Gas Station Payment Forms
I use a bank card and try to always pay as debit. There is no limit to the number of transactions, although they may limit you to a maximum amount, $100 or so per day. Some pumps won't accept debit. For those, I select the credit option, but can only use it 2 or three times as you say. Some pumps will only take credit cards, not debit cards used as credit cards. For those, I reserve my actual credit card, but I would not feel badlreporting the card reader did not work on those. As a last resort, I use the Valero Pay app, although not all stations are set up for that. And of course I bring cash.
In your case it may be just those stations that don't take those cards. I often run into a string of stations that want credit only. Maybe it has something to do with the area's payment network or similar ownership of the stores.

Thanks, I make a route and spend the whole weekend doing them every few months. Get's me out of the house for a few days of quiet time.
I use the Valero app and Valero credit card (if the app doesn't show up at a station)

Just curious, have you tried calling them and explaining what you are going to do, asking for suppression of this safety feature for the weekend? I know when we plan to do something out of the ordinary, a pre-emptive call is made to try and prevent declines and freezes.@cindycribbs wrote:
I know I have asked this before. I have used a prepaid Bluebird debit card for the Valero shops for years. I have never had any issues. Today, they are declining every time at the pump, and there is no reason why. I can use it inside just fine. There is money on the card. I have about 63 of these shops scheduled this weekend. What type of card are you guys using? I can not find any Valero gift cards at the stations to get one. I hate the idea of using a ton of different credit cards plus I can only use a credit 2 or 3 times before it starts to decline. Help!!!
The app only lets me do 4 in a 24 hour period. Where I am at they are EVERYWHERE. So it is easy to do dozens in a day.
I called Valero credit and let them know I need my card and app to work ALL the time. They set me up years ago. No declining or over use shutdowns ! But, that is with Valero credit, not a regular Visa, Mastercard, etc. I have done 10 Valero's in one day, with some Shell's and Exxon's. 17 total, I don't consider that relaxing
