Stories about mystery shoppers

I've seen a few reddit posts over the years where posters have posted screen shots/copy+paste of the mystery shopping report. I've been shocked at the grammar in a few of them. I recently saw one full on run on sentences. It makes me wonder how the report was even accepted by the MSC.

Many shoppers have written here about editors who change their perfectly good reports into grammatical messes. And since (almost?) all shops go through editing, it may not have been the shopper who had no written language skills.

Several yrs. ago, a report for Ardent was mistakenly returned to me that was NOT what I had submitted. It had been reduced to a Dick, Jane and Spot.episode. As aggravated as I was, I realized the MSC was within their right to, at their discretion, make any changes they desired.

This also happened to me.
My report was returned to me for an additional photo request (by the editor).
As I went through the report, I was surprised to see the number of questions that I had answered that were changed and commentary added that was not mine.
True. I once had an MSP employee accidentally delete my report, so I faxed her (old days) a copy of my saved report, which she retyped and submitted. I then received a note from the editor that my report was not acceptable due to all the grammatical errors and incomplete sentences. My original report was properly written, but this MSP employee had retyped it so that it looked like a young child had typed it. All she had to do was copy what I had written, but she didn't couldn't even do that.

I've had that happen with some of my shops. They were so badly rewritten that I was appalled and embarrassed for the editor.
When I've done store audits or restaurant reviews, I always hope for the best in the folks working there because I know most folks in service jobs are really trying. Yes, there are some lazy ones and lately those are the obvious ones, but overall I respect anyone working service gigs. I'm not feeling entitled to say they need to be 100% perfect. One time for a recreation center review, I had to make sure everyone had a nametag. There was one woman who was working her butt off making sure everyone was being helped and having a good time. When I wrote the review, I gave this person (I heard her name from the other staff) a glowing review for service and specifically mentioned that even though she didn't have her name tag, she was the best person at the job there. Sometimes folks can work really hard day after day after day and that one little flair item can be missed by accident so I didn't want that one thing to make them get a scolding by management later.
