Mystery Shopping Payments Advice for New Shoppers

Over the last year, there have been several discussions about not getting paid on this forum. It has been a mixture of MSP's not paying as a whole or an individual not being paid for a particular shop.

You have to test the waters in this business if you are new. Don't go and put more money than you can afford to lose out there doing these jobs. It takes time for a lot of these companies to pay you back. Most are 30 to 45 days after you do the shop. Some are over 60 days and even others, 90 days.

If a company is new to you or just a new provider. Do one or two shops and see if you like them. See how they respond. See how quickly they pay you. Don't be enticed to complete 30 jobs if you have never done business with the company before no matter how good the pay seems or how much you like the client. Be patient and wait until you see how your test run goes.

Just because a company has been good for 20 years doesn't mean they will always be good. Companies can run into money troubles too. It happens! Don't be scared to cut them off if they stop or don't pay you for reasons beyond your control

Think of it as letting someone borrow money from you. You are indeed extending credit to these MSP's. It's just on their terms and not yours. Give them a limit, whether it's $100 or $1,000. Ask yourself, how much am I willing to loan this company even if they don't pay me back?

Usually, after a few months of doing this business, the money starts to continuously flow in on a regular basis like clockwork.

No one cares about your money more than you.
