mall. O'hh yes, you can also have the Adult "fun" stores. I will take the rest of Tulsa & Broken Arrow. Thank you! -- I.L.Banks
I dont' know what's going on with maritz here. I have not seen my favorite blue bank shops in ages. I check the board daily and there are just a handful of yellow gas stations that have been sitting there for ages. I wonder if the blue bank here is even shopped anymore by them? Regardless I'm bummed because I used to do whole routes of those. I'm also signed up for alerts and never get them.

Have you ever called them and asked if they are still around? Maybe you aren't allowed to do them anymore and they took you off the notifications and the jobs off your board. Worth a call, could be something silly that is making you not be able to see them.
Well that's the thing. I wondered if maybe I got banned from seeing them or something. If so I would have no clue why. I have called a couple of times and got the runaround. One woman even looked up my account and just got huffy with me and said that the 2 types of shops I was looking for "should be released today" (this was a week or so ago). Still, I see those same stupid 4 shops that nobody else wants. I don't know what gives. I used to do big long routes for them so this is very frustrating for me.

Maybe they have enough people on automatic assignments that they don't show up on the boards anymore. I was on autoassign for awhile until I decided editing makes me more money. I took myself off autoassign and now all of the locations in my area get bonused by a minimum of $5.00 each. I did a couple a few weeks ago for $20.00 bonuses and this week I got $7.50 bonuses.
I'm still clueless as to what's going on. I just emailed them... hoping they'll call me back but doubtful because its them. I don't even see an option anywhere to autoassign. I am signed up for email alerts but nothing ever comes. I'm sad. I liked the bank ones I used to do.
The autoassign is offered at the end of the reports. Do you want to do this again, here are the date ranges available. Then you pick the dates you want to do the shops.
If you go to Advanced Search and don't see the Blue Bank's name in their client list where you can choose to search for jobs for particular clients, you've been banned from the client. If it's there, you're good to go, but most likely they've been taken or you're off rotation.

I am confused. I have not seen these terms used (5 minute and 10 minute) but the terms "combo" and "0DP". The combp pays $12.50 in AZ, and requires 8 scans. The ODP is $9.50 and requires 6 scans. The combo allows for more flexibility on when you shop and submit and for that reason I prefer it. But if it paid less that the ODP I would choose that. The reverse pay is counterintuitive, but then so are a lot of things in this profession! By the way, I figured out that if I self assigned I would never have a chance for a bonus. So I stopped.
I think 5 and 10 minute was just code for 1 part, 2 part. Both are about 5 minutes in the bank but the combo is a few minutes on the phone in addition.

5 and 10 minute shops are how they used to word these shops in their descriptions. "5 minute bank shop ODP". They no longer word them like this.
Well, at least there is one MSC who gets the award for truth in advertising because I have many times been out of the bank within 5 minutes. smiling smiley The report takes a bit longer than that though.

Might be a five minute normal for you but not for all of us.
In a smaller market with less employees I have never done them in five minutes.
You are presuming you can get right to a bank employee. Not necessarily possible.

Yeah - if the employee is doing what they are supposed to (at least on the ODP shop), that is more than 5 minutes. They are supposed to show you two different brochures, go over the checklist and the example included in each of them plus the time it takes for you to tell them why you are there. They are fairly fast shops, but I've never done one in 5 minutes. 10-12 minutes is the norm for me.
I now realize that the original post is from 2011 and that would explain all of the discrepancies in fees and labels. I love these shops and have met some stellar bankers that are really trying to earn my business with their personality and connections to me. I can actually say that about five in my area have impressed me so much that I actually want to open an account with them as my personal banker. The others who zip through the required rhetoric do not give me that same feeling. I really enjoy the longer interactions as long as I have not jammed too many shops into my schedule. I have found that the larger the city, the less interest they seem to have in attracting me.

Only twice have I been asked for my identification, and both times, instead of refusing, I just looked wide-eyed and confused and said, "why?" Both times they said, "Oh, never mind. You're not a current customer." I have never experienced anyone I would describe as "pushy". I guess, like pushy car salespeople, they gravitate to the city. smiling smiley
They did get my business. They've even got my investments now and I may move my HSA to them, which I only know they did because I overheard someone talking about it to another customer today.
